I tried Cava for the first time this last Friday. The lines were long, and the staff seemed incompetent. The way the staff handled the food, etc. was very offputting. Management: get your employees some help. There are always 2 people behind the counter running around and lost. The line is ALWAYS past the front door and up next to the tables and it takes 23+ minutes to place an order. The Cava near Baylor's campus was absolutely amazing! The service was excellent and the employees were very friendly. They gave healthy portion sizes and all off the ingredients were fresh. I got the braised lamb and I highly recommend it, it may be some of the best lamb I have had. The store was very clean and orderly and had a friendly environment. Food was really good, set up a lot like chipotle, but Mediterranean food instead of Mexican! It was hard the first time going through just because they have everything listed on the glass in front of the food instead of the menu up top, but it was easy enough to figure out! Manager lady was absolutely zero help to her employees who were working diligently but forcing them to stop helping customers and making them clean their area which only added to the wait time. Seemed a little unnecessary from our POV. What forced me to come to leave a review was due to when we were leaving and walking to our car, we noticed the same manager lady sitting in her car with a very strong stench of weed coming from it. Food is good, but we have yet to have an experience that took less than 30 minutes in the drive thru. Doesn't make the most sense, especially since you're required to order ahead and the drive thru line is exclusively just to pickup the order and go. Not sure why it consistently takes an excessive amount of time. Currently in line to pick up an order that was placed over 40 minutes ago and it still hasn't even been prepared. I have been wanting to try Cava, so I used the drive through. This is very inefficient due to the super long lines, so my order came out fifteen minutes after it was supposed to. The food was very good, but it seemed as if my pita was slapped together. The employee was very nice, but from the drive through, it looked like chaos inside. Placed an order for pickup at 7pm, received my order at 8:17pm. All I ordered was a kids meal. That is completely unacceptable for a DRIVE THROUGH. Look this place is fantastic. The food is great and always fresh, the people are always kind and hard working, and the seating areas are super nice and fit plenty of people. I fully understand how it can be tough though due to how long the line can get in big rushes, but I think it's great nonetheless. I have done two online orders for pickup inside and both times I didn't get my food until 45 minutes to an hour after it was supposed to be ready. I just went through the drive through pickup and it took 30 minutes at least. Placed an order to pick with Door Dash. Door Dash driver had to wait for 1 hour 45 minutes to pick up the order. Staff stated there were only 2 cooks. There was also a long line in the restaurant to order in. Also, the drive tru line was backed up to the main road. This is unacceptable . I would not recommend this restaurant. Poor service. This was some of the worst service I have ever experienced at a restaurant. The employees were mannerless and totally inattentive. They casually stood around flirting and chatting with each other while the line grew longer and longer. It took them about 20 minutes to make my wrap, simply because they were just being lazy and not doing anything. The restaurant wasn't even busy. They just left my wrap sitting on the counter partially made for about 10 minutes, for no reason, while they stood around. The food was cold by the time they finished. The staff seemed like they have a little bit of a marijuana problem; they acted high as kites and totally spaced out. None of the tables were clean in the restaurant either. Despite the fact that it was cold by the time I got it, the food was actually phenomenal! It was good enough that I will give them another chance in the future, but not good enough to outweigh the horrible service. They only get 1 star. I will come back and try Cava again, and if they do something about their horrible workers and provide better service next time, I will update my review. read more
