Chicken and rice bowl, cucumber mint lime drink
    Tiffany C.

Im late to the party however, I'm officially a CAVA convert. Think Mediterranean Chipotle but way more flavorful. I ordered the chicken and rice bowl packed with super greens, corn, spicy broccoli, cucumber , pickled onions and a side of tzatziki. I also opted for both the feta and hummus. I know this is giving big back energy at this point but just load that bowl right on up lol. Everything is fresh and super delicious. The cucumber mint lime drink and the spicy harissa pita chips are a hit too. Service was super fast and the space is clean and modern. Bowls are on the pricier side but worth it. I can eat this everyday.

idc this is one of my go to lunch spots / fast food places. easy, yummy, affordable, maybe healthy? lol

Soooo good! Got this entire bowl (grilled chicken, no extra add ons for money) for $11.75 and it was delicious and incredibly filling. Way better than Chipotle and has way more options for toppings. Will be coming back often!

Cava build your own bowl - chicken and sweet potatoes

Like an elevated Mediterranean version of chipotle! You go down the line and pick whatever toppings you'd like to add to your bowl. Quite yummy! The flavors were strong and married together perfectly (for the first few bites). But, it felt like my bowl was swimming in sauce. Love the different textures and how refreshing it tastes, but the flavors do feel a bit too heavy after a couple of bites. Pro tip, ask for less sauce or don't order too many different sauces, as that will reduce the heaviness and make the bowl healthier too. Would definitely try different combinations and less sauce next time!

Really probably more of a three star experience actually inside of this Cava, but the bowl itself was delicious and I feel for the staff here busting their butts during an incredibly busy rush hour. Seems to me like they have the volume to open like...5 more locations in the vicinity and still be plenty busy at all of them. I placed an online order for pickup at 1:30 and walked into a bit of a mess. You essentially had to wait in a blob of fellow online orderers, get up to the front, and tell them your name so they can make your order. It was an equal parts sad and fascinating experience of city dwellers just trying to eat $12 bowls. I think I will simply join the line and have it made in real time next time I go. I will say I was pleasantly surprised by the price. I went with a build your own bowl with supergreens, lentils, eggplant, sweet potato, chicken, and veggies. Yes to pickled onions always! The balsamic date vinaigrette is delish and I could eat this same bowl every single day and probably not get sick of it. Overall big room for improvement in giving staff the support they need to fulfill orders during the lunch rush, but quality is standard and up to the bar of what you'd expect from this chain. Will be back, hopefully during more off-peak hours.

The food is always delicious but the staff and service have gained a bad reputation. They're slow, running their mouth, and don't have any sense of urgency. It's actually so bad that I started making these bowls at home ever since I found out that they sell the cava dips and dressings in the store--I figured why bother with the hassle! There aren't many in the city unfortunately, maybe if they opened more stores they'd have happier staff and customers; spread the madness out a bit lol but the food is top tier. I had a hard time learning what to get from here but after my trail and error I finally got it down pack so this is what I order--Brown rice, romaine, crazy feta, tzatziki, eggplant dip, red pepper hummus, roasted veggies, pickled onion, red cabbage, corn, pico, falafel, honey harissa dressing, garlic dressing and pita chips on the side... Thank me later

The dish was delicious. I enjoyed my plate of sea-inspired tonnarelli nero. Bay scallops in crab ragu with fennel sofrito. Served with squid ink pasta that imparted a slight brininess. The pasta was cooked pangrattato style-- coated in panko bread crumbs and garlic. The dish had many flavors but they all came back to the theme. Probably order something different next time just to try more of the menu, but I'm getting that ricotta again no matter what.

Both were really good, and the portions are generous enough that I actually had food left over to take home. After you place your order, you get a spread of hummous, baba ganoush, labneh, muhammara and taboule. All five were delicious. My personal favorites were the baba ganoush and muhammara. One thing to know is that the amount of spreads you get is based on your party size, and they don't keep bringing out more once you finish them, like they do at LaserWolf. If you're a carb lover like myself, go easy on the homemade pita (so good!) and order a side of the za'atar manoushe. And the Lebanese chai latte? Perfection! I'd come back just for that. If you've been to LaserWolf, Suraya has a similar flavor profile and some similar spreads, although you get five spreads here. The biggest difference is the way the food is served. Unlike Zahav or LaserWolf, where dishes are constantly coming out to the table, Suraya is more about fewer dishes with larger portions. Personally, I really enjoyed that style because it felt like a satisfying, full meal. Service was efficient and attentive. A couple of tips: make reservations because this place can definitely get busy. Also, parking can be a pain, so plan ahead. Take the closest parking spot you can realistically handle walking from because trying to find something within a block or two of the restaurant can be difficult. Overall, really good food, generous portions, great flavors, and definitely worth coming back to.

The chicken was the biggest letdown of the night it was tender but lacked flavor. The beef kebab, on the other hand, was juicy, well-seasoned, and easily the better choice. Oddly enough, the French fries ended up being the best thing we ate all night. They were perfectly crispy and honestly some of the best fries I've had in Philly. Dessert was another disappointment. Last night we hosted a dinner of 10 people in the small wine room in the basement. It's a very cute room. It's perfect for a small group. Unfortunately that's where the perfect ends. Our server seem nice enough in the beginning, but couldn't really get it together to be around to make sure that we had what we needed, there was no one there to check on us to handle the timing for drinks, appetizers, etc. When we arrived, the room was an icebox. It was freezing, which was easy to fix as the settings were in the room. The table was dressed with the regular things, but the hummus was in two tiny dishes that had obviously been sitting there for a while and were crusted on top and bread that was cold, no pita nothing cooked. That was one of our table dishes that we ordered as well as taramosalata, calamari and spanakopita. The taramosalata we had ordered as an additional item on a $65 per person set menu with options for your entrée. Unfortunately, it was very bland not the way it used to be when it came. It also did not come with pita which we had to ask for and both the hummus and taramosalata came in teeny tiny dishes, almost the size is what you'd put your soy sauce in at a sushi restaurant. There were four of those tiny dishes (2 of each item) for a table of 10. The next to come was the calamari and the spanakopita. Honestly, I've had better versions of this frozen from Costco than we were served last night. The calamari was not fresh and not homemade, there were no tentacles nothing but rings. It was also cold by the time we got it and par baked. The spanakopita were teeny, tiny triangles, smaller than what you'd even get at Costco and folded so many times in the dough that they were not flaky and honestly horrible. Nobody ate them. Next to come were the salads. That was probably the best course of the night. The take on a Caesar salad with dill was very good so was the tomato traditional Greek salad with feta. It would be nice though if they broke up the feta as there was only three large pieces of feta in there, and if anyone took one, then when you passed things down, the other people did not get any. Seeing as this was all served family style you would think they might have thought of that. Next was the main courses the options were a chicken dish, a fish dish, a lamb dish and a pasta dish. Honestly, the fish dish looked the best of all the dishes, but by the time the food got to us, everything was no longer hot. Five people ordered lamb dishe which was almost inedible. It was shredded meat from a lamb shank that was served in a tiny circular way like it had been molded into a dish and then turned over with some sort of strange sauce underneath it that supposedly was pasta. It was so small it might as well have been something that you would've gotten as an appetizer. Ironically, it was so bad that you didn't want to eat it and everyone left it on their plate. Personally, mine had shards of bone in it, which made my first bite extremely unpleasant and sadly my second bite did too, so I just pushed the it aside and did not continue eating. There was no option for dessert. They just brought down some sort of honey cake that unfortunately they didn't ask if anyone had allergies or anything which a lot of of us do so only a few could eat it, one person ended up taking the majority of the cake home with them. All of this went unnoticed by our server who was rude to the majority of our party. As mentioned before we normally love this restaurant but last night was not a good experience at all. It was extremely disappointing to be treated so cavalierly and as if our party was a downstairs was an afterthought.

This time around we ordered many menu items to share once again. I definitely recommend this method with the way this menu is written! Trying both meat and seafood dishes, we have come to the conclusion that Almyra seems to do better with seafood than meat dishes, though this is not to say the meat dishes are bad. For dessert, my brother got the Budino again and my dad got the Baklava. The Baklava was unfortunately dry and hard, so while this is a classic Greek dessert I would opt for another dessert here. The dessert was made special, however, complete with a "Happy Birthday" design on the plate and a sparkler for my dad. The service was once again excellent. Our waitress was very attentive, upbeat, and helpful. Lastly, having come in the winter last time the restaurant was busy, but slightly more toned down. On this summer Saturday night the restaurant was very loud, which made it hard to hear conversation. This is a small thing, but something to keep in mind if you are looking for a more intimate dinner! We will definitely be back to Almyra again! I recommend giving Almyra a try and don't forget to order the Horta!
