I am visiting family in Crystal River and we all decided to go out for Steamed Gulf shrimp with Old Bay. I called the seafood restaurant around the corner first to confirm that they carried it and was told yes so we headed over there. What a disaster. First they say they serve it but after we were seated and got our drink order we find out that its not on the menu nor do they serve it. The waitress had no idea what steamed shrimp was. She served drinks before resolving the shrimp issue so now its complicated. We decided to go elsewhere. Thats when it hit the fan. Let me tell you - verbal abuse from your waitress is still ABUSE. and shame on you for being so disrespectful to a senior citizen and customer. I also got the shakedown from our server Michele who refuses to go get a manager my family requested to speak to and now claims she can be a manager. I was in the mood for shrimp n grits and found CRS on the internet. drove from Brooksville and arrived around 345 pm... after entering what looked like an empty room with a counter, We waited over 10 minutes for someone to come out and say we will be with you or something I looked into the other 2 rooms for an employee and could not find anyone who looked like they worked there. no one cleaning or carrying food... Even room with a bar had no bartender. WE got back in the car and spent our money up the road...it was disappointing after driving there to have to eat somewhere else when we could have stayed closer to home and went to a place we know is good. read more

The fish was good and tasty but the garlic mashed potatoes were to sweet tasting and I thought they came out of a can. I will go back but only for the fish and hush puppies which were delicious. Big fan of Cedar River since first time I went in 1987, Gainesville Florida. I have family been going there longer. Been to the one in Crystal River and had nothing but problems. Once a bit after they opened and yesterday. First time ordered ahead to pick up. Food Wasn't fired up till after I got there and sat a good long while. I'm a patient person. But that was a crazy amount of time to get pre ordered food out of there. Yesterday much worse. Understaffed, over worked, kitchen not hitting it right. Came in, ordered food after waiting my turn in line and asked for a ton of tartar sauce. Ton of people coming in behind me. Was told order would be put in computer after all were seated. But folks just kept coming. That room was full and cleared a couple times over. Then a lady told me someone had put in my order. I continued to wait. After at least an hour in all she came and said they were out of something I ordered. Over an hour in! Told them what I'd like to replace it. Waited... tap tap tap.... Food comes out. Oh we are out of Hush puppies as the bag is handed to me. Take it out to family been in the car the whole time. Three sides of blue cheese dressing and zero tartar not even a lemon with seafood meals. 2/3 of my moms food not there. I and my two sister-in-laws came for lunch on a Monday around 2 p.m. I got the fried flounder sandwich with mashed sweet potatoes and they each got the ayce flounder and shrimp. Everything was cooked to perfection. They tried both shrimp and flounder fried, blackened, and broiled . They didn't truly care for the seasoning on the blackened. Nothing was greasy. My husband and I went to this restaurant around 11:40 am so we were the 3rd group to enter. We had the most wonderful server named Anna. She was so personable and was there right away. About 10 minutes later a group of 16 people sat by us. Our poor server was the only one in there that room because the other server that was suppose to come in did not show up. Anna was occupied with taking orders for the large group and I needed some seasoning for my shrimp. It was pretty bland without extra Old Bay. I reached out to the other server from the other room who walked by our booth. I said, 'Excuse me, could I get some Old Bay seasoning?' Ginger, gave me the dirtiest look and walked away. She never brought any to me nor told my server that I asked for some. My server still had a half of a table to take care of so I could not ask her. It was so long before Anna was able to come back so I saved my shrimp to take home so I could spice it up. I had crab legs, boiled shrimp with Old Bay, baked beans, Mac and cheese with hush puppies. Lunch prices were great and food was also very good except for the bland shrimp. It just needed more seasoning. Beware of Ginger. She called our server away when she was talking to us to make drinks for her. Customer service is not her top priority unlike Anna who is top notch. We had no silverware, they should be placed on the tables along with the menu's by the hostess. Peel shrimp were hard to peel and i think not fresh. Ok so new restaurant and nice interior. Had crabs and they came cold but they took it back and brought new ones. Had cod blackened and was really good. Wife had Cobia and it also was good daughter had snow crabs. First the snow crabs were really salty but had three pounds and were good. Waitress was not trained right. I was not even done with my food and she dropped the check on the table. It felt like a fast food restaurant. After I left the table to use the restroom the waitress came back and said I hurt her feelings of what I said about the check. One thing if she said do you want dessert or anything else but she did not and put the check down and walked away. The restaurant was crowded and it felt like it. Over all I would give it a 7 out of 10. They need to train the staff not to put the check down before they ask if you want anything else, may go back another time and see if the service is still bad. read more
