Holiday decor in main dining room of Estia

Went to Estia prior to an outing at the Kimmel. Reservations via Open Table were easy and no deposit required, unlike many other area fine dining locations. We had a party of 3, and were allowed to be seated although one member was late. The venue was gorgeously decorated for the holidays, they have a great ambiance and would be a great place for a special occasion. This is a Greek resturant and the menu offers a number of selections reasonably priced (entrees $35-$45), although the best deal is their $40 three course Pre- Theatre menu, which we had that was superb. Drink menu a little high, but overall a great experience.

It's been years since we've been here and the 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, the drinks, the food and the attentive staff. Very dark and cozy restaurant with seating for large groups well as intimate seating for couples. The menu is large but not overwhelming. The charcoal Grilled Octopus with red and sweet onions was delicious, as were the Grilled Sardines with lemon, olive oil and oregano ( an item you don't see on many menus). An assortment of Oysters were also very good. The Cheese Saganaki, pan fried cheese, was amazing. From the shared Fagri ( a whole filleted Mediterranean White Snapper) to the Crab Cake to the Spreads Pikilia, the dinner was enjoyed by all of us. Convenient to the Academy of Music and the Kimmel Center.

Began the evening at the high tops for happy hour. Great prices on select drinks and appetizers! Loved the well balanced expresso martini and flaky, flavorful spanakopita! We moved to the dining room for dinner (reservation). With the guidance of our server, Vera, we selected two delicious dishes-meaty, moist halibut and lavish, lip smacking lobster linguine! We enjoyed both then completed our meal with a shared piece of baklava ala mode. Highly recommend-food, ambience, service-all top notch on a Friday night.

Great environment and good service, but had to wait a while between appetizer and main course, but the food was good nonetheless. It was easy to make a reservation on OpenTable, the mussels were so juicy and tender, and the seas bass was also well cooked and boneless. Definitely would visit again!

This was my first time visiting Estia. It's located off of Broad Street. I wasn't expecting it to be as big inside as it was. I was there for an event and there was a big event space downstairs. They started with some family style appetizers- bread with hummus, spread pikilia, spanakopita, cheese saganaki. The spread pikilia was really good. I like how the pita was deep fried and htipiti. The tzatziki was good quality too. I really liked the spanakopita as well. It was very fresh tasting with feta cheese and spinach in it. Then the salad course came. They had the basic romaine salad but the horiatiki salad was amazing. I really liked their fresh tomatoes, red onions, and feta mixed with the red vinegar. For my main course, I got the lamb chops. Usually, I find lamb chops too gammy. These didn't taste gammy at all. I think it was because they had been marinated in spices for 3 days. The dish also came with potatoes which were basic and that amazing tzatziki sauce. For dessert, there was a salted caramel baklava. I didn't taste the salted caramel part. Honestly, I thought it was just a pistachio baklava. Nonetheless, I loved the baklava.

Great upscale Greek restaurant. Server was highly attentive and efficient. Cheese saganaki was the highlight of the night.

Fine dining place right in the theater district. Better food quality than the modern version next door in my opinion, more traditional. The service could be slow, so if you are going to a show after dinner, plan for enough time. We tried multiple apps (salad, hummus spreads, octopus), entrees and sides, all were very delicious and with good portion. The grilled pitas had charred flavors, soft and fluffy. The grilled whole fish was cooked perfectly, crispy skin and tender meat (we go the fagri), with lemon butter and capers, good to share amongst 2-3. The lamb shank was very tender, pulled off the bones, with orzo and tomato sauce - wish there was more sauce, it was a bit dry. The roasted potatoes were amazing, creamy with crispy crust.

What a great experience! Our server was very nice and answered all our questions. He even took us over to look at the fresh fish to help us decide what to order. Because we we're ordering whole fish, we were unsure of the portion sizes so by seeing the fresh fish on ice we could better understand. The preparation was perfect. I ordered Dover Sole. Pan fried with a light flour coating and delicious lemon sauce to pour over it. My daughter had the Tsipoura which was char grilled. She loved it. We added the Greek salad for some veggies and enjoyed the feta cheese with the tomatoes, peppers and red onion. We had the chargrilled octopus as an appetizer and it was as good as I had in Greece. And the complimentary hummus and bread before the meal was delicious. We both chose the Dionysus cocktail which was light and tasty. No room for dessert unfortunately. The restaurant itself was very classy and I felt I could have been somewhere in the Mediterranean while there.

Celebrated by birthday there and they did not disappoint, bringing out a chocolate cookie fondant and cookies with candles at the end. The waiter was extremely friendly and personable. The restaurant was elegant as usual with beautiful touches making you feel like you're in Greece.

Traditional, white tablecloth restaurant that's big on Greek favorites and seafood. The absolute highlight was the fiery cheese, served on a hot stone plate. Like it was literally on fire, and had a melt in your mouth texture. The seafood main course were pretty good. Large portion sizes. There is also a pretty expansive pre-theater menu which a lot of people seemed to go for. Our server was professional but a bit gruff. She was very 'directive', pushy and blunt, and seemed to assume we didn't understand the menu rather than taking into account different preferences.

I came here at the recommendation of a work colleague. This is a Greek Mediterranean restaurant. I arrived with a reservation and was seated immediately. I had time to review the menu before my order was taken. I placed my order for a lamb shank and the waiter attempted to upsell me twice to the lamb chops. I wasn't that hungry so I kept my order for the lamb shank. I had plenty of time to observe the decor from my table and thought they did a great job with the design and decor. I had a few beers while waiting and also received some complimentary bread. The food arrived and had great presentation and tasted great. My only improvement opportunity was the service. My waiter had many tables and no back-up so it took quite some time to check out. Solid four star visit.

beautiful greek restaurant with elevated decor and immaculate vibes! my boyfriend booked this dinner for my belated birthday celebration, and we loved it! we were seated near the back of the restaurant at a lovely booth that felt like a gazebo. there were even fake purple flowers hanging overhead that made the ambiance more romantic. we started our dinner with drinks, i had the dionysus which was sweet and refreshing. for our appetizer, we shared the octopodi and the cheese saganaki. while the flaming cheese was fun to look at, it was nothing special. i've had it at other greek restaurants before, but wanted my boyfriend to try it. we enjoyed it, but would opt for something else next time. out of the two, we preferred the octopodi. the octopus was flavorful and so tender, definitely would recommend! for our mains, we shared the tsipoura and the moussaka. the tsipoura was fantastic, it was moist, buttery, and lemony. i was shocked by how good the fish was, and it was quite light which made it easy to eat. there were some fish bones, but nothing that bothered me. the moussaka was much heavier, but delicious as well. it was my first time trying moussaka, and it reminded me a bit of shepherd's pie. it was flavorful, hearty, and comforting. we ended the night with the greek cheesecake which was phenomenal. the cheesecake was surprisingly light, and i loved the use of pistachio. my boyfriend also had an espresso with dessert. the service was good -- our waiter was knowledgeable, and our waters were refilled promptly. it was a little odd that our waiter seemed like he was in a rush, there was no small talk. we wrapped up our dinner around 9pm, and the restaurant was pretty empty at that point. i had a good experience overall, it was a great date night! this seems to be a pretty popular special occasion spot, there were several tables celebrating birthdays as well. would recommend! they also have a theatre menu which appears to be perfectly catered to grabbing dinner before a show. i'll have to check that out next time!

Merion Park Labneh: this labneh is thicker than other restaurants which I really like actually. the photo I insert may be deceiving, as it looks chunky. rest assured, it's absolutely smooth, just a thicker consistency than most labnehs. the spices on it are so so good. I think this is a must get along with a hummus. me and my sister are vegetarian, we share a hummus and a labneh and are decently full after those. we also snack on some small plates for the table (fries and olives) and leave full. Israeli Pickles and Olives: comes with two ramekins filled with varying sized pickles, not pitted olives, and some tiny yellow peppers I *think* are either pepper-chinos or at the very least taste similar. they also come with a small ramekin for the olive pits. The yellow peppers are very spicy, but I loved them. the olives are green, and i'd consider them friendly olives for those who are particular around olives. pickles were great as expected. French Fries: easy order for the table. portion is large and I think $8 is a steal for the quantity and quality. comes with a yummy ketchup my sister loves (she is considered a ketchup hater). COCONUT MALABI: I did not know what to expect. and honestly, first bite I was a bit confused by the texture, but by the end, I really liked it. its a thick pudding consistency, smooth, has a decent bounce to it, not too sweet at all, subtle coconut flavor. has a strawberry (I think) jam situation on top with some sort of crunchy thing. will be getting that again for sure. we had three people split this and it was enough. would consider getting two for four people though. service was quick, efficient, and kind. love the atmosphere. it has a sort of lively fun vibe to it. also we were in and out pretty quick without being rushed at all which is nice. just efficient. Middle Eastern food…read morenow occupies a far more prominent place in global dining culture, but Zahav was well ahead of that expansion, especially in the United States. Alongside internationally influential figures such as Yotam Ottolenghi and Eyal Shani, Michael Solomonov helped introduce a wider audience to the depth, variety, and sophistication of modern Israeli cuisine. Philadelphia is incredibly fortunate that he and his longtime partner, Steve Cook, built their defining restaurant here. My wife and I visited for an early dinner around 5:00 p.m. and chose the prix fixe menu, which remains one of the most memorable meals I have had in Philadelphia. The mezze was exceptionally fresh, the hummus completely lived up to its reputation, and the pita with za'atar was delectable. I also remember the rice (tahdig), chicken, and famous pomegranate lamb shoulder being delicious, while a cold Goldstar beer was a simple but perfect touch. Looking back at the food photographs still makes me hungry. Zahav creates a genuine sense of arrival before the first plate reaches the table. The elevated entrance sits above the surrounding shrubs and landscaping, making the restaurant feel pleasantly removed from the street, and we entered along the side beside the patio. Inside, the stone surfaces, stained glass, and warm finishes evoke Jerusalem's Old City without crossing into theatrical territory, while transparent windows along the kitchen reveal the work taking place behind them. Because we arrived while it was still light outside, natural light filled the restaurant; photos taken by other diners suggest that the fixtures create an entirely different glow after dark against the Jerusalem-inspired stone palette. As we entered, Solomonov was standing beside the pita oven to the left, and we were honestly a bit starstruck. We occasionally see him around Philadelphia, but watching someone with his global reputation doing such basic, physical work alongside the staff was especially meaningful. He struck me as a servant leader who remains close to the craft and the people responsible for delivering the experience each night. The fantastic service throughout dinner reflected that same combination of confidence, warmth, and attention. Solomonov's culinary talent is matched by a rare instinct for marketing, brand building, and community presence. His social media, cookbooks, retail products, and appearances in Netflix and YouTube food programming have extended his influence well beyond the restaurant, and he is as cool and charismatic as he is gifted in the culinary arts. A subtler strength across CookNSolo is the group's command of operations and technology, from its reservation systems and point-of-sale experience to the digital integration that guests may barely notice. Solomonov and Cook have created distinct concepts that operate with discipline without losing their individual character, and that balance between imagination and execution may be the most impressive part of what they have built. That judgment also extends to where CookNSolo chooses to open. The arrival of one of its restaurants can serve as an early vote of confidence in a neighborhood or development, attracting attention and signaling the cultural momentum that often precedes broader investment and excitement. Laser Wolf's presence in Philadelphia and at The Hoxton in Williamsburg embodies that philosophy, and I am eager to visit both locations, as well as Jaffa Bar in Philadelphia and Aviv in Miami. Zahav deserves to remain the focus here, while the broader quality of the CookNSolo ecosystem will unfold through the many other reviews I still need to write, including Goldie, K'Far, Dizengoff, Federal Donuts, Merkaz, and others. !

Food: 9.6/10 - Amazing food, I was pleasantly surprised to see the koobideh back on the menu. It was absolutely delicious. The hummus was exceptional too. Service: 10/10 - Great service, seated on time, attentive hostesses and waiters. My guest and I did go to the bathroom and they cleared our table, but remade a drink/took it off the bill and gave complimentary drinks! Ambiance: 9/10

SERVICE - located in fishtown on a residential street…read more- parking available in paid lot nearby or on the street - need to make a reservation as it is very popular - there is only one large table to accommodate groups bigger than 4 people - even though our reservation was at 8PM we did not get seated until close to 8:15PM - servers took a while to take our order for both food and drinks - staff are accommodating about dietary preferences - ambiance good for a semi formal meal MENU - israeli food served family style - vegetarian/vegan options available - pricey FOOD - salatim: this comes with all the orders as an appetizer. It consists of ten salads which can all be refilled as needed. At the center is a bowl of creamy hummus and a side of fluffy pita. The dishes change based on the season so ours had a lot of summer produce. Considering the salads are already premade and that this platter is served to everyone by default, I would have expected it to come out to our table almost immediately after seating. This way, we could have had more time to sample each one and decide if we want refills. The portion is quite large and filing so we barely got seconds of anything. - cauliflower shawarma (6/10): roasted cauliflower on a bed of tahini with pine nuts. The cauliflower was cooked very well. Roasting it gave it a soft and slightly creamy texture that falls apart in your mouth. When we first ate it, there was no spice at all. It seemed like all the flavor was in the sauce at the base. Pouring the sauce on the top or mixing it in more thoroughly would have made for a richer experience. - mushroom shishlik (6/10): portobello mushrooms and asparagus on a herby tahini sauce. This one had more flavor than the cauliflower but I was not a huge fan of how the mushrooms were cooked. The pieces felt large and not pleasant to bite into. They also had a meaty and chewy texture. - eggplant (8/10): grilled eggplants with dollops of tomato sauce. This was by far the best of the vegetarian entrees. The eggplant is very soft and creamy with the right amount of spice from the topping. The red sauce which I assumed to be tomato based added freshness and acidity. With a scoop of hummus from the salatim on top of a piece of pita, it was an enjoyable bite. - tahini soft serve (7/10): tahini soft serve with chocolate magic shell. The dessert is included in the menu and this is the vegan option. After the salatim and the entrees, we were quite stuffed and barely had an appetite for dessert. The tahini ice cream has a strong bitter flavor with the mildest touch of sweetness. While I liked the concept of the chocolate shell, I would have wanted it to be thinner so that it could crack easier. WOULD I GO BACK? Maybe. I think some of the dishes are worth trying but going at a less busy time would be more enjoyable.

So flavorful and surprisingly filling! As for the crispy rice, omg we loved them so much we ordered a second. it was fresh, nice and crunchy. the addition of the olives paired perfectly with the tuna, it was not mushy like some places in the city. i may have found one of my favorite places for crispy rice! the price is also unbelievable, $8 for 4 pieces. amazing. the chicken kofta skewers and the filet skewers were fine, a bit on the saltier end and let it be known that the filet skewer comes with a spicy sauce over it. I would say skip the skewers but everything else was fantastic! would totally recommend and come again especially for that crispy rice!!
