Legacy Vacation Resort Brigantine Beach - View of the hotel from the beach....

The place has so much potential but no one is keeping it up. The towels and linens were clean. I think our biggest complaint was the lack of customer service. There is no daily housekeeping/maid service here unless you pay $35 per cleaning. We were never told this...well, finally upon our third visit to the front desk we were. Beach tags are provided by the hotel...great! except they never told us this and we purchased on the beach. We asked for a credit after learning from other guests that beach tags are provided. The front desk girl deferred me to the manager who wouldn't be in until after our stay ended and shockingly, the manager refunded us without a fight! In the bathroom, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel are supposed to be provided in dispensers on the wall...great! but 2 of the 3 were empty. There is no ice machine on the property but we learned from other patrons that you can ask at the front desk for a bag of ice. It would have been nice if all these little things were explained to us at check in or listed somewhere instead of having to learn by chatting with others halfway through our stay! Parking: 1 spot is provided per room, street parking is available for extra cars and it is easily found and free! Wi fi: provided at hotel whether you're in the room or on the property. I had a lot of problems using my cell phone for internet (with my data plan) while on the beach. On the weekends, I couldn't use my data at all due to all the thousands of other people in the area trying to use their phones as well. On the weekdays, I didn't have any issue. Bar/restaurant: I think it should be noted that there is a bar and grill attached to the hotel (no affiliation) and they have live music daily. All day on weekends and 6-10pm (check https://www.lagunagrillandrumbar.com/entertainment for specifics) on weekdays. After the band ends, a DJ may also play. I just think patrons should know this in case they like to go to bed early, etc. You can most definitely clearly hear the music in the rooms. Overall, I would stay here again...it had the basics and is a great location...but do not come here if you are looking to impress anyone or like to stay in nice places!

There's tons of games and lots of spots for food on the main floor from grab and go to sit down. The staff is friendly and check-in is easy. I very rarely leave negative hotel reviews, and I am generally someone who is pretty easygoing when…read moreit comes to hotels. I've stayed at Marriott properties for approximately 12 years and have accumulated 800+ nights with Marriott, so I have a pretty good understanding of the standards I expect from the brand. Unfortunately, my recent stay at the Borgata was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I've had. We checked in Saturday. That evening, we went to put food in our refrigerator and discovered food belonging to a previous guest still inside the fridge. Gross, but I initially brushed it off as an isolated housekeeping oversight. The next morning, things got significantly worse. The TV in our room wasn't working, and when my friend went to take a shower, she discovered a significant amount of someone else's hair sitting in the shower drain. There was also no soap in the bathroom hand-soap dispenser, so we had to call to have that addressed. At that point, we went to the front desk and spoke with Connor, a manager. We explained everything, and he was apologetic and told us he would put a $100 food & beverage credit on our room and send housekeeping up to properly clean the room. We appreciated the response and went back upstairs. Except housekeeping never came. After waiting, I called the concierge to check on the request, only to be told that there was no housekeeping request in the system. The concierge then put one in and I asked how long it would take because we needed to get ready for dinner. I was actually told that I could take a tissue and remove the hair from the shower drain myself. I'm sorry, but absolutely not. I paid to stay in a hotel room. I should not be cleaning another guest's hair out of the shower drain myself. Eventually, housekeeping did come. However, after the housekeeper left, the hair was STILL in the shower drain. I literally had to follow the housekeeper into the hallway and point out that the hair had not been removed. This is not about expecting perfection. Hotels make mistakes. It is about basic cleanliness and the fact that we repeatedly gave the property opportunities to fix the problem, and somehow the most obvious issue was still not addressed. Then, to make matters worse, I received our folio after checking out and discovered that the $100 food & beverage credit Connor specifically promised us was never applied. So now I'm left wondering what, exactly, was being done to resolve the situation. I have stayed at an enormous number of Marriott properties over the years and have never experienced this combination of poor housekeeping, lack of communication, and failure to follow through on a commitment made by management. Food left in the refrigerator. Hair from a previous guest in the shower drain. Missing soap. Broken TV. Housekeeping request not entered. Being told to clean the hair myself. Hair still left in the drain after housekeeping. And finally, the promised $100 credit not applied. That is an extraordinary number of basic failures for one stay. The Borgata is a major property, and as a Marriott-affiliated hotel, I expected significantly better.

I was here in the off season so wasn't able to go into local beach water or rooftop pool, but had opportunity to visit both. Much of the local shops and restaurants were closed or opened only limited hours during this off season, but could see the potential in season for more. The gym onsite was sufficient enough for my 3 visits during my 5 day/6 night stay. Equipment all functioning, clean and adorned with personal TV monitors. Earphones to be obtained gratis from front desk. Unit was pretty well kept, with only a few minor distressed spots here and there from previous occupant usage. All in all a convenient location for anyone fortunate enough to capture a unit like myself. Was able to get in some gaming, dining, Tanger Outlet and local shopping, historical site visit and some well deserved R&R before the holiday. Lovely experience with very cordial staff from front desk, doorman, shuttle driver and housekeeping staff. Look forward to seeing if I could get a unit during prime season.

The day before we arrived, we called and asked if it would be possible to upgrade rooms. They told us nothing is a guarantee, but that they would certainly make note of it in our reservation. To our surprise, when we arrived, we were upgraded to a Penthouse Suite! Our room was relatively clean, nicely decorated, a wonderful view and included a mini kitchen. We are fully enjoying our stay, here and would definitely come back. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: - resort is directly on the beach - beautiful and quiet NJ shore town, nothing like Wildwood or Seaside - the staff is all incredibly kind and helpful, they really want to make sure you are happy - restaurant in parking lot, lots of shops and restaurants in walking distance - room is comfortable and reasonably clean - nice rooftop view in penthouse suite - indoor pool - washer/dryer available for a smal fee - small game room - activities for children - drink and snack vending machines on site - nicely kept hotel all around - beach tags included Cons: - bed is a bit bouncy/springy - floor could have been swept a bit better in room - restaurant on site uses hotel parking lot for patrons' cars...the valet people park cars awfully close and in awkward places making it difficult to navigate for those trying to leave the hotel parking lot. I found it absurd that a huge truck was parked directly behind my car. I could barely get out and was within inches of hitting this truck. Thankfully I'm a descent driver. The hotel should really look into a better, safer...more sane parking option. - water pressure isn't very good - you have to call the front desk if you'd like ice - no daily room service, I understand this is a resort, but they charge $27 for "tidying up" your room, if you request it

They gave us a "complimentary upgrade" to the Ocean Tower even though we had booked 2 months ago for the Rendezvous Tower. We were not impressed with the "upgrade". It was like they divided 2 rooms to make one. The TV is too far from the bed to really watch it, the sofa was dirty and stained. The bathrooms were much smaller with 24" vanity in bathrooms with no place to place your toiletries. The shower was nice ...and extremely slippery. Yes they did supply a rubber mat that was probably 18" long at best. So proper placement before water hits the slippery floor was imperative. The sink faucets cold water was always warm and the shower water was at best lukewarm. We did go and complain about this and they offered us a "comped" meal at the VIP.
