We were also thinking of going to the Sushi restaurant next door but when we saw this restaurant was packed on a Sunday night, we knew we had to try. Much to our delight the food was very tasty. We ordered the meat platter to share. Every item was seasoned well and tender. Probably one of the best Persian I've had and I've tried quite a few in Lower Mainland. The service was a bit slow at first but it was a busy night and there was a big group there for a Christmas party. Once it cleared up, service was more attentive. Also to our delight, while we were towards the end of our meal, a table of men suddenly got up and started dancing! The owner/managed was so nice, he even turned up the music and encouraged us and the big group to dance. People were dancing and eating. We definitely didn't expect a fun quiet Sunday dinner turned to be a fun time. We'll have to venture out to Coquitlam again to try more dishes and hopefully perhaps there will be another impromptu dancing. lol.

This is a Persian restaurant that specializes in kebabs, and despite the variety of dishes on the menu, they have few options - chicken, ground beef, salad, grilled tomato, basmati, and naan. We got the #3. Cholo Vaziri which has both chicken and seasoned ground beef skewer served in salad and rice, so we added a naan for $2 extra to try a bit of everything. The chicken is quite juicy and the ground beef is very juicy and flavorful. Rice is perfectly cooked and the salad is refreshing. The naan is huge. The provided tzatziki sauce is quite garlicky and complements well with everything. My only complaints are minor - I'd love more tzatziki (possible with $0.75 surcharge) and parking is almost impossible and spots are very tight. Otherwise, this is an excellent restaurant

We came on a weekday night so we were seated right away. Took away a star since it took a while to order and get our food, even more the family that came after got their food before us even when they ordered after! Forgiven since they were there for their child's birthday! Food is honestly top notch, it doesn't leave you with that over salted and MSG bloated feeling after most regular Donair spots. Will definitely mark this down as my future go to spot for "quick" and good Persian food! Also super cool to see the chef bbq your food through a see through window!

Instead of eating at the restaurant, we opted for take outs and did it picnic style so that my little rascal can enjoy the food as well. I see the same staff member everytime I go and she's very friendly. I was drawn to their hot food counter, particularly the delicious looking potatoes yelling at my name, again. I'm a huge fan of Middle Eastern style potatoes and Sahel's version is great. They were cooked to perfection and smelled fragrant. I was worried that the kebabs and lamb would be too hard for my daughter but she munched right through! I love the interior as it feels relaxing. You can also tell that the owner spent effort with the interior decoration. The color scheme is appealing as is their usage of live plants. This is my second review of the restaurant and I still give them 5 stars. I've had a pleasant experience every time I visit Sahel~!

I really enjoyed the koobideh kabab (beef). It's affordable for the portion size. The beef was well seasoned and had a nice grill taste to it. It also contains a green pepper but be careful because the pepper is super super spicy. It was my first time having the eggplant dip and I enjoyed it. I think there's not enough bread for the amount of dip but you can get more bread for an additional $3. The fried mint on top was good but interesting as I've never had fried mint before. They also gave the crispy bottom of the rice pot to snack on later on and that was a great surprised. It was a friends birthday and they gave the napoleon dessert. I highly recommend getting the dessert, it was very delicious!!

I love Persin food, but majority of the Persian restaurants are on the North Shore so it's nice to find a family-run business in Burnaby Heights. To start we had the Eggplant Dip (deep fried eggplant with caramelized onions, mint and whey). Served at room temperature with house made bread. The dip was good, but I would have preferred a grilled eggplant which they didn't have for a dip. Maybe they can make one! For the main we had the Lamb Kabab and Vaziri Kabab (1 skewer of chicken and 1 skewer of mixed meat) and a pile high amount of the softest rice with a dash of saffron on top. The meat was juicy. The meats tasted even better when we sprinkled sumac (a red and tangy spice made from dried sumac berries) on it. They leave a bottle on the table. So much food, we had to take home the rest and was enough for another meal. Easy free street parking (but look at the signage) out front and on the side streets. Open late till 11pm. They offer a 2 for 1 special each weeknight so check the board our front or ask the server. Will be coming back whenever I'm in Burnaby.

First, the couscous is not the usual couscous we've all had. This is Lebanese couscous, which is so different as to be unrecognizable as "couscous". It is so very good, I could have a whole meal of that and be happy. I generally prefer baked falafels, but this fried one was great; crispy on the outside, and soft and green on the inside. I've avoided dolma in the past, as I had it once years ago and it was terrible. But this dolma was good enough for me to stop avoiding it in the future. People were very nice, and it took less than 10 minutes for my order to be ready. It's a grocery store with a deep selection of many items, such as spices, pastas, canned fish, .... (see photos). I enjoyed this enough, I came back again about a week later for another Sampler Plate meal. My only slight peeves are, I wish there were a bit more to the salad (which isn't even listed as one of the sampler items, so a bit hard to complain!), and that the pita had some whole grains in it (I find white wheat boring).
