I use to be a fan of Cemeno's. They have great pizza even though it is expensive like most things on their menu (don't order deserts...even though they are tasty they are so expensive and you get very little). We typically order and have our food delivered. Now, typically everything is packaged so well. My mom has been on a soup kick and this last time she only ordered probably a cup/bowl and it came in a Styrofoam container. Don't know why they are still using these but the soup was so hot that a hole was in the side of the container and leaked out. We decided to order some food today and told them about it and they really didn't want to give a credit...needless to say we got a $3 credit which doesn't even cover the cost of a soup. Needless to say, we have decided not to order anymore...a company that can't stand behind their service doesn't deserve our orders. read more

Nice place to grab some pizza or Italian food. Pizza here used to be a little better, when the crust was a little crispier on one of my last visits. Service is friendly and prompt. There are multiple sections to this location to accommodate different types of larger groups, a bar area and an outdoor section. It can be a little noisier, but still nothing too crazy. read more

We celebrated my grandmothers 100th birthday which was awsome. Family from all over came from Georgia, Pennsylvania, Florida and all from around this area. But what I didn't like is what I saw. Take a look at these pics one of these fans were sitting as you entered the restaurant blowing towards the kitchen and the other was on the pickup counter for people picking up their pizzas pointed at the kitchen. If they can't even clean their fans can you imagine what their kitchen looks like and the dust and garbage you are getting on your pizza. I'd like to hear your comment on the pictures. read more

I have always known that Cemeno's pizza was not as good as Aurelio's pizza, which I have always thought was strange because Joe Cemeno and the Cemeno family were longtime owners of Aurelio's. I foolishly chose the pizza tonight at Cemeno's instead of getting a sandwich. I will NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!!! Cemeno's pizza is just plain horrible! This review is strictly for take out. I'm a Chicago city boy pizza snob visiting my family in Joliet. I grew up here and admittedly was spoiled by Aurelio's and Gomers Garage back in the day. But since then I've had some amazing Chicago and Detroit pizzas and wasn't expecting much from a Joliet joint. We had two thin crust veggie pies and I was very impressed. The crust in fantastic and burnt around the edges. The sauce had a nice tang and the veggies were plentiful. The cheese was perfect. The pies were slightly oily but not to an extreme. I used to like this place for pizza and total refuse to deliver a pizza to my condo complex because somebody had a bad experience they said. I had enjoyed their pizzas several times; that is up until June 11, 2011. I had ordered a large, thin half sausage, half pepperoni delivered. It came almost burnt, and the sausage and pepperoni was all over the pizza. It was not edible at all. I tried getting my money put back on my card, but it wasn't happening. I called and talked to managers, who gave me a runaround. The one last night said if wasn't there today, they could give me cash. But they only gave me amount for the pizza - not the tax. Stepped out of box ordered a medium Taco Pizza... do not .. never.. never..., it was a crisp pizza crust with at least 3 cups shredded lettuce... a Minimum of 1/4 cup melted cheese the sauce tasted and resembled hot dog sauce... peppers were soggy water logged.. diced tomatoes were tastse less.., Did we say anthing to waitress NO did not want to make a scene... our friends food was great.... If I could give this place a ZERO star rating, I would. My daughter and her friend dined in tonight and were treated in a manner they felt was extremely racist. They had to wait for over an hour for a small pizza, while the people who worked there kept looking at them and making them feel uncomfortable. I used to eat here a lot back in high school, inhaling Cemenos' ranch fries and pizza. 10 years later, I came here recently for a reception in one of the banquet rooms, and the thin-crust pizza was still as tasty as I remembered. There were other "Italian" options (aka mediocre mostaccioli), but one bite was all I could do. I would advise patrons to stick with the pizza. I do not recommend for parties or banquets, it's been nothing but a headache Tried to book Cemenos Pizza for my daughter's second birthday. Originally, I wanted a banquet room like we had when we celebrated our youngest's baptism (which was an AMAZING experience). I was told that because we only had 25 people (they have a 30 person minimum) and wanted to order outside of their "party package" I wouldn't be able to book a room. However, I could reserve a spot in the dining room. Okay, fine, that's annoying but we'vealways had good food and service so fine. They requested I place my order at least 24H prior to the event. So, I just called today and start placing the order- almost the EXACT same that we ordered in AUGUST. Only to be told that they couldn't accommodate me ordering pasta in bulk from the catering menu because "when people order food here, we factor in the prices of the staff, and keeping the lights on. It's different prices if it's catering you're taking to your home. You can order a couple platters to share." ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW? I have an order for 5 Pizzas, drinks, and obviously will tip but they can't accommodate a pan of pasta with sausage because they won't make enough money off my $300+ order?!?! I'm appalled. The manager checked with the owner who suddenly "had already left" when I asked to speak directly with them. I'm so aggravated and disappointed. We've always had great experiences which is why we keep going back for celebrations. Now I'm scrambling to figure out party details for literally tomorrow.
