My favorite coffee shop in Flagstaff! A little removed from town, being on the north-slightly east side, but worth the drive. The inside is welcoming and has a fireplace with a sitting area that is perfect for relaxing and drinking a hot chai latte. The pastries are all homemade and the coffee is local! We stopped here on a road trip and I couldn't be happier that we did. The service was great, and our coffee and pastries were perfect. We ordered the Marshmallow Latte, and when asked what size we wanted I told the barista to choose the size she thought would best serve the drink best. Her recommendation was spot-on. Most flavored lattes I've had in the past were too sweet, but the balance of flavor and coffee in the Marshmallow Latte was perfect. We enjoyed our drink so much that we made sure to take the same driving route back from our trip so we could pass by Cedar House Coffee shop again. This time we ordered two Marshmallow Lattes and they were both just as good as our first one. I love consistent coffee and great service. This is a must-visit in Flagstaff. I was a pretty loyal customer for a few months when it first opened. However, I stopped going because of the generally rude treatment from the baristas and very long waiting time for a specialty drink. What first drew me in was the beautiful building renovations and chic atmosphere. I even purchased some cute merchandise. The pricing wasn't too bad either. However, waiting 15 minutes for a 12 oz latte became too much. Especially when I felt more like a nuisance than a welcomed customer. The coffee and expresso was not good enough to keep me coming despite it all. And what was pretty off putting was that I found out it is owned by a local church. I would like to first start off this review with saying how much I adore Cedar House Coffee Shop, and love to support local business. I have never had a better iced chai before I came here, and the location is convenient! It's one of my favorite neighborhood coffee shops; I go there weekly as well take clients here on frequent meetings. On 6/18/15 I arrived at 4:45pm to get a quick afternoon iced coffee with a client, upon walking in I was greeted by the barista who was taking down the umbrellas on the patio when she notified me she was closed for the day. Initially, I was embarrassed in front of my guest as I had raved about this coffee shop. I was confused because I have gone here around 4:30-4:45 on serval occasions and was never denied service. I'm in the hospitality business and I understand when a business is closing and being as I was there 15 minutes prior and noticing people still in the facility, I felt extremely aggravated. The barista gave me no other explanations and continued with what she was doing. I would hate to stop coming in and supporting your business, but I believe you should be aware of your customer service that's being given. read more

Lame. Got a decaf latte with two shots that tasted burnt, and was poorly made with no crema, just a bunch of foam. True small town "espresso" that's poor to mediocre and passed off as acceptable because no one knows any better. Come on people, up your game. Try Vivace in Seattle, Blue Bottle in San Fran, Intelligensia in LA... They've been making outstanding espresso since the '80s. It's not hard, you just have to figure it out.
