Usually I am more critical of restaurants than the Yelp average but this time I think this place deserves a better review than the average. I ate dinner there on a Tuesday with 3 others. All of us liked our food. We were impressed with all our appetizers and main dishes. The ingredients are fresh, well cooked and skillfully combined. The atmosphere is quieter than most restaurants. They deliberately play more relaxing music than that played at most restaurants. That's something I appreciate, though my girlfriend prefers a noisier place. I liked the atmosphere. There are slivers of tree trunks on the ceiling. The service was good. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant for those seeking quality Italian food. read more

I really wanted to love dinner here, but unfortunately it missed the mark for me. I started with the gnocchi, which had a somewhat spongy texture and was lacking in flavor. I followed that with the ribeye, and while it was okay, it was tougher than I expected. The accompanying vegetables also didn't feel up to the level I would expect at this price point--they reminded me more of frozen vegetables that had been quickly seared. Even the bread seemed fairly ordinary. The chocolate mousse-style dessert was enjoyable, although probably not something I'd specifically come back for. On the positive side, my better half absolutely loved her pasta, so her experience was definitely better than mine! Ultimately, considering the price of the meal, I expected a noticeably higher level of quality and execution. I'd have a hard time spending that much for dinner here again. We went in the summer and chose to sit outside. There was live music and the views were fantastic. My only small complaint was that the seating was uncomfy with hard wooden chairs that were not cushioned in any way. Sit indoors if you need softer seats. Our waitress, Helen, was delightful and attentive. She gave great suggestions and were not disappointed. We had the Barada appetizer, the gnocchi appetizer and then opted for the venison and the ribeye for our entrees. All were fantastic. We rounded out the meal with the tiramisu Affogato and the lemon cake with ice cream. The tiramisu dessert was next level good. That one I highly recommend! I usually write off hotel restaurants. Often they rely on a captive audience to take shortcuts. That was not my experience with Cena. The food was thoughtfully prepared, and well portioned. At our server's invitation, my daughter and I shared the lobster pasta while my husband had the branzino. Even though we split, we almost didn't finish the pasta. The half portion had so much lobster! It might have been too salty for someone who likes more subdued flavors, but I found it perfect. Likewise, my husband struggled the finish the generous portion of branzino. It was well cooked and the roasted fennel was a lovely compliment. We were too full for dessert and left it at that. We ate in the bar area to watch World Cup, which was very casual. There is also a more formal dining room and an outdoor space depending on why you're dining. read more

The patio setting is great, but the overall dining experience fell short. Despite arriving on time for our reservation, we waited 15 minutes to be seated and then walked out to empty tables everywhere. The food didn't make up for the delay, either. We started with the fig and strawberry salad, which was fine, but the entrees were a major letdown. My lasagna was so heavily salted I couldn't eat more than a couple of bites, and my wife--who usually loves Cacio e Pepe--left almost all of hers untouched for the same reason. Ironically, the best thing on the table was the leftover crust from our son's kids' menu pepperoni pizza. Sadly, our plates sat on the table for long after we stopped eating the food. read more

Service was excellent, friendly, and pretty fast. Validated parking in the Chateaux's inside garage (otherwise $50) is offered. Nice, open interior. The Caesar salad was a good size, had actual anchovies on it (hurray), and the lettuce was crisp. However. Two servings of the Roasted Duck & Cheese Agnolotti were both mediocre at best--duck was tough, dry, and stringy. The Capellini and mushrooms were..swimming in oil. Dining here last night with three dear friends was a truly special experience. From the moment we checked in at the hostess stand and had our coats taken, everything felt thoughtful and welcoming. We ordered takeout from this place and were told it would take 40 minutes. It ended up taking over two hours to receive our order. Every time we asked for an update, the estimated time kept getting pushed back. We were told that "seated guests take priority," which was given as the reason for the delay. Great service. The large windows create a great ambiance and back drop for dinner. If you love cheese this is the place for you. The peach Panzanella was good. And refreshing. I highly recommend getting dressing on the side. Pizza was great and the pesto really elevated the dish. However, was a little too oily. The daily risotto was delicious and we've never been disappointed by them. A unique spin on carbonara something we've never tried in a risotto. I wish the butter on the broccolini wasn't cold but the dish itself was good. The corn gnocchi was my favorite appetizer we've tried here in a long time but I do wish they added more corn. The sauce was delicious and accompanied the appetizer well. The steak was pretty standard. The chicken Parmesan was the star of the show. Over the last 8 years it has ALWAYS been incredible. The staff were excellent this time. We have noticed that earlier in the summer the service typically isn't as good. The desserts are always delicious. The sorbet was refreshing and my favorite dessert tiramisu is always perfection here. The tiramisu here is the best in Utah. I'm thankful for the consistency for the tiramisu! I don't know if the place is usually like this or if it was just our experience. But the customer service was horrible. We got seated and not only did the food take over 40 min (which i get but it wasn't that busy) and our server was very rude and checked on us once our whole meal. Plenty of times she walked by our table saw our water was empty saw us looking around for a waiter and did not check on us once. For the amount of money the menu is, I would hope the customer service is just as good. read more

Was expecting a decent dinner. Started with appetizers which were good. However, main dishes seemed like it was done by an amateur. My wife ordered the Sea bass rissoto which was terrible. Fish was very dry, tasteless and risotto very salty. I ordered the New York strip. It was not a New York strip. It was some other cheap cut. It was stringy, chewy, warm not hot and it looked boiled. This is the first time in my life that I returned a dish. I never make a big deal an not picky and eat everything. The server brought me another dish. A bolognese pasta dish. It was store bought pasta and ground beef was not good and super salty. There is no way a chef would allow those dishes to be served. It was very expensive for horrible main dishes. read more

Overall very nice place but it gets packed fast. The food was good but the fires were way over done and kind of warm. I would come back here but it's pricey. Not a very big menu but there's plenty to choose from. The bartenders were nice and fast but the food was a little slow to come out. The atmosphere was good for a bit as there was live music. The lobster linguini was amazing. In my opinion, this is one of the superior Italian restaurants in Park City.

It's always interesting to go to hotel restaurants that don't have celebrity/prestige chefs. Solid restaurants that need to serve their guests and attract visitors. I went with the standard to see how good the Italian is by getting the Bolognese. It was excellent. We started by splitting a cesar salad. They kindly supplied an couple extra anchovies when asked. The space is nice. The service was excellent. The food was excellent. It's not crazy expensive. I was eating here Saturday night in early summer. As I drove past the regular haunts, they were packed. Here, there was a decent number of diners, but certainly relaxed and not over crowded. That's a huge win. The servings are large for me. We ended up with enough for a second meal from the leftovers. read more

Cena was very conveniently located near the Deer Valley condo where we stayed for Sundance. On our first night we were looking for a quick dinner and Cena offered a casual environment that didn't remind us of a hotel restaurant. We started with the sweet potato and corn chowder and we split the chopped salad. Both were really good and flavorful. The chowder was very creamy and full of corn. Our salad was fresh and topped with finely sliced sopressa salami and grated parmesan cheese. For our entrees, we ordered two pizzettas - creminelli pepperoni and the italian sausage special. They reminded me of flatbread pizzas with thin crispy crust and they were larger than we anticipated. After a good experience at Cena on our first night in Park City, we returned later during our trip one evening for dessert. I got a housemade toasted marshmallow soda to go along with a warm apple bundt cake with marscarpone ice cream. It was a great few bites to satisfy my dessert craving. We enjoyed the food and dessert at Cena. We sat in both the more formal dining room and in the lounge. Service was good. This was a nice find very close to where we were staying. The Chateaux at Deer Valley guests should check this place out. read more

I don't usually eat at restaurants with less than a 4 star rating but Yelp (3.5 currently) got it wrong this time! Went here with family and hadn't checked the rating beforehand like I usually do and was shocked when I went to add it to my SLC/PC area list of good restaurantes to find it had such a low rating. Every single item ordered was fantastic, and all of my very specific AIP dietary requests were accommodated perfectly. Started with Chopped salad (minus fried chick peas and cheese) and instead of the oregano vinaigrette (has red pepper flakes) substitued for the roasted pear vinaigrette which was just the right amount of sweet and creamy (while being non-dairy). By the time I remove all of the non-AIP ingredients I often end up with a mediocre salad, but this one was great. The fennel is sliced so thin it gives just the perfect hint of flavor. My entree was a perfectly cooked medium rare New York, which was realllly tender and flavorful with the demi-glace adjusted by the kitchen to be nondairy, and with it the glazed heirloom carrots which are fantastic and grilled brocollini. My companion ordered the sea bass and next time I am here I will defintely be ordering the sea bass! It is SO light and moist and perfectly cooked it just melts in your mouth. For dessert the blackberry sage balsalmic sorbet was a wonderful combination of flavors and again not too sweet. Bar is right off the lobby and obvisouly a little more lively and loud, but the main seating area has a very nice ambiance and lovely views of Deer Valley from the large windows. Best views (180 degrees) are in the alcove and while it is right next to the kitchen I didn't really notice any "kitchen noise." Service was exceptional - everyone from the hostess Denecia (hope I spelled that right), manager Justice, server Luca, and bus girl (sorry I didn't catch her name) were friendly, attentive and went out of their way to make it a great experience. Where do I begin? Oh maybe with the fact that our attempt to begin our dining experience was fraught with challenges. St. Regis concierge recommended this place and booked our reservation. We showed up 15 mins early and were told there would be a delay. 35 mins after our Res and 50 mins after arriving I asked if we could put in the order in advance, since we had been reading the menu for 50 mins. 20 mins later the front desk guy tells me he never put in the order "due to miscommunication." We were then finally seated and I flagged the manager to let her know of the delays. She was very nice and even got us blankets since it was freezing inside, but it also took us another 15 mins to just get bread and water, after I had to ask 3 times. The Open Table and Yelp reviews describe the ambience as "romantic, upscale" and other nice things. It felt more like Olive Garden. Very Cafe-like and not romantic or upscale at all. Prices are upscale but that is it. Not the service, not the interior. So how was the food? Lamb shank and parm polenta was tasty and warm (good since I was still freezing). My wife enjoyed the Chicken Parm. The food was really quite good. The manager came back to clarify that it truly isn't representative of their service and would hope to earn our business back. So I upgraded to 3-star based on her rescue and the good food. But given it was meant to be an anniversary dinner it didn't quite meet expectations. I was a little skeptical because of the overall rating on Yelp, but Cena was close by and could take our large party, which was a plus. The service was excellent (I was also a little worried about that because so many restaurants are understaffed these days) and the food was really good!! I got the seared scallops and thoroughly enjoyed them. The potatoes and saffron cream sauce were so yummy. I tried my sister's salad that had arugula, frisee and crispy duck and it was very delicious as well. Everything was fantastic. Side note - we stayed at the Deer Valley Chateaux (where Cena is located). The entire experience was exceptional. Extremely friendly staff and very nice accommodations. An extensive complimentary breakfast buffet included (in Cena). Sebastian, the host, was there for all of our meals and knew our room number after 2 days Thr resort offers complimentary on-demand shuttle service to both Deer Valley and Park City slopes as well to other locations around Park City. Two stars only because the service staff was excellent. The food quality is definitely 1 star which brings the review way down. To start we ordered the house made mozzarella cheese appetizer. It contained three rolls of mozzarella that appeared to be pulled from a Polly-O package. In fact, Polly-O cheese would have tasted better. The cheese we were served was dry and tasteless. There was one piece of burnt salami leaning on the side of the cheese rolls. I ordered the Veal Bolognese dish. It was extremely subpar. The meat sauce tasted one week old: oily with no freshness. There were three small pieces of paper thin, over cooked bacon in the dish. It looked like the cheap bacon you get served at a motel free continental breakfast. I left half the dish untouched. Like I said though, the wait staff was fantastic. It's simply a shame they have to serve that food from the kitchen. read more

Yeesh. A not so stellar lunch visit to Cena Ristorante on account of weak menu execution. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? The Chateau at Deer Valley is gorgeous venue so it's hard to fault the atmosphere at Cena Ristorante, and I'll point out that while a bit green, the service was very nice although a bit sluggish. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Typical resort-ish prices at Cena Ristorante, and my Chicken Sandwich was somewhere in the ballpark of $13.00 or so. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? This was a pretty weak sandwich. The cut of chicken itself was plain and tasteless, and while a buttered bun tried to make up for it, even that was sidetracked by mediocre peripherals and way too much melted cheese. I hoped that the highly recommended tomato soup would save the day, but that was unappealing given massive chunks of tomato that were in the mix. No Stars. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back?
