Please know that this review comes after speaking to several loyal CAVA customers to limit my own personal bias. I myself have tried several different CAVAs all across the country and can say that this location misses the mark in a number of ways. First, and most importantly, the food is either under-seasoned or over-seasoned. Quality control needs to be improved. Second, this CAVA also has inconsistent portion sizes. Third, I find that this CAVA is consistently under-staffed. That may be part of the problem. Many people have only eaten at this CAVA and will likely never try CAVA again. Huge loss for CAVA IMHO. I had a great experience, especially since we arrived about 30 minutes before closing. Tee helped my wife and me, and she was incredibly welcoming from the moment we walked in. She greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel comfortable right away. She never made us feel rushed, even though they were close to closing. So I have been to CAVA at this location before and loved it, but my experience today was not what I would have expected. We had to wait awhile for an employee to assist us because they were all out back taking a smoke break at the same time. In the course of 20-30 minutes, they all left an additional 2 times for more smoke breaks, leaving us in the restaurant by ourselves. The food was cold and stale - not freshly prepared. Food was amazing absolutely no complaints. However, Gregory was so incredibly rude. I walked in with my family and they went and sat down to get a table and I got in line to order. 2 bowls and 2kids plates. As soon as I said that, gregory looked at me and said "you know you can order online". The party behind me also had 4 people, and no such comment was made to them. I remained polite and apologized and said that we hadn't decided where we wanted to eat after church and he just rolled his eyes. After he helped me he made sure to sarcastically tell me thank you before I could say anything else. The other girls on the line were so nice despite Gregory being a bully to the other employees. He was talking down at them and being rude the entire time. He only changed his attitude AFTER my husband asked who the manager was and only then became nice and apologetic. This place is absolutely a letdown. We've been to a few Cava locations and this one is by far the worst. They're always out of cups in the right sizes, It's not that clean inside, their bathroom is completely filthy, the food was not fresh the falafels were cold, soggy and doughy like they were either raw or over fried. There's two employees that work there that are the rudest people on planet Earth. I think one of them might be the manager of the store the one man that works there yells at people across the restaurant and is so insanely rude to customers. He's a total diva! We've been in this location a few times and witnessed the same guy doing the same behavior each time. It's not a one off issue. Two gentlemen this trip were handed a cup for their drink and they came over to get their drink at the station and the one guy who works there started yelling from the register at them and they didn't even realize that it was them he was referring to. When they didn't look over right away, he came barreling out towards them shouting , "You can't put water in that cup! What are you doing!" The guys said, "getting my drink with the cups you gave us!" The employee said, "You're not using that cup!" and pulled it out of his hand. It's insane. Otherws were staring and making remarks at their tables (which weren't cleaned at all) and in shock of the behavior. My daughter wanted some cinnamon pita chips. Her kids meal comes with the same pitas but plain. We asked if we could swap them for the cinnamon ones. It was just a fair question and he turned around and asked the other rude lady that works there. Instead of just saying "oh no, we're not allowed to do that" or whatever she was super rude and shouted "no! absolutely not! And shaking her head dramatically back and forth. Way overheated the top... just super unnecessarily hateful. We will NEVER return to this location. It seems like the things that get put in Waco are lesser versions of the same things. everyone else gets. They have a great location because of the proximity of the college and so I think it's just a get out of jail free card for them to have terrible service and be filthy because they know they'll get business. I do think this store is bad enough that corporate needs to get involved and get new employees and have some quality control. read more

Cava has become a staple place to eat on my lunch breaks when I am between meetings or close to downtown. The food is great and the service is always spot on no matter the crowd. Super duper busy on a Friday around noon. The line was almost out the door! But we don't have a ton of Cava Restaurants in Washington State, where I'm from, and I really wanted to try this chain. In fact when it was our turn to order they were out of rice, lettuce and harissa chicken so we had to wait even longer. Most of the self serve teas were empty too. Honestly it took about 25-35min to get through the line. And the staff seemed very overwhelmed and unhappy. I thought that would have been a perfect time for the store manager to be there helping out and encouraging the crew but it didn't appear that that person was around. My friend suggested that I make my own bowl with tasty harissa chicken. Don't forget to ask for your pita! Otherwise you don't get it. Then I added so many extras to my bowl, like lettuce hummus, tzatziki sauce, extra veggies, shaved Brussels, marinated cucumbers, cabbage, grilled corn and broccoli . It ended up being a delicious light and healthy lunch that you could probably turn into 2 meals. I was so full half way into the bowl that my husband ate my much anticipated pita bread. I wasn't even mad about it though! Overall I was glad that I waited in line to try Cava and I will definitely be back but probably not to this location (mainly because I don't live close by). But I do hope the employees at this location get some help from management during the lunch or dinner rush in the future. read more

I got a bowl with white rice, super greens, chicken, and a bunch of toppings I can't even remember. Very yummy. Also got the pineapple apple mint beverage which was yummy (it isn't insanely sweet which I appreciated). The service. My goodness! There's a new Cava location here in Waco! We love going to Cava whenever we're in Georgetown so it's nice to know we can get a nice healthy meal here in town. We got lucky when we went since there were only 2 people in line before us. We noticed after we received our food there were about 8 groups of customers in line waiting to be served. I'm assuming the line was longer due to the popularity and newness rather than the speed of service. Plus the place being as new as it is they are probably getting used to the recipes and ingredients. The line moved a long for us though and we had our food in no time. The food was fresh and good as always. It tasted a lot like the Georgetown location so I only have good things to say about that. Of course the sweet soda alternatives are great here. The Mint Cucumber lime lemonade combo is my favorite. I mix 3/4th a cup of mint cucumber lime and the rest lemonade. It's delicious. The bathroom is a weird situation. They keep the doors locked with a code combination and since it's a combination lock you need to knock before you put in the code. Probably because the code bypasses the lock and you can easily walk in on someone. Since it's an all gender restroom you can possibly see someone of the other gender doing their business. I would recommend them installing normal door locks rather than the combination. Maybe the combination is due to the higher % of homeless people on the area but it's not very convenient for the customers.
