Absolutely unacceptable experience. My wife ordered a special cake for my college graduation--a major milestone for our family--and this shop completely ruined it. She visited the shop a month in advance and showed them a clear photo of the exact design she wanted. English is her second language, but there should have been no confusion: they were given a visual reference, accepted the order, and charged approximately $185. Then, just one day before pickup, they sent her a photo of the finished cake--and it looked nothing like the design they had agreed to make. This was not a minor detail, a slightly different color, or a misspelled name. The entire design was wrong. What they produced looked like a basic grocery-store cake worth a fraction of what she paid, not a professionally designed $185 custom graduation cake. Instead of immediately taking responsibility, apologizing, and trying to make it right, they repeatedly hid behind the invoice--which my wife never signed--and made excuses. If the invoice didn't accurately reflect the reference photo, their staff should have clarified that before accepting payment and making the cake. No one contacted her to discuss limitations, substitutions, or design changes. They simply made something completely different and expected her to accept it. After several frustrating phone calls, we finally received a refund. However, a refund one day before the event does not solve the problem. We are now left without a graduation cake for a party we spent weeks planning because this business failed to communicate, failed to deliver what it accepted payment for, and then refused to honestly own its mistake. I fully expect the owner may respond by blaming the invoice, but that excuse does not hold up. When a customer provides a clear reference photo, the business agrees to the order, and no one communicates that the design cannot be completed, the responsibility belongs to the business--not the customer. Mistakes happen. What reveals a business's character is how it responds. This shop's lack of accountability and professionalism made an already serious mistake even worse. Based on our experience, I would never trust them with another important occasion and strongly recommend that others think twice before ordering a custom cake here.

Celebrity Cake Studio has been my go to since 2011. I got my wedding cake from them and have been getting birthday cakes and cupcakes from them for almost every party I throw for my kids. The quality of the cakes is always 100% and the taste is absolutely delicious. Plus the pricing is not bad at all. They will always be my number one spot when it comes to cake and desserts.

My family surprised me for my birthday with this beautiful, whimsical gnone cake. My children picked out and customized the design and decided on the raspberry lemon flavor. I tried the sandwich cake slice from here -- amazing idea! It made snacking on cake on the go super easy, and both the cake and buttercream were really good. The reason for 3 stars is mainly the vibe. I went to pick up a Too Good To Go order, and after they handed me my items, I kind of got the "why are you still here?" feeling. The staff felt a bit icy, which made me uncomfortable to stick around and browse -- and that's a shame because it looked like they had a ton of other treats I wanted to try. I'd still go back though since the item I did get was really good!

I love this business. They have always treated me very well and they always greet you when you come inside. I have been here several times and given their service I strictly only buy cakes from them. They serviced me for my baby shower and my Childs one year birthday. They work with you on the spot. One cake I bought on the spot due to the luxury of them serving cakes premade and not pre ordered. They always have a variety available of different flavors. Their workers are cleaned up and professional and well spoken. The one time I did preorder for my child they did not disappoint. They also customized her cake on the spot when I ask for any adjustments when there is something you dont like. They give you cupcakes for any errors for free. Love you guys!! Two days before my mom's birthday, my sweet sweet dad called and asked me to take care of her cake. We got her dinner reservation, her gifts.. but no CAKE! As we all know, the birthday cake is a must. My normal to-go Wanna Cupcake couldn't accommodate us (even for a plain cake large enough), but Celebrity Cake Studio to the rescue!! On their website, they lay out so many gorgeous cake options. The garden cake - Delicate Greenery - stood out to me. Calling them, thankfully they said they would be happy to help. And the cake? Pink and chocolate swirl.. sweet (but not too sweet) icing... 8" round for a reasonable price. So, so happy - fed 14 with extra for leftovers. Thank you Celebrity! I came from CA to visit and ordered a chocolate cake for my husband's birthday to celebrate in WA while visiting family. Everyone loved it and agreed that their chocolate cake was moist and absolutely delicious! I will absolutely come to them for all my cake needs in the future. My daughter wanted an Emo cake for her birthday. This is the email I sent them without the pictures... She would like an EMO cake. Black chocolate "frosting" on black chocolate cake. With a strawberry purée between the layers so it looks like it is bleeding when you cut it open. With an EMO Grimace (purple guy from McDonalds). See the attached photos: A cake of chocolate on chocolate as deep brown or black as you can get it with (strawberry/blackberry/raspberry whichever is easiest) compote. The out side would be a purple sided black topped cake with the Grimace with the boys emo hair. I hope I'm describing this right. They sent me back a mock up and it was amazing. I had to move up the date a whole week due to an ordering mishap by her dad and they accommodated the request with no problems. The studio was amazingly clean and bright/cheery. Pick up was easy and the cake was packed so as it didn't move for the whole hour it had to travel. May daughter absolutely loved the cake and it was absolutely delicious. We found this place by chance, we were browsing the bookstore next door and we couldn't resist a slice of cake. We bought a marble eclair mini cake, red velvet mini cake and a slice of the regular chocolate vanilla marble cake. Wasn't inexpensive, I think it was $25 for those three things, the mini cakes are good for two people to share though. I am a fan of a more dense cake and these are perfect. They're dense but light at the same time if that makes sense. I loved the marble cake the most but the other two were delicious. My next birthday cake is going to be from this bakery for sure. They had some of their elaborate wedding cakes on display and they were gorgeous, really good quality work. read more

This is mine and my wife's go to bakery. We used them for our wedding, our birthdays and for our kids. We recently went for our 8yr anniversary to get some mini petite cakes and cupcakes. They were extremely good, the flavors were amazing and the cake was perfect. We will absolutely be coming back for our next celebration and I highly recommend them. My husband's favorite band is Guns n Roses and so for his birthday party, I ordered a custom cake with the GNR logo in front. My husband was so impressed by the cake, he almost didn't want us to cut the cake after we sang happy birthday. And everybody was so amazed and we received so many compliments on how gorgeous it was. For 40$, you get 10 samples of their cakes. With that order comes two of each flavor. These boxes are normally for those planning a wedding and who want to taste test cakes. With that being said, I'm not getting married. I purchased this box solely because I was pregnant and was craving a variety of different cakes. Quite an expensive craving but I was pregnant. I ordered the box online, however, it seems you can pick up without an online order. Now, the reason why I gave them 3 stars was because the flavor of the cakes, at least to me, did not amaze me. They seem to make beautiful aesthetics pleasing cakes but this review is solely based on flavor/taste since it's just sample cakes that I got. The sample box is described as "delicious selection of flavors that serves 6-10 guests". There were three of us tasting the cakes and it certainly could have fed more people. Besides the cakes, the box also came with a card listing down the cakes in chronological order. Unfortunately, the chronological order of the cakes were different in the box from the card so you'd have to guess the cake based on the picture. Not a big deal though since it's pretty obvious which was which. We have had other family order from Celebrity Cake and had heard great things. We ordered our wedding cake and weren't disappointed. It was delicious and looked beautiful. We have since ordered a 65th birthday cake and our baby shower cake. The lemon poppyseed cake is our favorite But you can't go wrong with the any of their flavors. The staff there are very nice and helpful anytime I have called, walked in, or emailed. All around a great experience. read more

When I think of a cake that taste amazing and is luxurious and beautiful on the outside as well I instantly think of Celebrity Cake Studio! This week it was my friends 33rd birthday and she wanted something classic and cute and Celebrity did just ! This pink champagne and raspberry filing was delicious! And we are not fans of super sweet frosting and Celebrity's is perfect! Not overly sweet but leaving you wanting more! Any event we have we use celebrity and are never disappointed! Love this cake. We order a cake for my son's 1st birthday and it was absolutely delicious. I decided I would order again from this business. It was perfect! When I picked up the cake the employee was super friendly, welcoming, and friendly. I had to buy "candles" from the business because I messed up and forgot candles. Thankfully there were some there, however I wished they were slightly different. It's more my fault than theres. Yes I am here doing another review. What can I say? They never fail me. Since my last review I have ordered 5 different cakes from celebrity cake studio (each will be pictured) and would like to review each one. Reason being? Some places make 1 thing great!! And everything else mediocre but that's not the case here. Cake #1. 5 star. Pink lemonade round. I ordered this cake twice. Once as an 8 inch and once as a half sheet. This cake is super moist! And delicious! There's a raspberry preserve type filling in the middle which at first made me hesitant to buy it but after eating it, my gosh...incredible. Frosting nice and airy as well. Cake #2. 4 star. White cake, vanilla buttercream frosting. This cake was perfect for the boys bday. All the kids loved it, it was simple, basic, and perfect for children. The one issue with this cake was that some of the layers weren't completely done. But the symmetry and design were perfect. Cake #3. 5 star. Coconut cream cake!! My partners favorite!! Ordered this cake for his birthday and it did not disappoint! He almost ate the entire thing himself lol! Wasn't dense, nice and light cake, with coconut shavings and cream. Just amazing. Cake #4. 5 star. Pink lemonade half sheet. Big big difference party, everyone asked where the cake was from lol. I was surprised that it was just as good as a half sheet as it was as a round. Cake #5. 5 star. Pink drip Birthday cake. OUTSTANDING!!! Bought this cake for baby's bday and she loved her cake ^_^ and so did the whole party. It was beautifully decorated, it was champagne cake (which has no champagne) and the cake melted in our mouths. People wanted slices to take home to which we kindly declined lol!!! Definitely top tier cakes at this establishment. Will continue to order all of our cakes from here and recommend that you do as well. Also, the service has improved tremendously! There's one specific staff that was rude who isn't there anymore. Whenever I order a cake the process is smooth and every single one of my questions gets answered. Ordered a cake online. Needed one same day for a birthday. I called around to other places but no one could accommodate. Celebrity Cake Studio only needed 3 hour notice. Great! Online ordering and I don't have to talk to anyone. Even better! Ordered the chocolate with raspberry. It is a really pretty cake. Pick up is nice and cold in a cardboard box. Flavor and texture... Not good. Left out for an hour as recommended. It was dry honey. Dry. Also, very little raspberry flavor. One good thing is that the frosting is not super sweet. My husband and I spent Countless hours looking for a bakery that could do the colors we were looking for, and we also tasted probably five or six different different places. Celebrity cake studio Hands-down had the most beautiful cakes and the best tasting by far! We always enjoy celebrating bakery for all of our special occasion. Recently we celebrated my fiancés birthday with the 2024 seasonal Chocolate Raspberry Cake. The cake was beautiful. The delicious chocolate frosting was tastefully decorated with fondant leaves and pumpkins. The side were also decorated Beautifully with leaf patterns. The cake was very moist and delicious. I've ordered the carrot cake 3X now! It doesn't disappoint. Just if you didn't order in advance and is asking them to add text on the cake make sure to specify what color because we got pink frosting for the text and it was too late to change! Would recommend leaving the cake in room temperature for a bit before serving as the frosting gets cold and hard if served right after refrigerated. read more

AMAZING! They made my husband's 39th birthday cake and it was Amazing. Tasted delicious and looked incredible. The service was very fast with at least two weeks in advance notice, I was able to place my order online and went through some details over the phone to order the cake. I could not go into the bakery due to being so close to giving birth and they accommodated me with no issues. Everyone loved the cake so much it did not last long in our fridge! Celebrity Cake Studio is owned and operated by two sisters Odette D’Aniello and Mary Ann Quitugua along with a brilliant team of incredible bakers, cake designers and artisans. We put a lot of love in what we do and are grateful for our customers who have supported us for the past 25 years- that’s how long we have been making cakes here in the Puget Sound. You can find us in our retail store in Tacoma Wa or in grocery stores all over the country and Western Canada under the brand Dragonfly Cakes and Petits Fours.

History

Established in 1999.

Celebrity Cake Studio is owned an operated by Odette D'Aniello and Mary Ann Quitugua along with cousin Wallace Bolo, our baker extraordinaire. We come from a family of bakery owners and joke that we were born with a silver spatula in hand. We opened as Celebrity Bakery in 1999, as a cafe bakery concept in Lacey WA. In 2004, we acquired Cake Studio, which had been in the Freighthouse Square for six years. We closed Celebrity Bakery in the summer of 2004 and consolidated both businesses in the Tacoma facility and merged the name into Celebrity Cake Studio. In January 2012, we moved to our current 6000 sq. ft retail store, which is a beautiful lavender building in the city's Dome District just a block from our old location.

Aubrie was very professional and helped me make a few design changes to the cupcakes. On the day before the scheduled pick up date they sent pictures of the smash cake and cupcakes and they were amazing! Exactly what I had hoped for. The funnest part was designing our cake, they let us sample cake after cake and spent about 3 hours with us helping us choose the size, the flavors, the design, how many tiers... etc... Very sweet and patient. The cake was amazing and my husband and I still go there to have our coffee and a slice of their amazing tea cakes. I have been here many, many times over the years and would not buy a cake anywhere else. You can get almost any cake design you can think of. The staff are very helpful and have many flavors of cake. Many of the flavors I have tried are moist and taste great. I have yet to taste one I did not like. I even tried the carrot cake which I don't usually eat and liked it too. I know they do not have regular open hours for just walk in purchase, but rather, they're custom order type business, but I have yet to place any custom orders so I cannot speak to that experience. What made me write this review is how accurate the owner (Brianne) described cake and desserts in the description and the baked goods taste matched 200% of the description. The pistachio cake was out of the world, so was the whoopie pie!!! I got to meet Brianne in person and she was very friendly, and was kind to explain everything about each of her baked goods she had out that day. I've tried their baked goods from pop tarts to cookies to housemade Twinkie and the creation and taste are unmatched. Single serve baked goods were more on pricier side, but well worth every bite. I would definitely order custom baked goods from here, knowing the quality and taste of products from this shop!!! Currently, you can find Spilled Butter baked goods at Cosmonaut coffee, Outer Dark Coffee, and at Tacoma Farmers Market (also known as Tacoma Broadway Farmers Market) from time to time. Enjoy!!!
