This was my first experience trying CAVA! I watched quite a few TikTok's to explain how and what to order; and prepared myself for a "Mediterranean Chipotle" experience, and that's exactly what it was!! Pros: the flavors were sooo amazing! I got a half greens/half rice, half harissa chicken, half sweet potatoes, with roasted red pepper, hummus, crazy, garlic, feta dip, and tzatziki sauce. For veggies I got pickled red onions, corn, tomatoes, and onions, and topped it with a little of the balsamic date vinaigrette. This was absolutely amazing. The pita chips were perfectly crunchy, yet soft! Cons: I went at dinner time and seeing as it's literally two blocks over from the university, it was really busy and loud and crowded, and the tables weren't the cleanest. But overall, it was a great experience and I can't wait to go to a CAVA again. read more

A new addition to the fast casual scene in Oakland near the University of Pittsburgh. I was intrigued to try it out given that I work very close by, but after two tries I am a bit underwhelmed. Chipotle style ordering (build-your-bowl) with the twist that you can get a few Mediterranean ingredients, mostly hummus and other dips, plus some falafel. Everything else is not too dissimilar from what you could put in a bowl at Chipotle or Roots (which are both across the street). I'm just not sure what the novelty is. The food was fine, don't get me wrong. Both of my bowls packed a lot of goodies and flavor. Props to the black lentils, which are a nice change of pace from brown rice as the base for a bowl. I also like the option of falafel as a protein, but the ones here were a bit mushy (from a mix, no doubt). But generally, everything in the bowls I have tried before at other fast casual places. This location is not super great at crowd control either; the lines are usually very long and the staff seems a bit disorganized. read more

Great experience Cava!!! It has certainly lived up to its hype! The atmosphere was vibrant and buzzing with everyone wanting to try out this new Mediterranean spot. I had the Falafel bowl and it was absolutely delicious! Full of flavor with a slight kick to it. It was like fireworks in my mouth as the flavors combined. The pita was fresh and the array of juice combinations are so good. The service was friendly and quick. There is a decent amount of space but not if it's overly crowded. They also offer take out via the app and food delivery services. Overall, I was very pleased. read more

I love cava so was super excited when I saw they were putting one in Oakland this summer. I was a little scared to go for the first time as a lot of similar places like chipotle struggle with the college crowd overloading them, but despite being packed when I walked in, they were super efficient with making everyone's food and it took maybe 10 minutes despite a super long line to order. read more

I just heard through the grapevine at this place was really popular and I love Mediterranean food so I was excited to try it. I waited a couple weeks after opening for the hype to die down a little bit went in today and the line was pretty long, but the service was subpar not a smile or greeting in sight. I got the "fan favorite" bowl and it was just ok. A little too spicy for me. I asked about pita chips but was ignored but then when I got to the end of the line to pay, I asked for pita chips again, and the lady was like you have to order those with your bowl and rolled her eyes as she went to go pick them up for me. A bowl, chips and drink cost almost $24!!!! There are much better places on this street like Roots. read more

Look, the first Cava in Pittsburgh is open, located on the main Forbes street of the U of Pitt campus. From the inside, it looks like any new chain store. I think the staff may be getting acclimated to the company process and store. Also, they were really skimping with the portion sizes . I have no doubt that, no matter the skimping, this is going to become a popular staple, filled with long lines of students and working professionals, ready to spend their money. read more

I've been to this location several times and have always received great portions. This changed quickly yesterday when I went with a coworker for lunch. The woman who was serving our meals was giving very minimal rice, arugula, greens, hummus and other toppings. The chicken was the only thing that seemed ok. Our bowls were less than half full. As we sat down to eat - this same woman- was clocking out. We watched her make herself a bowl. It was HEAPING!!! She had the nerve to double/triple scoop those spoons. She could barely put the lid on. I'm definitely questioning on returning. I feel like this place is going the way of Chipotle (tiny portions). read more

Not great at all. They got my mobile order wrong, barely filled the bowl, and the inside of the restaurant was VERY dirty. Staff was not helpful. Had to wait 40 minutes for a bowl. Terrible. Service was really bad. Portions were tiny especially compared to other locations I have been to. The food was just ok but overpriced and there are much better options in Oakland for less. I ordered about $85 worth of CAVA for my coworkers and me. We placed the order at 11:30 a.m. and by 1:30 p.m., they were still not on their way to deliver the order. I canceled it. I was told I would receive a refund in 10-12 business days. I never received the refund so I reached out to their customer service and they told me to wait 1-3 more business days. I did. Never received the money. Reached out again and again and they never refunded my money. Still don't have it to this day! Horrible customer service! read more

The service here is absolutely insane. Whoever is in charge of the employees & hiring needs fired. The entire staff is so unprofessional and simply lack manners. I've been to the location in Phoenix, Florida, and Alabama- never had an issue until this one opened.
