This is the restaurant located inside the resort. They are struggling to get people back to work so there were some long wait times. More on the first visit than our last. I don't mind waiting but at least bring us our drinks. It makes it easy to forgive long waits with a cocktail. :oP Our first visit we had reservations and were seated pretty quick. Nice view out the windows of the river. For this night we started with some soups. The soup of the day was a creamy mushroom soup. This was pretty good, kinda sweet. The other soup, a Corn chowder was super delicious. Definitely get this. We then had a Caesar salad. It was dressed well, if not a tab over by our server but tasty. Finally we ordered the Ribeye. It was cooked well and had a nice sear. Flavors were good. Nothing spectacular but good. On our second visit I had the Crawfish etouffe. It was really good. Not a deep flavor but really good and Deb had the Plantation seafood pasta. It had lots of good seafood and a delicious, creamy sauce. I liked it but Deb was meh. Over all I was pretty impressed with the flavors of the food. Deb not so much. I think it is a solid spot if you are staying at the resort and don't want to drive anywhere. Service is ok. Giving a 3 mostly because of price. It is really high. Food is not too bad, but not like the best ever for these prices. Meal was about $100 before tip for what you see in the pics. Our waitress was great and provided great service. That was a plus. They seated us by the windows near the pool. That was a great view, but cold the day we were there. Our group of 6 had to eat at a table in the bar area as it was over a two-hour wait for the dining room. Service was slow. Menu printed on copy paper. Our meals came out at four separate times, mine being the last to be served. The rest of our table had finished eating by the time my HOT DOG AND CHIPS arrived. Thank goodness the meal only cost about $6.00! The menu said the meal would include a pickle spear. I didn't get one, but I was so hungry by the time my food arrived that I didn't want to wait any longer for anything else. My waitress brought me a 2nd beer after the LONG wait. Popped in for breakfast here after an early morning of swimming with the manatees. We sat outside on the patio and soaked up the beautiful views of the pool and river. We had just swam with manatees so I had to stay on theme and order the manatee pancakes. They were so cute! We also had the omelet , which was tasty . Our server kept our glasses full while being both attentive and prompt . Docking a star because when I checked in on Yelp , there was an offer for a glass of wine . When I attempted to redeem there was a whole lot of confusion . I had to go to the front registration desk . While waiting to speak with the woman behind the desk , I overheard the guest in front of me ask for a receipt . The employee balked and questioned why he wanted a receipt . I was standing near so it was impossible for me not to hear and I thought the way the employee handled the simple request was very unprofessional. I knew then I was in for a trouble with my little Yelp offer lol. When it was my turn the employee made me feel like a big inconvenience - she exclaimed she had no clue about the Yelp offer and made several phone calls and took several pictures of my phone and acted like they were about to lose 1000 over a cheap glass of wine ! I finally was about to walk away and I guess she just saw my frustration and approved it . Had I realized at the dining table it was going to be such an ordeal I would have not brought it up . Anyways , we did redeem the Yelp offer for a glass of wine but the front desk employee needs a training class on basic customer service. As of May 2021, here's a few things to note: - The restaurant is located inside the Plantation Resort. You don't have to be a guest of the resort to dine here. -Plenty of free on site parking. -There's an indoor bar with a piano and also an outdoor tiki bar . - There's a YELP offer for a free glass of wine when you checkin on the app . Hopefully, my situation mentioned above will make it easier for you to redeem the offer:) I think we'd give this place another shot if we are ever in the area again . We have visited this resort frequently and have found the staff and restaurant employees very helpful and courteous until Wednesday December 28. We decided to check out the outdoor tiki bar for a cocktail. We sat at the bar in front of two half eaten meals that were pushed towards the bar. The dark haired bartender ignored us numerous times and even closed out the couple next to us, looked directly at us and walked away. We decided to leave at this point and take our business elsewhere. We will certainly return for the aquatic center and indoor restaurant, but will not revisit this part of the resort. read more

I ate at West 82 four times during my visit (the restaurant is part of the Plantation Resort) - twice each for dinner and breakfast. I gave 4 stars but could have been three. Thought on my meals Dinner: Rib eye steak - testimony to what a good chef can do to a mid-quality piece of meat. It was actually really good but the cut was far less than the price would warrant. The side veggies were spot on. Grouper/grits/roasted cauliflower- grouper was borderline fishy but perfectly cooked. The grits were decent but unremarkable and the cauliflower was over cooked. Breakfast: I had Eggs Benedict for both visits. The first time was fantastic. The hollandaise was hand made and excellent. Eggs were poached perfectly. On my second visit, I order grits with the Eggs Benedict. The grits were fantastically disappointing. A place like this should get grits spot on. These were instant, tasteless and completely unacceptable in my book. Over all, West 83 is decent but overpriced. Don't order the grits. read more

Came here for Sunday Brunch. It was great. It is not a huge spread but the selection was perfect. They had cold seafoods, salads, breads, breakfast & lunch entrees & dessert. We were staying at the Plantation Inn. It was later in the day, on the day we arrived, and we didn't really like searching for a place to eat. Being a party of five, keeping it close to "home" seemed to be the way to go. Plus, we did hear good things about the inn's restaurant. Normally I shy away from hotel restaurants, but in this case it was good. Our server was Cassandra and we all agreed she did a good job. Knew the menu. made good suggestions. Very nice. Everyone pretty much went for fish, I mean really, what else are you going to do? There was not an entrée that disappointed... Well maybe one, but only for a bit. My meal did not come out with everyone else's, but when it did it had extra piece of fish, so that more than made up for it. Some of us had the She crab soup, and we all agreed it needed (more) sherry, or at least sherry on the side. When we mentioned this, Casandra returned with extra sherry. Kudos for that, and it was what the soup needed. We also ate in the restaurant for our included breakfast. It was buffet style, with the typical choices, and was also quite good. Bottom line: A very nice, fresh, dining experience. Oh, and if you are here fishing or scalloping, the restaurant will prepare your cleaned fish/scallops. We started with the Baked Brie. The portion size is good and enough to share with maybe even 3-4. However, my husband & I managed to inhale it all on our own. For dinner, I had the Grouper Sandwich and he had the Shrimp Tacos. Both were good and nicely presented. Our server brought out a garlic-cilantro sauce for the plantain chips that was delicious! We also ordered a pitcher of Sangria and that was the only let down. It pretty much tasted like fruit punch. We also had breakfast there twice. Once, we did the buffet which was goo & plentiful. The next day we ordered a la carte. My husbands Ham Steak breakfast was huge. I chose the Waffle with Strawberries & Whipped Cream. I expected strawberries with strawberry sauce topping. But no, it's a waffle topped with a few strawberries with a side of cream and a side of maple syrup. I don't like maple syrup, so I was pretty disappointed. I ended up stealing my husband's biscuit and a piece of his ham steak. But no worries, he got my waffle. :) West 82 is a great dining option. They have indoor and outdoor seating so you can have a gorgeous view, I'd suggest going at sunset. Wanted to like this place because it is located in a beautiful hotel. We went for dinner, 4 of us. Everyone was fine with their meals but I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken. I asked for the chicken well done and that was done correct but my salad was ALL red/brown lettuce hiding under a mound of cheese and dressing tasted as it came from a squeeze bottle and for a $14 salad that is absurd! Corn bread was hard and drinks were heavy on mixers...barely any liquor. The potato was okay but small for the price. Steaks ordered were mainly fat but they tasted good. Waitress was apologetic and comped my meal as I could not eat the lettuce especially with all the lettuce issues lately. Unfortunately, while trying to enjoy coffee and conversation a giant cockroach was running around the dining room. This gem is located at a local boutique hotel that is welcoming and inviting. The place is nicely decorated, and the service is excellent. I sat at the bar for my meal, and the bartender was so friendly. I ordered the garden salad with grouper- decided on this as opposed to the scallops per recommendation of the bartender. I was so glad I tried this fresh local catch- it was delicious! Seasoned well and cooked to a nice chewy texture ( I believe that is how grouper is supposed to be). Restaurant was convenient since we stayed at the plantation. Ordered Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. Well, that's all you get. No salad, no bread. I understand this is a nice restaurant but it was not even offered as an option when questioned. A bit disappointing also as the chicken tasted as it was once frozen. Taste was ok at best. Wait staff were abundant and patrons were low but had to wait a long time for the waitress to come by so we could flag her down for drink refills. We will not be returning. read more

We sat in the bar area which was very nicely decorated. Drink menu was great. I had an Elite Martini (whiskey, mint, lime and topped with champagne) yum! We just wanted something light so my boyfriend ordered blackened fish tacos and I ordered chicken Caesar salad. There was quite a wait as they were busy but our waitress was attentive. Jalapeño corn bread while we were waiting. When the food arrived, my boyfriend's fish was fried instead of blackened and the chicken was cold and slightly undercooked. Crab cakes for an appetizer were excellent all flaky crab and the crust was perfect. We had the NY Steak for dinner, cooked perfectly and the sauce was very good. This place is amazing. We just came back from a bad experience at charlie's fish house, but that's not the point. We needed food at this point really badly and anything on the menu we saw we would order. We just really needed food badly. I got the hotdog as something quick and easy, and it was amazing!! When we moved to Hernando back in October, this would be our go to place for a good dinner or drinks . The last two times we were there , dinner s were not up to par . . First couple times we had dinner there it was wonderful. We were there in January and February 8 th , We wondered what had happened to the kitchen . My husband talked me into ordering the blackened shrimp. He had blackened fish at other restaurants and raved about it. I took a bite of the shrimp and it was spicy and salty ( not what I think of as blackened shrimp). I did tell our server Katlyn that I would take it home to our daughter because it was to spicy and salty for me . She did offer to replace it . We had already waited 1/2 hour between the salad and getting the entree. I brought the shrimp home to our daughter who lived in New Orleans . She knew this was not what blackened fish should taste like and would not eat it either. I ended up throwing my $19 shrimp dinner out minus the potatoes and vegetables. I did call the restaurant and asked for the manager. I was told they were gone but told they would connect me to the supervisor to talk to . It ended up being our server Katelyn . I explained to her that my daughter who liked spicy and salt would not even eat the blackened shrimp. She had told me ( this was a Friday evening) that she would have a manager call me back . It is now March 7 . I never heard from a manager . I am not looking for a credit a new dinner . I always try to resolve a matter like this with a manager first . I tried and even after talking to Katlyn who was in charge and said she would have a manager call me back , this failed . Right now despite loving the view and the restaurant and at one point the food , I am not sure I want to go back . Maybe we hit two bad nights . When I call a restaurant and ask to talk to a manager, but don't get a response, I write a review . Not getting a response was very disappointing. read more

I know that a lot of restaurants are understaffed right now and as a former waitress and bartender I have a lot empathy and can overlook many things when it comes to service- but I will not tolerate rude and nasty. This was actually quite a good bar and restaurant. The cornbread that accompanied my meal could have been a meal on it's own. It had excellent texture of corn bread grittiness and also a nice smooth final palate and the flavor was a butter with a kick of spice and still I tasted the corn. The sandwiches are solid choices. The crab cake was lump crab which was nice. Blackened fish tacos had great flavor. Drinks tasted a little watered down but maybe I'm just a lush. Just went here for Sunday brunch. It is bar none the best brunch place in the Hernando and Citrus area. The food was well prepared and everything I tried was delicious. (And I tried a lot!). They offered something for everyone. Eggs made to order, waffles, blintzes, smoked salmon, fruit and cheese and much more. Perfectly cooked pork, prime rib and pastas. The deserts were also good. If you are looking for a great brunch place this is it. Special occasions such as Mother's Day require two months in advance reservations. Price was $23 per person. A bargain.
