Went there Saturday evening. Ordered a wine an appetizer, salad and main course. Told the wait staff that I did not want to be rushed and that I clearly did did want the next course brought out until I had finished the current one. Guess what: we hadn't finisher the appetizer when the salad appeared, remined the staff of my previously stated desire and they said fine, then before we eat half our salad out comes the main course: told staff to take it back until we were ready and was told they couldn't do that, I said they had too. All in all the food was mediocre, the service was awful and will never go there again, and unless that sort of service is acceptable neither should you: unless it's for a QUICK so-so meal. It's too bad as the last time the owner was there and the entire experience was great, sad to see such a negative change. read more

There are many positive reviews for this gem of a place, and I am not going to break that tradition. Yes, it's a cozy and tiny family run place in a dark corner of a shopping center on Wickham, but as was said before, it is REALLY EXCEPTIONAL!! The owner is truly of Lebanese origin, and really friendly, she's the chef and she will come out and chat frequently, depending on how busy she is. The non-family personnel there have told us that they are treated like family! A previous reviewer spoke of how she had ordered something and before the order was put in, a taste was given to make sure that it was something the she would enjoy. That was my first experience there, as well!! How cool is that?? We have had many of the items on the menu, kebabs, shwarma, hoummous, baba, etc. As previously opined by others, all are exceptional and cooked with love. Maybe it is me, but I feel that the best Middle Eastern food always seems to come out of Lebanese establishments. I *love* this little gem of a restaurant. It's the tastiest, most authentic (errr, I think. I've never been to Greece or any other Mediterranean countries) Greek food I've had. The combination platters are fabulously fresh and delicious. The falafel has tiny bits of crunchiness that really add to the texture; its delicately fried, just enough to give it a beautiful crisp, but it's still light as whipped clouds. The fava bean dip and hummus are fantastic as well. But my favorite is the fluffy rice topped with some mystery ambrosia sauce. I bought a whole bunch of stuff and drove it three hours to visit a friend. After 30 torturous minutes amidst the delicious aromas, I couldn't help it any longer and ripped the bag open as best I could while still maintaining control of the car, and proceeded to scoop the spreads up with my dirty fingers into my mouth. Mmmmmmmmm. I was a little disappointed by the chicken pita and gyro, but that may because I ate them after they'd been refrigerated. Did I mention this place is dirt-cheap? For a New Yorker, anyways. Blink, and you might miss it. The Cedar's Cafe, I mean. A seemingly tiny restaurant nestled in a strip mall near other larger food chains we won't mention here (because they cannot compare.) The windows in the bright Floridian sun reflect, so it's difficult to get a glimpse inside. Once you open the door, however, you're transported inside a small, but intimate, clean, unique dining environment. The tables and chairs are covered with fabric, glass over the top of table clothes. The walls appear to be hand painted Mediterranean scenes of water scapes, green hills and vines decorate lattice work to make the diner imagine a garden. It smells divine inside, clean and well trained staff are at the ready to seat you and greet you. The food thought...sweet lord, the food. Nothing is pre-made, everything appears fresh and made to order. The GYROS ARE HEAVEN. I cannot, and have not (and maybe will not) find another restaurant that serves a gyros as tasty, with perfectly spiced, perfectly melt-in-your-mouth tenderness and tangy yogurt sauce as I did here. The baba ganoush is another personal favorite--with a lingering, roasted/smoked flavor that is perfectly matched by the fresh, soft, delicious pita bread chips served with. Just ate here last night. I'm visiting from Los Angeles, so naturally I came in REALLY snobby and skeptical. This was one of the best meals I've ever had; LA, Florida, or anywhere I've ever been. I had the Shwarma dinner and it was insanely good and flavorful. We all enjoyed our dishes, most of which include the "pick three" starters. Not to mention, the server was really quick with my sass and delivered back an unusually bright and quick sarcasm that surprised me. Usually I just get blank stares. I'm special. Great food, great atmosphere and really good prices. Not sure when I'll be back in Melbourne, FL, but this will be my first stop when I come back. Cedars is a great little gem in Melbourne. It has limited seating, but it's an intimate setting. The staff is very accommodating - when I ordered the chicken shwarma sandwich the waitress asked me if this was my first time trying the dish. I said it was, and she brought me out a small sample to make sure I liked the filling! It was excellent. Great, healthy food, charming ambiance and excellent service. This place is so amazing. I wish I could come here more often. if you miss Lebanese food and have a special dish in mind, they will make it for you. They made me manakeesh, which is fresh baked pizza-like dough with zatar (oregano, thyme and sesame) on top. I asked why it wasn't on the menu and the chef explained that if she put everything on the menu she knew how to make, the menu would be 11 pages long and no one would know what to order. Ah, the garlicky lamb, the baklava, the lebne (yogurt with a near cream cheese consistency) they have in the back that isn't on the menu... They cater and have helped make my reputation as having a catering super-power. They have quarterly wine dinners that sound amazing. I nearly cried when I heard her talk about the homemade bastourma (cured veal) and soujuk (spicy sausage) she was making for the November wine dinner that I wouldn't get to eat. This is a tiny little place, tucked in a corner near Panera, so we overlooked it after we moved to Melbourne 2 years ago. Now that we discovered Cedars cafe, we love it and recommend it to friends! My husband loves everything Greek. I'm a bit more cautious but willing to try new foods (although I draw the line at calamari, despite rave reviews). Everything here is freshly made and delicious--love the chicken shish and veggies and Greek salad. They have a "pick 3" which narrows down your choices, if you're overwhelmed, as I was my first visit. We enjoy the selection of wines ... and Greek beer. Wonderful little spot! read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Melbourne. The Shish Touk is amazing! My only complaint is that they are not open on Sundays. Also, they serve dinner until they run out of food, so if you have your heart set on a certain dish, don't get there late! I am a big fan of Cedars Cafe. The food is always wonderful each time I go! My favorite dish is Renee's Shish taouk! It comes with rice mixed with pine nuts which I absolutely love. The restaurant itself is a small, family owned place, but in my opinion these are the best places for original, quality food. The 10 times or so I've been there (for both lunch and dinner), the staff has always been extra informative and friendly. What used to be one of our favorite restaurants has taken a step backwards. Any menu adjustments are forbidden. Taboule was just okay last night. There are apparently no gluten-free options with the hummus. They have Greek salad and gyros on the menu, but no kalamata olives are available. Waitstaff was slow and inattentive. Awesome! This place is one-of-a-kind. We love everything about it - the ambiance, the friendly service, our favorite Mediterranean foods at decent prices... Falafel, foule, baba ghanoush, hummus, olives, simply delicious! This place easily fills up, and the tables are small, so its not ideal for larger groups. Lunch hour can be busy with the work crowd as well, but (fortunately?) there is a Panera bread next door.. I tried it and can't say I've had better. I ordered a Lamb Salad, which was perfectly cooked. One of the few reasons I miss Melbourne living. Cedars is a little jewel tucked into the corner of a Publix plaza on Wickham Road. Inside, the owner and staff have taken time to decorate the very small space lovingly. The staff is absolutely friendly and welcoming. The food... The food is absolutely delicious. I have dreams about this food. I've tried many different things on the menu, and nothing is anything short of superb homemade Lebanese food. All elements of the salad were looked and tasted fresh. Salad was above average, but a little lackluster as a signature dish. Superb tzatziki sauce. Service was prompt and assertive. We tried Cedars based on all the good reviews and it didn't disappoint. We hadn't reserved an indoor seat ahead of time, but the server was able to squeeze us in, which was much appreciated. I ordered the baked kibbe with a side of falafel, grape leaves and hummus. The kibbe was freshly prepared, light and moist, not an over cooked brick out of the microwave. I really appreciated their stuffed grape leaves. A lot of restaurants will serve canned stuffed grape leaves because the preparation is time consuming, but not Cedars. The hummus was creamy with a lite flavorful olive oil. The falafel was good, but may have been from a mix. I highly recommend their deserts served with cardamom infused Turkish coffee. The dining room itself isn't large, but is clean with modern decor. It's a good date night restaurant. My wife really liked the comfortable chairs. Tip well! We found the servers to be very knowledgeable, accommodating and charming. We will definitely be back. read more

I love Lebanese and Mediterranean food. We went here after a martial arts lesson and had dinner for 2 adults and 2 kids. Maybe we came on the wrong day, or maybe it was a new chef, but the food was not authentic nor good. The chicken taook did not taste like it had been marinated on yogurt and seasonings. The meat was dry and the flavor was only on the surface. Covering it with am overly strong garlic sauce did not help. The lamb kebabs suffered from a similar problem, that is the taste was on the surface only, with no evidence of having been marinated or soaked in seasonings at all. It tasted more like barbecue than authentic kebabs. The people were very nice and I wish that we enjoyed the food more. read more

The Shwarma salad is awesome, I always get extra garlic sauce on the side, the only other place that beats the garlic sauce is in Buena Park, Ca so needless to say this stuff is AWESOME!!! The gyro is great, pita bread is super soft and for $6 a wrap you can't go wrong for lunch. The service is always great although I have noticed that if I come after 11:30 it's starts to get super busy and it's a small restaurant. If you are a garlic-aholic or need a gyro fix this is defintiely the place to come. Only reason I gave it a 4 star was because they started charging extra for extra sauce on the side:( read more

I usually love Cedars however this particular time was not so great. I have been to other Mediterranean restaurants locally recently and have found them to be superior. I ordered the Chicken kabob dinner with rice and soup and the soup was the only decent part about it. The chicken was chewy and seemed undercooked. The rice was generic. The most important part, the garlic sauce was the consistency of jello. It was terrible. We did order a hummus appetizer which their hummus is just bland. If you want really authentic, delicious hummus you're better off driving further south to Middle Eastern Aromas. I will say the waiter was very friendly but that did not sell me on the meal. read more

This small 32 seat Cafe has been opened for 7 years and their prices have all but remained the same. The family atmosphere makes you feel as if you've come home.
