If you're hunting for an electrical crew that actually shows up, does the job right, treats your home with respect, and even manages to be genuinely good humans while doing it--look no further than Cedar Electrical Services. We had them install a new EV charging circuit for my wife's Lucid (which, if you don't know, is basically a spaceship pretending to be a car), and from start to finish, this crew was absolutely first class. Sam, the boss, deserves his own cape. The man was ridiculously patient with us--like, saint-level patient. Explained everything, gave us options without the upsell nonsense, and made sure we were comfortable every step of the way. You could tell he runs his crew with respect, and it shows. Now let me brag on the dream team: Cole, William, Charlie, and Steven. These guys rolled up like pros, handled everything with care, and worked like a well-oiled machine. Every one of them was polite, professional, and just downright pleasant to have around. Not one grumbled, cut corners, or acted like they were doing us a favor. I have used Cedar Electrical three times and keep coming back. They have changed out fixtures over stairwells, cut and installed recessed lights, and installed fans where there were no fans before. During my most recent experience, Dan came out to upgrade some smart switches for us. He was prompt, quick, professional, and left everything cleaner than it had been. Scheduling with Sam was easy and they had a few different options to choose from. I also appreciated that they provided text updates for the appointment, when the electrician was on the way, and also shared a photo so I knew exactly who to look for. TLDR: Cedar Electrical Services was awarded a contract to install an electric vehicle (EV) charger at my residence. The inspector came to identify a breakerlock was needed to pass inspection. Sam of Cedar said he had one in the car, inspector left, he then came back and took it off another breaker in my home and moved it to the new EV breaker and said it was done. Then lied about it and claimed he didn't know how it happened. Also the drywall work was a mess, see pictures. Sam Zettersten, accompanied with the Loudoun County Inspector, reviewed the electrical work. The County inspector identified and verbally communicated that the 60A electric car charger breaker would require a breaker lock to pass inspection. Sam Zettersten said he was not aware of this rule, but he had one in the car and would retrieve it and install it. The county inspector proceeded to give Cedar Electric a signed electrical inspection permit with the agreement that Cedar Electric will install the breaker lock. Mr. Zettersten proceeded to go back to his work vehicle to find that he did not have an extra breaker lock available. Instead of procuring the required missing piece, Mr. Zettersten re-entered the home to unethically remove an existing breaker lock from one on the other circuits and move it to the new 60A circuit breaker. Mr. Zettersten identified that the issue was resolved and proceeded to exit the home, as the job was complete. At that point, I inspected the work that was done and noticed that Sam had not only lied but put the home, the inspection, and the reputation of Cedar Electric in danger. I approached Mr. Zettersten and told him what had occurred and that he needed to fix it. At first he seemed confused, but then he looked back at pictures he took and confirmed that the existing breaker lock was missing and maybe it fell. After numerous back-and-forth arguments that the lock had been moved and did not fall, Mr. Zettersten continued to make up stories and excuses that it was inadvertent and he didn't realize what he was doing. After again reiterating that he needed to remedy the work to meet the electrical code, he again said he had one in the car. After a few minutes of searching, Mr. Zettersten returned to say he needed to go to the store to buy one. After 30 minutes, Mr. Zettersten returned with a new breaker lock and installed the lock to my satisfaction. After repeated requests to take accountability, Mr. Zettersten left stating again that he was not sure how it got moved and must have been inadvertent. He refused to take responsibility and accountability for his deceptive actions that put the entire home and its residents at risk. read more

Dan came to fix a problem with 2 outlets not working and to install a kitchen ceiling light/fan fixture. He alerted me when he was on his way, was courteous and respectful. He identified a reset button for the outlet and showed me what to do if I encountered that problem. He installed the kitchen light quickly, and cleaned out the old fixture. We are very happy with the work performed by Cedar. The electrician was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable.

Every aspect of their process was excellent. We had a large job - many rooms of a new house needed recessed lighting, chandeliers, ceiling fans, etc. The first two companies we called both recommended to us by neighbors would not come out to do an estimate. Instead, they wanted us to list details of each part of the job and do the measurements. They would then quote us, but would not be bound by the quote if they found out that it was more work than we had said. I was shocked. I never heard that from a service vendor before. Cedar, on the other hand, sent out one of their electricians to look, measure and quote. He also gave us suggestions that we would not have thought of. We hired them and they sent a large crew so that the job wouldn't take too long. They were all incredibly pleasant and never complained about anything we asked them to do -including moving the same dining room furniture more than once. They also clean up as they go, which most contractors do not. Finally, they came in very close to the quote, with the only addition being completely justified. Any electrical work we need in the future will be done by them. I wouldn't even get another quote. That's how pleased we are. read more
