Beef shawarma
Heidi B.

Went to wickham park and wanted something close but different! Was so glad we decided to check out this tiny little cafe. Off the bat we noticed how incredibly clean the restaurant was. Very small space and it was incredibly busy with only one table open inside. Only one server was there but she did a great job tending to all the tables including a large group next to us. Friend had the falafel and he said it was one of the best he'd had. Grape leaves tasted great also. Entrees did seem priced a little high so we opted for wraps. The beef shawarma was perfect albeit a little too much sauce but tasted amazing. Will stop by again for sure.

Toni, the owner's daughter is so passionate about the food and it shows. She is very knowledgeable and caters to requests. She took time to see if we enjoyed our meals. We enjoyed everything. I tasted several desserts and got some to go.

The food is awesome! Today, when hubby and I visited we ordered a lot, but some we were taking home for leftovers and for our son. I ordered the sumac salad for the first time and it was delicious! (Sumac is a Mediterranean spice that is lemony. ) I also ordered the lentils and rice with garlic sauce on the side, it's one of my go-to's here for an appetizer! I also ordered the 1kebab kefta platter with vegetables, oh yummm!! My husband had the grape leaves for his appetizer, and ordered a 2nd set of them to take home, he loves how the chef makes them! He ordered a beef schwarma wrap and a chicken schwarma salad. His wrap fell apart, since he could only hold it with one hand today ( he had hand surgery earlier today, hence difficulty!). He really liked both of them! He's had the wrap before, but first time with a schwarma salad. Great lunch to be had! We really like the atmosphere in there! There are days when we go there and it's super busy, there are also quieter times like when we stopped in later for lunch today!!

My Greek salad with chicken and my date's meal

I had the Greek salad with chicken and it was FANTASTIC! Service was impeccable. And, ambiance was intimate and romantic. Going into our favorites!

I'm really upset I hadn't tried this place sooner! The service is friendly & warm, they converse w/ u while they bring your drinks. The food doesn't take long. It's fresh & flavorful, my 7 yr old enjoyed the food as well. The portions are nice, the prices are reasonable. For 2 people we spend about $25 w/o alcohol. I love how they serve the drinks, you get your own personal refill. The Tzatziki sauce is wonderful w/ the falafels. They only offer one size of tzatziki but she made an exception & brought me a smaller size. The falafels are the perfect texture w/ plenty of flavor. The mushroom hummus was the best I've had. It's a weekly special, I'm hoping w/e to come will be just as delicious. The Greek salad was fresh, I would like a few more peperoncino & cucumbers. I do wish they had sangria. They do offer wine & beer. The establishment is cozy & clean. There's plenty of seating. They do require a mask to sit inside.

You have very friendly group that was sincere at welcoming us...Heard it from the initial phone call I made to check if reservations were needed to the moment Dave held the door open as we left because I assisted my father and had to hold him. Appreciate that. Now for the food. Simply worth the wait! We started with the abundant Hot Mezza Combination to offer my parents a variety since this was their first time to try the cuisine. Dad enjoyed it, mom love it, esp the baba ghanouj...we all did. All on the platter was perfect, esp the falafel, the light tender mixture was beautifully seasoned with the fresh green herbs (thinking parsley, dill?, mint AND the kibbeh. Enjoyed our entrees, Ouzi (described like beef wellington), 2 skewers of lamb, 2 skewers of beef) no room for dessert. The skewers were so tender and seasoned perfectly...rice & veggie were also perfect. What a great place to have celebrated my parent's 61st Anniversary! Just a small suggestion, to review your pricing, to get more people in the door. You have a beautiful place, incredibly amazing cuisine, and excellent team of servers, etc. Will be back, always

Headline: $18 for a Veggie Sandwich? Overpriced, Authentic in Name Only, Where is the beef?!!…read more Save your money and check your food before you pay. I paid over $18 for a Shish Kafta sandwich that was basically all bread and garnish. I'm not exaggerating--there was barely a morsel of meat in every bite. It felt like a total rip-off!!! As someone who has worked in Middle Eastern kitchens for years, this was a massive letdown. Red flags from the start: the waitress claimed Shish Taouk (tawook) is the "fastest" item (proper chicken takes time!), and the cook wasn't even middle eastern and clearly had no idea what he was doing. The Tabbouli arrived dry and unseasoned, no lemon juice or even wedges??? I ordered the Shish Kafta ($18+), and it was an embarrassment. There was so little meat it was practically a salad wrap. When you pay nearly $20 for a sandwich, you expect a proper protein portion, not a "hint" of Kafta. No lemon, no napkins, no utensils, no attention to detail. This place relies on the name of the food without understanding the food combining principles of the recipe. Check your bag before you leave, or better yet, go elsewhere. The only thing that seemed authentic about this place is that the owner is arabic.

**INITIAL REVIEW** I…read moream currently on a Greek/Mediterranean food kick after eating it, which was fantastically made and indulged in, when I was at the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs, FL. To my delight, Melbourne Main Street a.k.a. Historic Downtown Melbourne finally had such food added to its food scene when Aya Mediterranean Cuisine (which I will shorthand simply to Aya for the remainder of this review) opened up. Eventually, I got to try Aya out albeit their lunch menu initially. What I got was a fantastic meal in which I long to try more of their fare. Aya is located on the northern side of New Haven Blvd. in Historic Downtown Melbourne. It is the last business on the west side of the train tracks, which used to be Continental Flambe if anyone remembers that. I went in at the latter end of Aya's lunch hours as they close around 2 p.m. to prepare for the dinner rush. The decor looks more like a rustic upscale tavern flanked by fine dining decor, both from the 1980s. Aya was clean with the space optimized to fit the most patrons during a rush, but the restaurant does need some TLC. Almost all the ceiling's tiles had water damage and the carpet was frayed. Not sure if this is something Aya can fix or if the landlord of the building is blocking them from doing renovations, but it is noticeable. To keep things simple, I ordered the Gyro Wrap ($13.99), which was seasoned beef and lamb with feta cheese, onions, lettuce, tomatoes and tzatziki sauce. Side options can be more traditional sit-down with rice or a salad (I assume it is a feta salad), but more of the "fast food" route with fries. I like how they deconstructed the wrap with the slices of beef and lamb, veggies, and sauce being separate, but assembled with pita cut into corners/chips. Yet, all the lamb and beef are on top of one small pita so you can add the veggies and sauce. And if you ordered fries, you can add them in too for the "food truck" experience. Not sure if Aya will allow you to use ketchup on a gyro wrap though. On a sidenote, there was a back "bar" area where alcoholic beverages are sold, and the restrooms - at least the men's restroom - was clean. Ultimately, Aya blends class with a family-feeling when eating at their restaurant. They even give more specification to their food as the generalization may be Greek/Mediterranean, but they have specialization in Lebanese and Moroccan cuisine, something I am sure the family whom owns it, spearheaded by the owner and chef Ziad Aseid, envisioned when they opened this restaurant. Despite the visual issues I found with the restaurant itself, Aya is a solid four-out-of-five stars for their initial review. If they are consistent with their food and service, I will give them their fifth star for consistency in an updated review.

With multiple dining options at this shopping plaza, that is to be expected. Fortunately, a few cars pulled out as I was pulling in, so I got lucky. Walking in, the place is definitely a no-frills type restaurant. There is nothing wrong with that. There is nothing fancy about a gyro. I ordered at the counter and as I was paying with my credit card, the woman pointedly told me that there was a tipping option. Also, be advised that they do charge three and a half percent more if you use a credit card. I went with a special gyro combination, which consisted of a gyro, a side (I went with French fries), and a drink. It was about fifteen dollars after tax. A bit steep, but it is what it is. My food came out in a somewhat slower pace, but it was the height of lunch hour. The gyro was not as filled as I would have liked (especially at fifteen dollars). The French fries were your standard frozen fries bought out of a restaurant supply store. My meal was okay, but nothing overly remarkable. I am torn between giving Gyros & More II either three stars or four stars. It wasn't bad, but it was a bit expensive and I would have liked to have had a bit more meat in the gyro. But still, it was a decent enough lunch. It was also obvious that Gyros & More II was popular. It was pretty crowded when I was there. I guess ultimately I will up it to four stars (though I wish I could give it a three and a half star rating). Oh well, four stars it shall be. If you are in the area and craving a gyro, Gyros & More II offers a decent enough gyro for a bit higher than I think that you should pay, but everything has gone up in price. Four stars it is for Gyros & More II.

Luckily people come and go quickly so I've never had an issue finding a parking spot. It is a casual restaurant that is very popular for to go and take out orders. My go or order is the classic gyro sandwich with all the toppings but there isn't anything I have had there that I do not like. Even when it is busy the wait is not crazy, though calling in to go orders is not a bad idea. Staff is quick, nice, and professional. LPT: pay in cash it is cheaper
