This was the first time I've been to a Cavenders and actually been asked if I need help. We came to get new boots for me for my birthday and after looking for about 10 minutes by ourselves a nice older lady asked us if we needed help. She was helping someone else earlier. She was extremely helpful and even offered to fix my older boots if I brought them in. She helped me find some boots that felt good and walked us to the register. There was no one else around to help so without her, we would of had to walk to the register to ask for help which is the opposite of what customers should do. This is the third location I have been to and it seems to be consistent with the younger workers, they seem to stand around and talk instead of walking around asking customers if they need help. read more

I visited this store in hopes of getting a purse which wasn't in their system, the manager was called over and was able to locate it. Both the cashier and manager were extremely rude after bringing it to their attention that the price was incorrect. They did not make any effort to help locate the correct price and just gave me attitude. All the employees weren't professional at all, as I enter the store there was an employee asleep on the floor attempting to fold some jeans. After I stepped out of the stored, the manager had called the employee to complain why I had him search for the bag if I wasn't going to take it. This conversation happened in-front of other customers who had came with us. All staff in that store should have customer service training and learn how to treat customer respectfully. read more

No one greets you when you walk in and all the teenage girls working just stared at me, didn't ask if I needed help, and then when I am trying to find a hat both the guy and girl working the counter were incredibly rude. I had purchased a Stetson from another location.... The hat did not fit and I couldn't find the receipt. One of the managers, I will find his name today.... Was very helpful and went above and beyond. Reminding me that at least one business still understands what customer service means. She went above and beyond to help me out (gave me the number to some custom boot stores - I had one snakeskin boot stolen when my car was burglarized recently and just wanted to replace the left boot). Additionally, she helped me locate a pair of boots in my size that were in stock at a different Cavender's. I will certainly be back to this store because Bri was not only professional, but also very knowledgeable and I felt like she went out of her way to accommodate me. Great attitude and personality. Ask for Kathy! This lovely lady helped me shop til I dropped - $1K to be exact. I strutted out with two fabulous pairs of boots and three pairs of hot dayum denim jeans. She tracked down the VERY LAST 6.5 turquoise boot I had my heart set on, along with my size jeans in the absolute mess of a denim pile that was going on pre-cook-off season. She even let me use the men's fitting room because the ladies' area had too long of a wait. Love this location. Been coming here since I was in kindergarten in preparation for Go Texan Day and "Square Dancing Day" at school (yes, we totally learned how to do-si-do out in the boonies.). I brought my boots back that my husband bought for me because I was having trouble fitting into them, even though they were the same size as other boots I have. Nellie was more than helpful in getting me to try the boots back on and realizing I have a high instep for my right foot. And stretched my boot for me and gave me tons of tips and tricks to help with breaking them in and keeping them stretched. Some great designs for the rodeo this year. Having to find a men's white dress shirt for son that is XLT. Rushed in to find, stopped at restroom first and was disappointed in the ladies room, terrible mess. Good thing they had the shirt. Ariat white XLT and boot sole inserts. We were coming here for some decent jeans to go over my boots. I've purchased some boots from here before, so I thought coming back here for western jeans would be a good idea. The portly man in the blue shirt and hat was acting condescendingly the moment I asked a question for recommendations, he looked at us weirdly like we didn't know what we were talking about. He showed us the jeans section without much thought and then left. Even though this interaction was short, it was nothing sweet. They need to reevaluate how to approach returning (or any) customers; in the meantime, I'm taking my money to Boot Barn. read more

Cavender's has boots. Lots of boots. Rows upon rows of boots. And other western wear. To a Houstonion, a DSW-sized boot store that sells boots is not an uncommon site. Just Yelp for Cavenders in the vicinity of Houston, and you will see how many of these super-sized stores exist. So, were I still in TX, this would not be that special a place. But, you know how you don't know how much you would miss something until it's gone? That is Cavenders. Live amongst such a shrine to tooled leather and you forget its magnificence. Travel to far away states, that know nothing of big and bright nighttime stars or sage that smells like perfume when it is in bloom, and you shall realize how much you miss a state bigger than the sky. When I left Texas for the last time, I stopped at this Cavender's to get some boots I wear every year on Go Texan Day and whenever the heck I feel like it or miss my home state. There is a location near memorial city mall that is closer to me than this one but when I called about a product, the lady I spoke to was not helpful and not friendly. So I called this location at 290 and Nelli spent time to look for just what I asked for, pulled some options and held them for me, and upon arrival helped me further. Worth the drive! read more

Ever since my husband and I decided we were moving to Houston, I told him that would mean I would need to buy myself some real Cowgirl boots and would be spending as much as I needed to. Shortly after we moved here, I figured out Cavender's was the place to go. Fast forward 18 months, and we finally got around to coming here on a Sunday afternoon. Parking was easy and the store is large, but the section of women's boots is a bit small and was definitely crowded-bench spots were at a premium. Seems to me they could move some of the women's boots into the men's area (which was huge) and they really need more spots to sit. It's pretty tough trying on boots while standing.... The staff were really helpful though. I was concerned that my thicker calves wouldn't fit into very many boots, but I was wrong, I didn't not have much issue with that. After much deliberation (poor hubby), I settled on a brown pair with a subtle red design and made my purchase, for less than hubby worried about, so he was happy. This is the go-to place for your Cowgirl/Cowboy needs. Not sure I need anything else now, but I know where to go if I do and now have the perfect pair of boots for Go Texan Day. read more

This Cavender's is conveniently located right off of the 290 feeder road, has a fairly large parking lot, and is well-stocked. I went there on a busy day and didn't receive much help from anyone working there. The associate that we did speak to was very much in a hurry to get back to the person she was helping. At one point she said she would be right back to help us, but she never came back. Guess on busy days it's sort of fend-for-yourself. They've got a wide range of hats, clothes, boots, and accessories for reasonable prices (most of the stuff I saw was made in china). Overall a good place to shop for western wear. read more

Whenever I need comfortable work boots Cavender's is always my first choice, the selection is huge. I have a tall Arch and a wide foot so finding comfortable boots can be kind of a chore. One gentleman asked me if I needed help and I told him I would let them know, he respected that, i wasn't constantly bombarded by salespeople . (Something I appreciate) There was plenty of help on hand if I had a question. I prefer Ariat's but they carry several major brands with numerous different styles in each brand. The prices were on par with what this type of boot cost. The previous pair of Ariat's i bought lasted 3 years. If you're looking for comfortable professional work boots and have difficulty finding a proper fitting pair I highly recommend going to Cavender's first you'll find what you need read more

Today I passed there to buy a hat and get it shaped and it took them 2 hours to get started shit my hat after that he finished and I didn't like it but I just said I did but then my friend was with me too he gave the hat shaper a tip just to clean the hats then after he finished shaping my hat he got mad bc I was about to get cash to give it as a tip but he told me "here give this to your friend that's shit is disrespectful giving me a tip like this for a 30 min work" and he only cleaned his hats for 30 min that's how long he took then he only took 20 min to shape my hat and didn't want to wait for me to get cash so I could give it to him read more

Everybody says they have some huge selection. Yea if you wear any size but 12EE or 13D. For those of us that wear this size only get to comb over the 6' wide section of available boots. And.. I bet that these sales people work off commission but them hovering over you while you are trying to shop is nerve racking. read more

It's always a good thing when the salesperson knows her merchandise like no one else, can quickly gauge what will work and fit the customer best, and does it all in a friendly manner. This store was moved and rebuilt....very nice and clean with a nice selection. The service is very poor. The employees walk past you. I was never greeted. I felt like the employees were helping people that they felt were spending a lot of money. Although, I found a couple of items..i put them back. I refuse to spend my money where the service is poor.
