I had dinner at Caviar Kaspia at the Mark with my husband for my birthday this past weekend, and it was underwhelming. We had an early reservation (before an 8pm show). We arrived on time and were sat right away in their beautiful dining room. (They also have a bar area in the front, which is more casual.) I did love a couple of things about Caviar Kaspia: the service and the decor. The service was outstanding throughout - from their taking our coats when we entered to the end of the meal. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. The service was the highlight of the meal - it matched the class of the place. The decor is really beautiful - lush colors, velvet, dim lighting. It was sophisticated and classy and entirely appropriate for the NYC location of a historic Paris restaurant. Unfortunately, some other patrons left the ambiance quite a bit less sophisticated than the decor. It's amazing how one guy in his twenties in a college sweatshirt - either drunk or just obnoxious without alcohol - can make a fancy place feel cheap. But he was loud and trying to convince the staff to take shots with him and repeatedly asking the three women he was with if they wanted to be his Amish wives (I think he was a little confused about which religious groups practice polygamy). Eventually, their table moved to a more private area, and I did wonder if it was the staff trying to save patrons in the dining room from further annoyance. It seems that the crowd at Caviar Kaspia runs quite young, and, unfortunately, that table with the college sweatshirt and one other were dampers on the experience. More importantly, the food wasn't all that great either. We shared a few dishes: "Legrand" salmon carpaccio (lime, soy sauce, sweet pepper, and avocado); caviar tasting on mini potatoes (White Sturgeon, Baeri, Imperial Baeri, Royal & Selection Osetra); potato chips with caviar; bottarga pasta; and halibut en papillote (with potato pave and caviar beurre blanc). I didn't love any of them. The carpaccio was underseasoned but might have been the best course. The caviar on mini potatoes didn't work for me at all - too much starch - I couldn't even taste the caviar! The potato chips were greasy, so I couldn't taste that caviar on that course either. The bottarga pasta was a great idea, but the bottarga should have been shaved or finely grated. Instead, it was sliced into this big chunks. Instead of getting a hint of salinity and umami in every bite of the pasta, you got these big chunks - not a great texture and a salt punch. If they had shaved the bottarga and had served the pasta with a less thick cream sauce, this might have been a really good dish. The halibut dish also could have been great. The pave was perfect, and the sauce was great. But the halibut was really overcooked. When a meal is expensive, your expectations are high. And it was my birthday!! But other than the service and the Caviar Dreams martini (Stoli vodka, extra dry vermouth, caviar-stuffed olives) - I had two - and beautiful decor, I was very underwhelmed. I love a caviar-heavy dinner, especially for a special occasion, but Caviar Kaspia isn't an experience I'm keen to repeat anytime soon. read more

I recently met my friend M for Happy Hour at Caviar Kaspia. We opted to sit at the 6-seat bar instead of outside because of the weather (rain) or on the restaurant side. The bar is very small with just six seats. Please note there is a no standing policy for the bar. It's a small area so standing isn't really an option because you're just in the way. Don't get mad at the bartender if he reminds you of this policy. I started with the Ruby Spice Fizz with Ketel One. It was quite refreshing on a hot muggy NYC afternoon. So much so that I had to have another one. M opted for the Sancerre and it was so good that she commented later, "I should have just ordered the bottle." lol Luciano our fabulous bartender recommend a few appetizers as well as dessert and his recommendations did not disappoint. We ordered the mini potatoes with caviar, the potato rösti crust caviar pizza, and the Alaskan king crab arancini with caviar. The pièce de résistance was the dessert. It was simply amazing! Tarte au chocolat with caviar chocolate pearls. Besides the amazing presentation, it was delicious! On a side note, it's definitely a splurge so don't be shocked by your bill at the end of the evening. I will definitely make a return trip to Caviar Kaspia. read more

Visit Date: September 16, 2025 My friend and I came here when we were doing a guilded age walking tour in the city on one of my days off. I had taken extra money out of the ATM because my friend mentioned going to the St. Regis, we didn't end up going there we came here instead but my friend treated us to our lunch. I ended up buying us a drink at the Campbell Bar in Grand Central before we left as a thank you for her treating us to lunch here. The food was good but pricey. I used to visit fancier restaurants with my ex-husband before we had our son but now I don't really like fancy places anymore much. I find them intimidating and expensive. The guac and chips and pizza we shared were about $35 each. It was good food for that price but for what I'm used to paying it was expensive. I stuck with water to minimize the cost of the bill, my friend had a $30 glass of Pinot Grigio. This is a great place to eat, I liked it, but I'm not used to fancy and expensive lol read more

The ultimate caviar experience. A menu of all things caviar deliciousness! The baked potato with caviar is a favorite at my table. The pickles you get when you're seated are incredible and the perfect start to your meal. The restaurant feels ritzy and quaint. Service is always incredible. Came here for pre dinner caviar and champagne and did not disappoint. The ambiance is very intimate, we opted for the bar. The bar tender had good recommendations and the presentation was great. Went for the experience. The complimentary honey bread with butter were to die for, some of the best bread ever. They also served sweet pickles and salmon bilini to start. Both were okay. Beautiful interior, great staff. Loved the decor of the bar area. The crab and lobster salad was okay, the greens skeeved us out a bit, but the protein itself was delicious - but just not enough for the price. For Fries and caviar, the fries were super crispy and standard, you pay for the dollop of the caviar really, which was okay. Experience was good but not worth the money. I visited in February and noticed weeks later that my credit card been charged almost double. I emailed the restaurant with an image of the receipt and bank statement line showing the discrepancy. It's now three months and a dozen emails with four people later and in spite of many apologies and promises to correct the "mistake", the over charge has not been refunded. This is fraud and I encourage diners to beware and check your credit card charges following a visit. read more

Totally underwhelmed. Hot day, chose to have cocktails with a friend an hour or so before dinner. Asked to sit in the nearly empty shed, and was told that was for meals only. Instead we were seated between two tables with loud talkers at both. I asked the server to help me choose between an interesting cocktail or an interesting mocktail to which I could add a spritz. Server sort of pooh-poohed the spritz and recommended the cocktail, which I ordered. Five minutes later server comes back and says they're out of that prebatched cocktail, saying it was popular, and instead offers the previously pooh-poohed mocktail with the spritz. If it's on the menu and popular, shouldn't they know to always have it stocked, I chided. Server responded "I don't make the deliveries." That might work coming from Gordon Ramsay, but not from a server at a restaurant whose name starts with the word 'Caviar' and whose cocktails are north of $30. My mocktail with added prosecco was mundane; friend's cocktail (I had a sip) was similarly underwhelming. Never had to ask for our bill, because it was aggressively presented to us when we were judged to have been there long enough. Shed was still nearly empty when we left. Washed my hands in the unisex bathroom, which had neither towels nor a hand dryer, so I resorted to tissues. Better cocktails at better prices with better servers and unreserved sheds are all over New York City. Won't be back. read more

Although a bit overpriced, everything we ordered here was amazing. We started with the caviar and it was very good. It was a bit more expensive compared to other places, but we really enjoyed it. We also started with the tuna tartare which was amazing and I definitely recommend. We then got the truffle pizza which was great. Lastly, we got the crab legs. My husband enjoyed them warmed as opposed to the cold ones. Overall, I would recommend, but be prepared to spend a lot. read more

This place is a total rip-off. Interior/decor is beautiful but that's just about the only good thing I can say about it. Service was terrible. We sat unattended to for at least 10 minutes until we had to ask for water and menus (restaurant was only at 40% capacity). Caviar was great, as were the blinis/accoutrements and drinks, but service throughout the evening was slow and uncoordinated. At these extraordinarily high prices, one would expect much better. read more
