Ordered pickup and the box is half full. This is the second time this happened. Very disappointing.

I am such a fan of this new Cava in Reston! Now I don't have to drive more than 10 minutes to one of these chipotle-style Mediterranean chains! It's a great location for them since it's not located in the busy Reston Town Center and still within walking distance from a lot of apartments and condos. It's assembly line (chipotle-style) food where you build your own bowl with base (greens/grains/peta), dips/spreads, proteins, toppings, and dressing. I like the saffron basmati rice as the base, tzatziki and harissa (spicy!!) as the dips, and the grilled and spicy lamb meatballs as the proteins. I tend to add those ingredients and the rest is what I feel like at the moment. It's a creative, flavorful, and "healthier" way to eat out. The service was very friendly. I do notice they're more on the slower end. It wasn't crowded when I ordered but I noticed a longer line afterwards and service was trying to keep up. I guess there isn't anything wrong if they're taking their time with each customer, unless you're the last few customers in line. Still, awesome service, location, and food. read more

Food is good. The service at this particular location? Hmmm. Ordered a delivery. When I usually order a delivery, I already know the bowl will be half full compared to in person, which yet happened again! This time they put dressing packed in the plastic containers inside so it fills the space of the bowl :(. Sometimes they do not put any spread in, so this time I requested double eggplant, and one hummus. I got half of one eggplant spread and a small lick of hummus! Haha. What in the world! I understand that the preparers do not want to probably cut more veggies and mix in spreads because it is manual work and I can see it as too much effort for some?? , but essentially I spent $30 for half-ass job and not enough ingredients that it usually comes with. Love cava and I'm so happy they came to Reston! The location is easy to get to and the place is pretty spacious but obviously is crowded during lunch time. The customer service is friendly and they try their best to keep the lines moving. To avoid the rush, order online and you can even earn points! I love their green and grains bowl, best of both worlds. My usual sauces are the hummus, harrissa (spicy!) and eggplant. My favorite part of this "chipotle" styled assembly is that you can never get bored! I've tried many combos and they're all delicious. I recommend their chicken, falafel and spicy lambs as a protein choice. Try it out and see what you like! The bowls here are not cheap though but totally worth it. If you get extras and drinks, expect to spend around 15 dollars. A regular bowl is around 11 dollars. Totally worth it though and this is one of my favorite chains in the east coast! read more

The food is good like at most Cavas but terrible customer service, my online order wasn't ready despite ordering well in advance. The woman up front (who may have been the manager?) asked if I needed any help, I informed her I ordered online. She asked my name and then said it would be ready shortly, her and another young lady gossiped loudly about Jet Blue Airline before the woman who may or may not have been the manager practically threw the bowl I ordered at me. I asked if I could have a bag and she made a face before tossing the bowl in the bag and then once again practically tossing the bag at me. First timer here at CAVA. Came on a Sunday afternoon- had family members with me who guided me through the cafeteria style ordering process. First you choose salad or wrap- salad ( two choices of different greens) for me. Then choose grains, protein all kinds of wonderful toppings. I stepped out and got spicy lamb meatballs and grilled veggies. The harissa was pretty spicy and I mixed in to my bowl and was a new sauce for me. Overall positive experience here. Had a wonderful time at the cava in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I went to another one in Reston, Virginia because I had such a great experience at the PA one. It was like I was walking into a completely different restaurant. The Lancaster Pennsylvania restaurant was cleaner, and had much better service. I wish I could've ordered some food at the Reston Cava, but they were too busy filling out the online orders to help anyone in line. We ended up walking out because they were making us all wait while 4 other people were off doing other things. read more

What I like most about this restaurant.... I like that the greens are fresh and the flavor combinations are uniquely delicious. I recommend the greens and grains with lentils, lamb meatballs, and harissa hot sauce. I like that the outdoor seating is largely protected from the rain. I like that the soda fountain is clean and it comes with a mini pita. What I think can be further enhanced... I think the WiFi situation could be improved in that one needs to use the signal from a nearby restaurant to get online. I think the line is super long at dinner time. I think the price on the lamb can be improved in that my dinner costed $12.75 because lamb costed an extra $1.75. Overall, I think the restaurant is great and would like to bring my family here at some later date. read more

Terrible customer service. My online order not ready when expected, missing 2 bowls (which I noticed thankfully and got them to add them). However, when I got home, one of the bowls was missing a protein (a protein that had an additional charge) - so that bowl was not really a lunch as it was missing the main ingredient. The portions were also way smaller than normal. When I called to see if there was anything they could do about the bowl with the missing protein they said they can't refund me because I did an online order. So bottom line- do not do online orders here and if you do, check each one to make sure all of the ingredients are in them because they will not make it right if they get it wrong. read more

I always look at the cleanliness and hygiene of a restaurant when I walk into the establishment. I've been to this CAVA around 10 times. Consistency is key and today shouldn't be any different... I was waiting in line waiting to order and my eyes wandered to the food prep. A man was cutting cooked chicken with a chainmail glove on one hand and a latex glove on the other. That wasn't the disturbing thing... the disturbing thing was that after he was done chopping the cooked chicken, he grabbed a container of uncooked chicken with the chainmail glove overtop the edge with the tips of his fingers therefore exposing the chainmail to uncooked poultry. He grabbed chicken with the latex glove and placed it on the grill. All of that was no big deal. The big deal is that the man didn't change the contaminated chainmail glove when he started to chop the next batch of cooked chicken that was ready to be cut. Needless to say I lost my appetite. It takes only one time to lose a customer and today was CAVA's day to lose me. Clean it up guys. read more

I have only ever picked up online orders from this location, so I can't speak for the eat-in experience. While working in the area, I ordered dinner for a group of 6 colleagues on 2 separate occasions for pick-up around 6:15-6:30 PM, and lunch on 1 occasion at 11:45. The location wasn't usually busy when I stopped by for dinner pick-up, but it was busier at lunchtime. Usually the order was ready for pick-up by the time I arrived, but there was 1 dinner order that was a bit late (I think the woman preparing it might have been a trainee). A few times they missed a few things we ordered (1 bowl didn't come with the red pepper hummus ordered; on another night someone got a grains & greens bowl without any grains), but we had pretty big orders so it probably isn't a problem for smaller parties. There appeared to be a good amount of seating inside the restaurant, and there were a few tables outside as well. There is a lot outside with plenty of parking, although it fills up a bit since there are several stores and a Starbucks in the area. Overall, a nice and convenient location. read more

This Cava location is as good as any of the other locations, with the exception that they dressed the salads and bowls for take away orders (most locations put them on the side). What I like about the chain is your design your own pita or bowl (grain bowls or salads). I've had pitas, salads, and grain bowls.. all good. They have good hummus (apparently now sold at Whole Foods), and other toppings, such as the cauliflower quinoa topping or the pickled onions. However, nearly every time I order the salad with romaine lettuce, I find the lettuce core in the salad! Yesterday there were 2 cores. It shouldn't be that hard to keep the cores out of the salad. Something has definitely changed at this Cava. Portions and service used to be excellent and the meat well prepared. Lately portion size has shrunk measurably and service is spotty. There is one especially unfriendly lady there who acts like her children will go hungry if she gives you a standard portion. She acts put out like you're a beggar. Adding topping can be like like pulling teeth. Incidentally, the braised lamb was by far the worst I've had at any Cava. The laughably small portion they did serve me was literally over 50% pure fat. So what happened? This place used to be super friendly and always used to leave with a satisfying bowl. Not anymore, now they're rude and stingy and the food isn't amazing. CAVA is A-OK. I love eating here and go back every chance I can get. If you've never been to a CAVA before, it's the Mediterranean version of a personallly customized assembly-line style restaurant like Subway or Chipotle where you walk down the line telling the staff behind the counter which meat, which veggies, which sauces you want. Here you'll find pitas or salad bowls, lamb, falafel, braised beef, chicken, hummus, tsatsiki sauce, feta, olives, and that sort of Mediterranean fare. For drinks, they don't have the typical big-name-brand sodas. They have a soda fountain from Maine. I love the Maine Blueberry Soda. My wife loves the Mexican Cola. They have some other fancy juices in separate dispensers next to the soda fountain, too. This CAVA location is like the other CAVA locations I frequent. Clean. Quick service. Delicious food. Reasonable prices. No complaints. I love eating at CAVA and guarantee I'll be back. read more

I am so glad they built a CAVA in Reston. When I am in the office, this is my common lunch destination. For those who haven't experienced CAVA before, I would highly recommend. FELLOW VEGANS, HERE IS YOUR PLACE I live right around the corner from this location, and was on my way home from picking up a quick coffee at Starbucks when I offhandedly suggested to my boyfriend that we stop in and see what they had to offer for vegans--we are very new vegans and don't quite have the lay of the land yet so we're trying to discover all the hidden vegan gems we can. We popped in during their busiest time of day I imagine--lunch hour--and were the first in line. The overhead menu didn't indicate what was vegan or not, so we started to try to explain what we were looking for but realized we'd be holding up the rapidly growing line if we were to do that, so we said we'd step aside and figure it out first. Almost instantly, two employees came up to us with menus in hand to go above and beyond--and I mean above and beyond--to show us through the menu and the little key, which made it very simple to easily single out vegan items or a variety of other dietary restrictions (like just dairy free, gluten free, etc.). It was very clear to us that they wanted to make sure we felt welcomed and that our dietary "restriction" would most definitely be happily accommodated (no eyerolls or irritated glances, which we have experienced elsewhere). They even said that if we told the employee we were placing our order with at the beginning of the line that we were vegan, they would help us make all of our selections and make sure everything was vegan. They were patient with us while we took longer than the average customer to sift through each section of options--the proteins, the bases, the dressings, the dips, etc.--and they even gave us a free pita on the side just to be nice. We ordered a lot because we were so excited to have SUCH a vegan friendly option...guys, almost this ENTIRE MENU excluding the meat and feta cheese is vegan. It's amazing! We got double proteins--the veggie mix and falafels--along with one pita each and one drink each. So, our bill had to be close to $30, and then when I went to pay I realized--I had left my credit card on my coffee table! Hadn't brought it with me because I was just planning to get Starbucks which I use the app to pay for...rats. We told them one of us would wait with the food and the other would drive home to get the card, but when a man who I assumed to be the manager saw us figuring out who would stay and who would go, he told us to just take our food and that they would cover it this time. We couldn't BELIEVE it. We said we felt bad, and that we would call in and pay in 5 minutes when we got home, but he said they don't take payments over the phone for security reasons and that it was no worries at all and to please enjoy our meals. UM...can you say superior customer service?! We came in, brand new vegans new to their menu and they were extremely accommodating and helpful. Their menu was one of the most vegan friendly menus I've seen yet. Then on top of that, they gave us an entire free meal, sides and drinks and double protein included, because they are a GOOD BUSINESS that knows how to treat its customers (and I think could tell we were being honest and really had forgotten my card). If you are vegan or have any other dietary restrictions, I would HIGHLY recommend trying Cava out--not only will they very likely have a plethora of options to fit your dietary needs, but they will be super friendly and helpful about it and not act like you are a pain in the butt. The food at CAVA never disappoints. Everything is always flavorful and filling. I just wish they would get the pickled beets back! I usually get the grain bowl with brown rice and chicken. The chicken is a bit on the drier side, but the dressings help with that. Their fresh lemonades and other teas are also very good. Service is decent, but not great. read more

Excellent! First time to this location, my mum and sis are over visiting. This sets a new standard in fast, convenient, gastro food. It's like chipotle, but the variety of flavours are much greater and significantly more intense. Packs a much better punch. Plus you can see where the meat comes from. I've always liked this company. Finally tried Cava (I know, I know, what took me so long?!) and we loved it! We would smell the aromas of these bowls from two of our friends who we see every Sunday in Reston and Cava is their weekly go-to lunch spot. We finally caved and broke our Sunday lunch budget (we like to eat in on Sundays) and didn't regret it! If you've been to Roti, this spot is very similar in fast Mediterranean cuisine but I do love the many options offered here. I always stick with rice and chicken, I loved the hummus, tzaziki sauce, and lemon herb dressing. My 5-star review breakdown... 2 Stars: This Cava is located in the Spectrum and it has parking! 2 more stars: They didn't charge me extra for extra rice - I AM OBSESSED WITH RICE, PEOPLE. But they do charge extra for additional meat, so perhaps do half and half if you want to try more than one. 1 more star: Customer service This is like a Mediterranean Chipotle, never mind, these shouldn't be compared. I am usually not a fan of CAVA but the CAVA near Reston town center is THE BOMB DOT COM. I got the falafel and it was the perfect (!!!) consistency-crispy on the outside, soft and chunky on the inside. I've had CAVA many times but this was honestly the first time I've truly tasted a good falafel. Great lunch place if you are in the area for a cheap meal under $10. Healthy and very delicious! Came here for lunch yesterday after a busy morning and was thrilled to see that they opened at 1030! We were here right right before 11 and the line wasn't bad at all (maybe 4 people in front of us). I brought two coworkers and we were served quickly. I really like cava as a favorite place to eat. However Reston misses the mark compared to Sterling and Vienna. This is the 2nd time I've been there and had crunchy burnt brown rice and observed staff who appeared to have issues with each other. The girl serving me was literally scooping aside chunks of dark brown burnt rice. I still ended up with a lot of it in my bowl. The cashier guy dropped all the cups on the floor and then picked them up and gave one to me for my drink. He packed my order into a bag and then asked if it was ToGo. Seemed like he and the girls were having an issue by the attitude passing back and forth which was obvious. The restaurant was not busy at all. Maybe it's better when busy. Not sure. Wet greens! This One Mistake Is Ruining All of their Salads. Soggy/wet greens are the worst for salads everywhere. Even a little bit of water on your greens will repel the oils in salad dressing, preventing it from coating the leaves. The wet greens will also make the whole salad go soggy and limp faster. The cava greens at this location are soaking Leading to A disappointing, tasteless, soggy experience. When I asked about the wet greens they said it was because they had just washed but don't dry them. They even seemed confused about what the issue was. A soggy salad is a sad sight--so dry those greens! A professional kitchen should know this is one of the most amateur/common mistakes when preparing greens. I was so excited about this new location and I hope they step up the experience to match other cava locations. read more

Aah, what can be better that salad? A mediterranean salad! You can also make it a rice/grains bowl. Falafels and greens with the mouth watering dips and Greek dressings make your entire experience so decadent. If you are into spicy food, the Harissa and Sriracha Greek Yogurt are to die for! There have a selection of house made juices and teas too. This place is also Vegan friendly (just be sure to read more about the dressings and dips before you decide on adding it). Perfect for lunch or dinner and a value for money. PS: I will have to say that although I am a huge fan of this place, I have eaten better falafels elsewhere. read more
