The convening I attended reserved the restaurant for dinner for the entire group. There was a section set up for appetizers and then we got to pick where to sit. Then, there was a pre-set menu with various appetizers & main entrees. Each table got all of them. It was soooo much food!!! Most of the food was interesting in taste. I love Mediterranean food and the food here mostly tasted good but coming from Houston, TX, it was not the best I've ever tasted. However, the ambience and service were really great. Dessert was served at a separate section and it was pieces of brownie with what seemed to be marshmallows & what appeared to be strawberry shortcake pieces. Both were just okay. Overall, I recommend it for a business meeting or to hang out with friends. The most interesting part was the wall paper....

What a FANTASTIC MEAL. Came by with a group of ~8 with a Friday 7pm reservation. We were seated at the round chef's table right outside the kitchen. We were planning to go the tapas/family style route, but the waiter seemed a bit pressed to persuade us to choose the tasting (we were being a bit indecisive). It was initially off-putting, but decided to go in on the chef's tasting ($64), and wow were so glad we did. There was SO MUCH FOOD - it seriously kept coming. For our group size, we got 2-3 servings of "small plates", 1-2 servings of "medium plates", and options of 2 mains from steak, lamb, and eggplant (opted for the former two). Portion sizes may vary depending on the size of your party. Starters - hummus, crudités for dipping - baba gannoush - bita - crispy spiced pita - broccoli tabbouleh - chickpea fritters (delish) Seconds - grilled cheese w tomatoes - ground lamb (beef) kebabs - poeri peri shrimp - couscous - rice Mains - lamb - steak - whole fish Dessert - brownie w ice cream - orange honey cake - dates The steak was delicious, and the lamb was oh so tender. Not only did we finish the meal stuffed, we left with enough leftovers for each person to have pretty much one meal after. Very reasonable price given the quantity and quality of food.

Great experience start to finish. Loved all the flavors. I strongly recommend the tasting menu. Felt like a good value and we got so many dishes that were all wonderful. Our service was very attentive and loved the vibe. Trendy and upscale, but not overly so. We went for my wife's birthday, and Mediterranean is not what I typically gravitate towards, but I loved everything.

I was looking for a nearby restaurant and found out that Jennifer Carroll (top chef alumni) runs this restaurant so I had to check it out. Friendly service. It looks like it can be a spot for a cute date night or a small group of friends night out. The server was helpful with providing drink and food recommendations. It is tapas/family style. The food here was phenomenal. I really enjoyed the smoky baba ganoush from the trio spread. The Halloumi salad was good but got heavy after a bit. The steak kebab was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for great Mediterranean/middle eastern food.

We went to Spice Finch for dinner on a Saturday night and it was pretty full! We made a reservation about a week in advance. The interior and ambiance are nice. They have a decent wine and cocktail selection. Our waiter was great and offered great recommendations for food and drinks. The halibut was tender and slightly crispy on the outside though a bit bland overall. The halloumi gem salad and roasted cauliflower were delicious! It's funny that a prior review mentioned some of the staff trying to clear dishes from the table too early because this happened a few times during our dinner as well. We were not done yet and they kept trying to take the plates away.

My friend and I came to Spice Finch for an amazing dinner on a weekend. The ambiance is beautiful inside, everything on the menu sounded great, and service was good. We ended up ordering the Melitsanosalata, the Shabazi Fries, the Halloumi Gem Salad, and the Mushroom Nwassar Pasta. The Melitsanosalata was a delicious, refreshing eggplant and feta dip with walnuts and pomegranate on top. The Shabazi Fries were served with harrisa aioli but to be honest we didn't taste much harrisa in it, and the fries were just ordinary fries. We would probably not get this next time. The Halloumi Gem Salad was refreshing and came with many pieces of halloumi. The Mushroom Nwassar Pasta was so creamy, with these tasty crispy sunchokes on top. Both of these were my favorite dishes of the night. Even better, they were marketed as small plates, but the portions were super generous!

i really enjoyed spice find the first time i was here, but my recent visit for restaurant week fell a little short of expectations. overall, we still had a great dinner! my boyfriend and i came for the restaurant week dinner ($45 tasting menu) which was definitely worth the price tag in terms of quantity. however, the appetizers were truly subpar. the chickpea wedges were dry and bland, the fattoush was uninspiring. frankly, i would not get either of those appetizers again. my favorite item here of all time is the moroccan steak frites which are served with shabazi fries. the steak was tender and juicy, very flavorful, and the fries were perfectly crisp. unfortunately, the fries were cold when they came out. i don't know what was going on that day, but it took an hour and a half for our entrees to hit our table... and my boyfriend and i are extremely fast eaters. i got so bored of sitting there that i wanted to just get everything to-go and leave. our server was nice, but it was just so slow. the whole dinner took over 2 hours, and i was losing my mind by the end of it. patience isn't my strong suit. overall, i would come back but skip the mid appetizers. the steak is so good that i would come back just for that. i'm hoping the slow service was just bad luck, i don't think i had that issue the previous time i was here. it's a beautiful restaurant, great for a casual but classy date night.

Adorable date night spot for Mediterranean food. They have plenty of seating and cozy. We got the Lamb Shank with couscous salad for two and the trip spreads. We were able to opt into getting both the flatbread and crisps... although the flatbread was better suited for the dips.

Good spot for Mediterranean food in Center City. The chicken kebab was my favorite. The meat is super tender and flavorful. It slides easily off the skewer. The trio of spreads was yummy. I liked the babaganoush and hummus- they had a slight sweetness to them. The halloumi gem salad was ok. The croutons/crackers were a bit hard/cut into large pieces making it more difficult to eat.

A LOT of food! We really enjoyed a couple of the dishes, however some of the dishes needed some pizzazz (read seasoning/spice). Alas, Spice Finch's dishes weren't very spicy. Our waiter was good, took a while to come over and the check ins were essentially an "everything good?" as he was already moving away. We were sat next to the station where waitstaff plugged in orders, so were privy to some complaints-being assigned to too many tables, etc. Fave of the chef's tasting menu were the pita with dips-very tasty and flavorful and brownie dessert-who doesn't love warm brownie and cold ice cream? There is interior and exterior seating and lovely decor. It was okay and you get a lot of food for your $$ but due to a serious lack of flavor, we really won't be rushing back.

Last minute decision to have breakfast at Spice Finch. Arrived without a reservation and was seated immediately. I ordered the two eggs with bacon and spiced hash (8 /10). Oh! And of course some coffee. The service and food were splendid!

Went to spice finch for a friend's birthday party. This place didn't have adequate seating for our party of 8 to be honest. The lady who served us was doing double duty with the bar so she was really peeved when we kept changing seats but her actions really did ruin the experience. She was mad because my friend changed seats even though she asked if she should give her name so it made getting the check easier. She was brash about not letting us have multiple checks after a certain point. She was hard to get ahold of at the end of the night for the bill or other food items. She also brought my friend the incorrect dish and then blamed her for ordering the wrong food when she did no such things. The food definitely redeemed the service. I really liked the N/Agroni. This drink was a non alcoholic nagroni. It is such a clever name for a drink and tasted just like an alcoholic nagroni. We also got the blistered peppers which were very delicious. The peppers were mixed with harissa and tahina. We also got the Lamb Merguez Kebab. This dish had perfectly cooked lamb that was spiced for perfection. Usually I hate lamb but this is definitely worth ordering. The dessert is not to be missed either. We got the warm tahini brownie. It was the best dessert ever. It was very rich in chocolate and the perfect warmth.

Very close to Rittenhouse Square, Spice Finch is a Mediterranean spot in Philadelphia that's perfect for a flavorful meal or even a productive work session if you're me. We started with the chickpea wedges, which were crispy and incredibly addictive. The peri peri shrimp, served with a bold and zesty sauce, made me want to slurp as if it were soup. To complement the meal, I sipped on the rosemary old-fashioned. It was a unique twist on a classic cocktail. Be ready for all the flavors at this spot.

Merion Park Labneh: this labneh is thicker than other restaurants which I really like actually. the photo I insert may be deceiving, as it looks chunky. rest assured, it's absolutely smooth, just a thicker consistency than most labnehs. the spices on it are so so good. I think this is a must get along with a hummus. me and my sister are vegetarian, we share a hummus and a labneh and are decently full after those. we also snack on some small plates for the table (fries and olives) and leave full. Israeli Pickles and Olives: comes with two ramekins filled with varying sized pickles, not pitted olives, and some tiny yellow peppers I *think* are either pepper-chinos or at the very least taste similar. they also come with a small ramekin for the olive pits. The yellow peppers are very spicy, but I loved them. the olives are green, and i'd consider them friendly olives for those who are particular around olives. pickles were great as expected. French Fries: easy order for the table. portion is large and I think $8 is a steal for the quantity and quality. comes with a yummy ketchup my sister loves (she is considered a ketchup hater). COCONUT MALABI: I did not know what to expect. and honestly, first bite I was a bit confused by the texture, but by the end, I really liked it. its a thick pudding consistency, smooth, has a decent bounce to it, not too sweet at all, subtle coconut flavor. has a strawberry (I think) jam situation on top with some sort of crunchy thing. will be getting that again for sure. we had three people split this and it was enough. would consider getting two for four people though. service was quick, efficient, and kind. love the atmosphere. it has a sort of lively fun vibe to it. also we were in and out pretty quick without being rushed at all which is nice. just efficient. Every detail seems carefully thought out, from the lighting to the overall design of the space. It's easy to see why so many people stop to take pictures here. The restaurant was spotless and created a great atmosphere for celebrating with friends and family. Service - Service was excellent throughout the evening. Our waitress was personable, friendly, and attentive without being intrusive. The staff did a great job making sure our group was taken care of, and everything flowed smoothly despite the size of our party. What We Ordered - -Wagyu Dumplings - Filled with feta, onion, and lemon mint yogurt. Very good, rich and flavorful with a nice balance from the yogurt. -Crispy Rice - Topped with tuna, avocado, and olive. Final Thoughts - This was an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was beautiful, the service was excellent, and every dish we ordered was delicious. It's not often that an entire table agrees on so many menu items, but Almyra delivered across the board. We would absolutely return again, and I would highly recommend it for special occasions, celebrations, or anyone looking for a memorable meal.

I had the opportunity to visit Greece for the first time a few years ago, and while I always liked…read moreGreek/Mediterranean food, the trip 'heightened my senses', and I now seek out the food I enjoyed so much during my visit. Almyra - I happened to walk by it a few weeks ago, I didn't know it was there. I thought, 'looks very nice, I'll have to try it'. The restaurant, which features 'modern Greek' is part of the Estia Group, which includes 7 restaurants - 3 of which are in Philly (Estia and Pietro's are the other two). I went for dinner this evening on a Wednesday, and there was a good crowd - the restaurant is quite large, and it's decorated beautifully. I started with three of the Spreads - Smoked Eggplant, Beet, and Hummus. It was wonderful trying these 3 - I spread them on the pita and crispy rice crackers - and tried them separately - spoonful by spoonful, to really taste the differences. The Edamame Hummus has a unique flavor and texture with tahini and garlic. The Beet features roasted beets blended with labneh and garlic and topped with pistachio and feta. The Smoked Eggplant with peppers and balsamic rounds out the 3 with a deep, smoky flavor and a soft, smooth texture. I always look for 'classic' Spanakopita these days, but rarely find it. The dish at Almyra was labeled 'Spanakopita Manti' - I asked my server, what that was. She said it was a favorite of hers, a fried 'flower shaped' pastry filled with blended spinach and feta, served with tzatziki and leeks. I ordered them and they were heavenly - lightly battered, crispy fried 'flowers', with a creamy spinach center, that tasted exactly like spanakopita should. I dipped every bite in the creamy tzatziki and thoroughly enjoyed the appetizer! While pork is the most popular meat in Greece, lamb is a dish served on special occasions and holidays. I 'discovered' lamb in Greece, as I hadn't ordered it that often when I would go out to eat....specifically the lamb chop. Almyra has a great lamb chop! It's seared on the grill - and I do mean seared - the deep char definitely adds to the flavor. The 3 large chops are Australian lamb, herb marinated for days highlighting the flavor of the meat. They are seasoned with sea salt, cracked pepper and olive oil for a tender finish. I like my meat pink inside - not red or rare. Cooking lamb chops medium to medium well is no small feat, yet the meat was cooked exactly the way I liked. They were tender and very juicy. These chops may have been some of the thickest I've had - and I made the 'mistake' of trying to eat them with a fork and knife. Wrong! If you order chops, you 'MUST PICK THEM UP' and eat them! What a difference!! The meat just came right off the bone and it enhanced both the texture and flavor! I'm not sure why eating them off the bone was so different, but I can't emphasize it enough - and, it's a lot more fun! Part of the treat when you order ribs are the 'layered potato fries' you get with them! These aren't your ordinary fries, in fact, they're really not fries - they are little potato masterpieces! The fries are prepared by thinly slicing potatoes and layering them to create a multi layered texture that rocks! They are truly a savory, rich side dish to the lamb chops! After such an epic dinner, I had to order dessert, and the Olive Oil cake immediately caught my eye. It was a two layered cake with a creamy custard like center and a citrus orange topping. It was light and moist, accompanied by a scoop of vanilla gelato resting on a bed of ground pistachio nuts! It was delicious and a wonderful ending to a great meal!
