We were pretty excited about this place based on the reviews. The space is gorgeous but we were immediately meet with a scowl when we approached the counter and asked a question. I know that the North Shore is struggling with staff, but a smile goes a long way when you work in the service industry. The menu says that they will accommodate dietary needs. The staff needs to be trained to take those requests in stride. The food was fine. Golden smoothie was my favorite. Hopefully, we can try again and meet a more friendly employee. read more

My wife and I were looking for takeout in Two Harbors to bring to Castle Danger Brewery. We ordered online and had the best pick up experience. The iPad was cleaned before I used it and right after, the food was placed in a bag on separate table to pick up. The food was delicious. I had the deli sandwich, lots of meat and cheese and just enough veggies. My wife had the Greek Salad wrap. She really enjoyed it. The value for the amount of food you get is great. As we drove away we saw they have a cool patio in the back in the middle of the woods where you can eat. Defiantly worth a stop. read more

The coffee was good, we tried a range of drinks: latte, cortado, dark roast drip coffee, and a mocha. The cortado was the favorite and the mocha was a little too sweet. We also purchased a burrito with the vegetarian sausage substitute (for an extra $1). The best part was the seating in the back of the cafe. Many tables were set up outside in the middle of a forest and we greatly enjoyed our coffees in a nature setting. However, the most disappointing part was that while they used compostable and recyclable cups -- they did not offer a compost and recycling bin rather there was just one bin. They have the right idea with ecoproducts but the failed execution of offering trash, recycling, and composting bins renders the environmentally-friendly idea null. Instead the bin is completely contaminated with its mix of recycling, composting, and trash (the burrito came wrapped in a paper lined with plastic = trash). So they might as well not use ecoproducts because it's no different than any other coffee shop because it all ends up in the same spot - the landfill. Good coffee, fantastic location, but unfortunately some green washing. read more

I just moved back to the northwoods four weeks ago to work for the summer and Two Harbors is the closest city for me to enjoy some urban life on my days off. I was disappointed to discover that there were no Excellent (by my own standards) coffee shops in the area. But my luck changed when I found out Cedar Coffee Co. opened two days ago. I stopped by this morning and was elated. I had a delicious 12 oz Ethiopian house coffee ($1.95, I think they brew Duluth Coffee Company beans?) with a free refill. I also had a very tasty scone ($2.95). I was tempted by their breakfast sandwich, but left that for a future day, the same with the small batch Love Creamery ice cream and espresso drinks--I couldn't possibly do it all at once, and I know I'll be back often. They have a good variety of breakfast, lunch, and kids food on their menu, and Castle Danger beer. The shop is connected to Spokengear Bike Shop, the two come as a pair (although they have different open hours, fyi). The building is nestled in the woods with a lovely patio woods-side (see photo). It's a true oasis, a hub of outdoor community that appreciates good food, good coffee, bicycles, and being outside. There is a bike trail right off the parking lot--you can have coffee, go for a bike ride, and come back for lunch and a beer! I'm delighted that this place exists, it is definitely worth your stop off the main road while you're on the north shore (bring a bicycle, stay a while!). My husband and I were heading to Lutsen and I remembered a blogger had said this place was great. She was right! It's about 1/4 mile north of Hwy 61 super easy and plenty of parking. Coffee was excellent and we each had a breakfast sandwich. I had the avocado & he had sausage/egg/cheese muffin. Both were delicious!! The ciabatta my sandwich was on was crispy and so, so good. They have a cute assortment of things to buy - mainly, if not all, local makers. I bought a candle from Natural Light out of Duluth. read more

This place is a gem! Ambience is amazing (picnic tables nestled into a grove of trees), coffee is wonderful, and food is simple and delicious. They took great safety measures to keep your visit comfortable! It's such a cute little building tucked back off the road. I had an iced mocha and the bacon roll-up. The mocha was so good! The roll-up was just okay, there wasn't much bacon to it, but had a delicious sauce topped on it. I would say go a breakfast sandwich route if you go! We stopped here to fuel up before our drive back to the Minneapolis area. The oat milk lattes were delicious, as were the avocado toast & the homemade scones. I loved the atmosphere too, with cool art, music & even a fire pit out back to sit around in the evening. Directly off another road just off Minnesota Highway 61, Cedar Coffee Company is located in a new, modern building connected to a local cycling shop. This adds to the modern yet rustic feel of the inside aesthetic! Their coffee is sourced from Duluth Coffee Company along with other local sources for the ingredients used in their menu selections. Any drink one could want was offered (including affogato!). We ordered sandwiches and salads for lunch, and all were prepared quickly and tasted delicious! I specifically recommend the Fiesta Salad with a vegetarian, quinoa blend. The food variety reminded me of a larger coffeehouse one may find in a large city like Minneapolis. I would also recommend the espresso cookie. The inside was chewy and soft while the outside had a nice crisp. A perfect cookie texture! Additionally, the service was very friendly and pleasant! Overall, this is quite the local gem! I'll be sure to stop when I'm up the North Shore, and I implore you to as well! read more

There's a reason this place continues to get 5 stars. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. I ate the Quinoa Chicken Salad and decided to substitute the buttemilk ranch for the garlic lime aoili and it was the BEST decision I ever made! Was very disappointed in the unfriendly and slow staff. we were the only customers, but staff kept their backs to us for quite a while. We stopped at Cedar Coffee Company on a Sunday at 8:30 a.m. while passing through Two Harbors heading north to hike. There were 4 staff members working the bar, register, and two in the kitchen. What has stayed with me about my experience here is that it seemed the staff members particularly the person behind the register went out of their way to make us feel as unwelcome and snubbed as possible. There was not an overwhelming number of people waiting in line, nor was our order extravagant. I witnessed the staff treating others with the same coldness and distain. I resent this treatment by a fellow Minnesotan. Folks passing through Two Harbors renting bikes and buying coffee at this establishment are likely the only way this place will stay in business so I recommend changing the attitude towards customers from out of town. Sunday mornings hiking on the North Shore are special and I will not repeat this experience again. read more

Stopped by CCC before heading back to HTX and they definitely lived up to their overall 5 star rating. We tried the half and half cookie which was soft, chewy and the perfect amount of sweet. I ordered the mocha frappe which was a little stronger than i expected, but again I'm used to sugary Starbucks drinks haha. The ambience was very chill and ~hipsterish~. Staff was very friendly and our drinks took all of about 5 minutes to come out. Will definitely have to come back when we visit MN again! read more

My husband and I discovered this place while out looking for a good cup of coffee and a little breakfast on our journey home after a beautiful weekend up North celebrating our wedding anniversary. I highly recommend everyone make this a destination stop when you are on the North Shore. 1. The coffee is fantastic. My husband had a cappuccino and then another one to go. 2. The croissant with jam was scrumptious. 3. The atmosphere was fun and engaging and the owners were warm and welcoming. 4. The bike shop rents bikes for the day or half day. 5.
