Second time dining here. Once again, we ended up here after plans to go somewhere else were thwarted at the last minute. We were a group of 7, heading out for dinner on the later side. Khaghan had plenty of room for us. The menu seems to have changed since the last time I came here. Previously, there were coloured pictures on their menu. This time, no pictures at all on the menu. Just black and white wording. Previously they had a Gheyme stew with eggplant that had meat in it by default and I had to request it to be vegetarian. They messed it up last time and just gave me plain vegetarian Gheyme stew. So...it was vegetarian, but it was missing the eggplant. The menu was better organized this time. Whereas previously they had a plain Gheyme Stew, and then a Gheyme stew with Eggplant (that had meat in it), this time they just had one listing of Gheyme Stew but then underneath there was an option of adding either beef or eggplant to it. I chose the eggplant add on and they got it right this time. Thorougly enjoyed my meal. We also ordered a Mirza Ghasemi appetizer to share amongst the table. I'd had this previously at other Persian restaurants. This one had a fried egg on top which was a bit different. I found the fried egg unnecessary. Nothing wrong with it in terms of taste. I do love the taste of a fried egg; however, the smoked eggplant dip is the star of the show and really didn't need a fried egg. Not to mention, I do prefer to be more eco friendly which means opting for vegan over vegetarian options when possible. That's just a personal preference though and not any kind of criticism about the dish or the restaurant. Everyone was impressed with their food. The portions, the presenation, the quality of the food. Some people hadn't had Tahdig before (the crispy rice). They loved the Tahdig. It was quite a showstopper. Great place for quality Persian eats in a lovely, spacious setting with lots of free parking. Oh, and if you're driving out later at night from the Capilano mall parking lot, don't get scared off by the gates being close when you're trying to exit. Drive out towards the Hanes St. exit and when you approach the closed gate, it will lift when you get to it. The restaurant was very busy when we came here on a Saturday night. It was hard to get the attention of their servers since there were multiple large groups, but we still enjoyed our meal overall. The restaurant was beautifully decorated. They even had a nice display in the front for the Persian New Year celebration. We ordered the eggplant dip as an appetizer and it came with the flatbread. Their Loghmeh kebab was really flavourful and I love how their saffron rice is crispy. They had sumac on the table which we definitely appreciated. We love putting that on the meat whenever we are at Persian restaurants. The portion size for the kebab was pretty big that we ended up having leftovers to take home. We will definitely come back here if we are ever in this area again, but maybe not on a busy weeknight. read more

It is not my first time in Khaghan but it would be the last time to go there. It is also the second time I booked a table to have my guests there, and in both cases, I had the same bad experiences with my food unlike all previous visits. The first time I ordered a Bone in Chicken Kebab, while my mother also had the same order and both of us agreed the food had stinky smell! But since I didn't want to leave negative impacts to my guests, I pretended normally with my food but, later when I asked a friend to taste remaining in the container, he was agree too. I ignored the first time as something by accident. Today I ordered a beef barg labab and I had the same bad experience with my Barg Kabab both the smell, taste, and texture, and then I noticed one of my guests stopped his food just after second or third portions. But I am talking about my order as bad quality food. I also noticed after half an hours waiters not checking our table randomly as we needed wait for a long time for next stages of the lunch. In total the quality of food was very low, the quality of service is also very poor, and if the atmosphere is somehow above of quality and service just because it is part of Khaghan history. Since my last two subsequence experiences were similar, I know it as a disrespectful and bad service. And I won't go there ever and ever. read more

Visiting Vancouver, Canada I thought I would try this Persian food place located conveniently in a mall in the North Vancouver area. There's always a certain level of ease with restaurants and coffee shops located in malls and with this one the entrance was quite inviting. The front staff were welcoming and friendly and as we sat down we were greeted by our server. So, the service was decent. Unfortunately, that's where that ends. I'm quite familiar with Persian food as I've eaten it all my life.....in restaurants and homemade. I ordered the "loghmeh". The portion was great, the fresh onions, chilli and tomato were a nice touch and the ground beef was quite juicy, however, it had absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. No salt, no pepper and none of the other delicious seasoning that makeup the famous Persian kabob with its spectrum of flavours. So, it had no taste. As juicy as it was, it had no taste. Getting to the rice. The staple of Persian food is its rice. It is a specific type of rice cooked in a very specific way very characteristic of the culture. The taste, the consistency and the flavour is the same everywhere with a properly cooked high quality rice making up Persian rice. It is vital to get this item on the menu right simply because it's served with almost everything. The rice at this restaurant was not Persian rice. It was mushy, not cooked properly and I'm almost certain they used some type of short grain sticky rice instead of Basmati rice, which is the best kind to make Persian rice. It is long grain and when cooked properly it stretches and falls like feather. Also, like the kabob, it had no seasoning at all. A real shame. The naan bread that was served was undercooked and very doughy and it was a real pity because they have a wood oven in the restaurant and if only they would've given it the time it needed it would've made all the difference. Overall, it seems that this place has potential but I think there needs to be substantial training in the kitchen and possibly even a touch of extra care. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment and with all the Persian food competition in Vancouver, I will not be back I'm afraid. read more

I came to this restaurant to have a good time with my family we were about 75 people there. The service was really bad, the workers told me that there was gonna be unlimited tea, coffee, and other drinks. We were supposed to get appetizers and food on time but they didn't bring it on time. We payed to stay until midnight but at 8 the waiter was saying that you're supposed to leave by now. When we asked about giving better service they started saying swear words. Me and my family just wanted a good and peaceful time but we didn't get that at all. Overall terrible service and the food was incredibly chewy and awful. I had heard so much about Khaghan and i was excited to try it. I was visiting from out of the country. My friend and I came in for lunch. I ordered the barg kabob and my friend ordered the koobideh. When the food arrived at table, there was a small portion of rice with the barg. I started to eat the barg. It was so dry and I literally felt I had to chew each piece 60 to 70 times to the point my teeth started to hurt. It was the hardest beef i had ever tasted. There are so many Persian restaurants in the area. I will not be coming back here on my next visit to Canada. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and the the staff were very nice but the food was not good at all. read more

Their food was absolutely perfect. We ordered an appetizer (eggplant) and a main course (kabobs), and both were perfectly prepared. The fresh baked bread was just an icing on the cake that made our dinner special. Besides food, the place, the atmosphere, the design and set up is very cozy and relaxing. The employees had smiles on their faces, happy to serve us, and very pleasant and easy to talk to. And what made the whole thing so memorable was the manager's (Farshid) interactions with us. Farshid welcomed us to the place, checked on us frequently, and even sat at our table and chatted with us, a lovely feeling that I have never gotten at any other restaurants. I highly recommend this place, because of their location, place, wonderful employees, and most importantly, their yummy food. read more

I tried both north an DT one and I would say beside their tahdig and Loghme the rest is whatever and it's not that great! I realized most Persian restaurants in Vancouver are so over priced for the quality they give you! Their Barg is so dry and chewy, yet more expensive than the steaks in 4 stars restaurant! I am a meat eater so I know the good cooked meat from the bad so well! Their Loghme is usually burnt from one side and it's grilled on Gas not charcoal. Barg, chenje and Joje are so dry and I would not recommend it at all. Consider over $120-$130 for 2 with one appetizer and no drink! So pricy for 2 stars restaurant. I would not try them ever again. The staff were yelling cross the restaurant calling each other's and they were so slow and looked tired to serve! read more

Worst Persian restaurant I have ever been. Food is cold and they charge extra for dill rice!! The glass of water I got was terrible, uncleaned! No one came to ask if we need any thing. We visited Vancouver from California and this is not even close to what you can get there! read more
