ordered Cemenos Pizza for years..live down the street. now they don't deliver to apartments anymore.THEY SUCK

Love this pizza! Truly is worth the price. But I will say terrible service. Our waitress Mallory was running around like a crazy person with just two other tables...wow. The service industry is not for her. The booth behind us agreed...our drinks were left empty. Our salad came out two minutes before the pizza. And we had to have someone else bring our bill. Everything was great and the pizza is definitely the main reason we came but I also loved the salad here. Growing up in Chicago it has been hard to find restaurants with great pizza but I definitely recommend this pizza it's amazing, we went last night and I warmed up our leftovers and still good. We usually go to Rosattis which is also good my only complaint it isn't as good the next day, definitely recommend Cemeno's and the service was excellent! read more

I ordered from this place for delivery. When it finally arrived, I paid with my debit card. The next day as I was checking my account online, I saw that they had charged me twice. Okay...that happens sometimes...so I called and spoke to someone named Lou. He even admitted that "this happens sometimes" and assured me it would be taken care of and that they would credit my card. By Monday, it still wasn't credited. I thought "Well, it WAS a weekend" but I called them anyway to let them know. I spoke to the same guy who had originally taken my order. He remembered it and said he "guaranteed" that it would show up on my account on Wednesday. Wednesday came and went and still no credit. I called again and asked for Lou and was told he was busy with another customer and to call back, which I did. He acted shady and said he couldn't imagine why it wasn't credited but he would look into it and call me back. No call back. I called on Thursday and was told to leave my number and he would call back. No call back. I called again later on and finally spoke to him and he said he had called their credit card processor and the second charge shows up as being canceled. I told him it was real nice that their books were straight but I was still out my money. He said he would look into it and call me back. Friday comes...a week after the card was charged twice. No call back. So I call again. He said that he was just going to issue me a credit on my card and that should take care of it. Finally this morning...Saturday...there is a credit on my account. I don't know why he didn't do this in the first place and consider it done. After thinking about it, it seemed like the charge was kind of high in the first place and after checking their online menu, THEY OVERCHARGED ME!! AND...he never offered me a free pizza or anything for all my time and trouble trying to get this straightened out! At this point, I'm just going to consider this a lesson with Cemeno's. If you go there, (and you probably shouldn't....it's dirty) be careful when using a card. Go to Aurelio's instead. Same pizza only better. read more

Just terrible. Had the chicken bruschetta pasta. It was as if they poured vinegar on it, after letting it marinade in vinegar. There was no flavor, whatsoever, as it was overpowered by vinegar. This was the 2nd time I have been here - and both times were a huge disappointment. It's sad that Joliet is being subjected to this crap. Not to mention the decor inside is from the 70's. Come on people - replace that carpet. Never will go back! read more

I booked a party at Cemenos for my daughter's birthday. The pizza and salads were good and the service was ok. The party room looks nice too. My biggest concern was the lady taking the reservations. She was hard to get a hold of and I had to call back numerous times during the week to finally reach her. I feel like she was blowing me off and she was kind of rude when I finally talked to her. I am disappointed because I have come to this restaurant for YEARS and it has never been this difficult for me to make a reservation [a month and a half in advance]. I almost went elsewhere but my family loves the food! Not impressed with how expensive the cakes are. read more

I am extremely disappointed with this place. I went to place an order online but couldn't complete it. I had a gift card and they didn't have that option as payment as payment. So I called in my order. the price I was quoted was $10 more. they wouldn't honor the online price because they are in the processes of changing the prices online. read more

Excellent thin crust pizza and antipasto salad. We usually eat in the bar because we like the atmosphere and it seems a little more homey than the main dining area. I love the house dressing. Delivery service is also good. Recommend ordering well done for delivery to keep the crust nice and crisp. read more

I have been going to cemeno's since they were making pizza under the aurelio's name in the marycrest shopping center (more than 30 years). It had (past tense) always been the best thin crust pizza anywhere. Even when I moved from Joliet, I would make the long drive for their pizza. I recently moved back to Joliet and have had 3 bad pizzas experiences in a row. (Because of my love for them, I gave them two more chances and they failed miserably.) I don't know if they are cutting back on ingredients to save money, but you wouldn't know that by the prices they charge. All three occasions the pizza dough was rolled so thin it was barely thicker than a sheet of paper. After cooking, the crust was crunchy...yes, crunchy not crispy. The first two visits of the three, I had them cook the pizza and the third I bought unbaked and cooked it at home. The one I baked, i underbaked by 5 minutes and the crust was still rock hard even though the toppings were not fully cooked. The cheese on these pizzas was so thin that you could see the sauce through it. They were also very stingy on the sauce and toppings. I could understand this happening once, but not three times. Cemeno's - if you are cutting back, you need to stop...it is affecting the quality of your pizza...at a time when you have more competitors in town than ever - Giordanos, Lou Malnatis, Aurelio's. I recently ordered from Aurelio's and it was 10X better. Step up your game, Cemeno's! read more

My family has allergies. My husband called ahead to ask if there was soy in the pizza. He was assured there was not. He asked again when he arrived. The wait staff wrote it down, went to the back and presumably asked the chef. He came back out and assured my husband that there was no soy in the crust. My husband ordered a small cheese pizza for my allergic kids. My son took one bite and became ill. They (obviously) stopped eating. In communicating with the restaurant after the issue, Lou (the GM) told me that while there is no soy IN the crust, they do grease the pizza pans with soy oil to prevent it from sticking. Seems to me that counts as having soy in the crust if you are allergic!! He said we need to be more specific in asking questions of the wait staff. Really? Seems to me they need some allergy training making sure their wait staff and chefs realize that greasing a pan with soybean oil is the same as having soy in the ingredient list!! read more
