I've come to this place a couple times once the clasp on my tennis bracelet had broken and someone had turned it in and the jeweler fixed my clasp, another time my watch needed to be fitted and fixed as a link had broken. Each time they give honest advice, they've never switched out my diamonds and they always give me advice to save me money. An honest and well priced jeweler is hard to find. First of all, if I could give TEN stars, I most definitely would! My husband and I have been doing business with Charlie Hood way back when he worked for The Village Diamond Center, located in a very small area in the Vandenberg Village skating rink in the mid-80's! Charlie notified us by mail I believe, that he was leaving TVDC, and striking out on his own. I don't, however, know the exact year when he opened his current business, C.B. Hood Diamond. We followed him and continued having all our jewelry repairs done there; his goldsmiths are second to none. There's absolutely NO ONE else I would trust with my wedding wedding set; I'm always sent reminders that it's time to go in to have the prongs checked on my solitaire, and surrounding diamonds on its ring guard. There is no charge for this. My husband had his nugget gold with diamonds wedding ring repaired to look like brand new, and the cost was more than fair. A week ago, I noticed that my wedding set was in serious need of repair. Immediately I wondered that since we are in the middle of a pandemic, would C.B. Diamond even be considered an essential business? I decided to lock the ring up, and get ahold of them when the crisis ended. But, then I decided to call and see if they were open. I got their AM, and Michelle Hood stated that their hours changed drastically, but they listened to their messages frequently and would get back asap. Soon after I received a call, and Michelle and I worked out a plan to get my ring repaired. The end result: I now have my ring back, fully repaired, and looking even better than new. Like I said, their goldsmiths are exceptional. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Having said all that (yeah, it IS long!), there is no other jeweler with whom I'd leave my pieces for repair or cleaning. These people, Charlie, Michelle, Courtney, and the goldsmiths are soooo HONEST, which should be the MOST important component/quality when trying to select the right jeweler for one's personal jewelry needs. They are also very knowledgeable, courteous, and simply put, "people friendly". And, anyone who knows Charlie as I do, knows how humorous he is; I love his wicked sense of humor. I hope that soon this quarantine will end, and they will be opening their doors once again to offer their exemplary services. I HIGHLY recommend this family owned and operated jewelry business. My wife and I brought our wedding rings in to be checked out. I received an estimate on any work being done, which seemed high, but not extraordinary. However, I decided not to get the work done at that time. When I went into the store to pick up the rings, I was told the rings had been sent out for the estimate, and they had not been returned. I was surprised that the rings were sent somewhere else for an estimate, but I figured that was my assumption that would be done on-site. I was told the rings would be back the following Tuesday, and I would receive a call to pick them up. No call. In fact, I waited until Saturday without any contact from the jeweler. When I called, guess what? The rings still have not been returned to the store. I am now being told that they don't know why the rings are not back yet, but they should be here next Tuesday. I have a hard time believing that now. At this point, it has been almost two weeks without our wedding rings. This is absurd. These are our wedding rings. They are irreplaceable, and at this point, I have no idea where they are. I feel like I'm getting empty promises. So ask yourself: Do you want this to happen to your irreplaceable valuables? He brought in what he wanted and worked with her to create it. He told me that she gave him an accurate estimate and after she had pictures of the ring he wanted to customize, she sent him outlines or predrafts of what it would look like. First of all the place looks terrific and you're immediately greeted with warmth. I brought in a great looking watch, albeit old and worn, with no strap. The owner, Charlie, helped me pick out a great silver studded leather strap out of this huge catalog that looked like the Encyclopedia Britannica. A few days later the watch was returned to me with the strap put on at no charge, and the owner took the time to buff out all the scratches and blemishes on the watch itself. I met the CB Hood group by walking in to about a getting a jewelry appraisal.They offered to clean my 4 carat diamond ring complimentary and when they did they inspected it as well. Courtney was advised by the lady that was cleaning my ring that I had diamonds that were about to fall out. So Courtney then takes it over to take a look under the scope and shows me the damage that I had no idea about.Three of my bigger diamonds, and a prong on the back side of one of the diamonds was broke. She tried to secure them the best she could for me to have it repaired on a later day. Courtney saved me thousands and she truly cared about the outcome of my ring. I will do business with them from here on out because my previous jewelry store was out of town and any and all repairs would require me to overnight my precious ring to them or bring it to LA which is the closet one from the Central Coast. The only thing I did learn from this is the previous jewelry store said they would not honor warranty repairs if you tell them another jewelry store had cleaned your ring for you. I told them because I had just had it inspected weeks before and the damage was so bad they agreed it didn't happen overnight. read more

The owner was extremely rude! Would not stop talking long enough to assist his salesperson, even after she requested his help several times. I'm really surprised that a small business owner would treat customers and his own employees like that. It's one thing to have to wait for legitimate reasons, but to be completely ignored and forced to wait while the owner is chit-chatting with his friend is unacceptable.
