Our experience at Old Town Cellars was disappointing, particularly given the premium price we paid for a private tasting. To be clear, we enjoyed the wine itself. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not feel consistent with what we expected from a private, premium tasting. During our visit, the lights went out six separate times. We understand that electrical issues can happen and that not every circumstance is within a business's control. Our concern was less about the outage itself and more about how the experience was handled. We brought the issue to the staff's attention, but no accommodation, adjustment, or other gesture was offered. Being told that "it happens" and that the issue was beyond their control did not leave us feeling that our concerns were being taken seriously. The tasting itself also less curated than we expected. We frequently had to initiate questions about the wines rather than having them proactively introduced and explained. For the price point, we expected a more polished, engaging, and knowledgeable presentation. We spent close to $1,000 for a private room and tasting, so our expectations were understandably high. At that price, the experience should feel special and thoughtfully managed. Instead, we ultimately felt that it would have been considerably more cost-effective to purchase several bottles of wine rather than pay the per-person tasting fee. Regarding the owner's response to our concerns- I appreciate the clarification that an electrician was called and that efforts were made to address the electrical problem. However, that does not change our experience as guests. We should not have been expected to track down the owner or specifically request management in order for our concerns to be acknowledged. When a significant service disruption occurs repeatedly during a premium experience, we believe it is reasonable to expect the staff or management to proactively recognize the inconvenience and make an effort to address it. We also understand that our group may have appeared to be enjoying ourselves and "rolling with" the situation. We did our best to make the evening enjoyable despite the circumstances. That should not be interpreted as meaning that we were satisfied with the experience or that we considered the repeated interruptions acceptable for what we paid. We are sharing this feedback because we believe businesses can learn from negative experiences. Unfortunately, since our concerns were not meaningfully addressed during or after the visit, we felt it was appropriate to share our experience publicly. Absolutely Terrible Experience! This was, without a doubt, the worst experience I have ever had at an establishment. I walked in with 12 girlfriends, and we were immediately greeted by an annoyed waitress/bartender. What was especially strange was that the entire bar was practically empty, with the exception of one couple and a regular who appeared to be intoxicated. After we were seated, the waitress proceeded to throw the menus onto our table and walk away. We all ordered waters along with our drinks, but she forgot to bring the waters. The wine flights we ordered were also extremely disappointing. The wines were simply not good and certainly not what we expected from a wine bar. We also ordered snacks from the menu, including cheese and trail mix. When we asked for the cheese, the waitress seemed perplexed and said she would "see what she could throw together," which was bizarre considering it was an actual item listed on the menu. Then things took an even more disturbing turn. A husky suddenly approached our table. Since we are all dog lovers, we were excited to pet him. Unfortunately, the dog growled and bit one of my friends on the hand. We were all completely shocked and immediately asked to speak with the manager so we could report what had happened. We then learned that the dog belonged to the owner!! The owner's response was absolutely appalling. When we explained that his dog had bitten my friend, his first response was to ask whether the dog had broken the skin, and then he essentially shrugged it off. Rather than showing concern for the person who had just been bitten, taking responsibility, or even demonstrating basic professionalism, he became defensive and rude. We were understandably very concerned and asked whether the dog was current on its rabies vaccination. Instead of addressing a very legitimate safety concern, the owner proceeded to yell at a group of women who were simply trying to make sure our friend was okay. What makes this even more frustrating is that we wish we had read the reviews before going. After the incident, we looked into the reviews and discovered numerous other customers reporting incidents involving the same dog. Had we seen those reviews beforehand, we absolutely would have reconsidered visiting. We ultimately filed a police report and contacted animal control. We were informed that this was reportedly the second incident involving the bar, and that the establishment would be facing a fine. Between the rude service, poor wine, strange attitude toward the food orders, and most importantly the way a customer being bitten by the owner's unleashed dog was handled, this was an experience I would never want to repeat. I strongly recommend reading the reviews before visiting this establishment. We certainly wish we had. read more

OTC has a great vibe - located in the lower-level at 408 Main Street, you might miss this intimate speakeasy-style establishment of you're not ITK. Characterized by a vintner-curated menu of blended wines and cocktails, the dimly lit spot is warm and attractive. The interior is appointed with art work, shiplap and stone work. The communal tables add to the festive decore and allow for making new friends, especially on Christmas (during our visit). The owner, Steve, is a Sommelier by training and has mad skills. His space is welcoming and he's passionate about a great guest experience, often planning unique events like an oyster shucking master class, glass blowing workshops, candlemaking, and, of course, private wine tastings. I would give zero stars if I could. Would not recommend this place to anyone. The owners dog bit my friend inside of the restaurant and he did nothing about it other than argue with a group of women! Okay wow! We were really excited about this place! We came here on a Sunday afternoon right when they opened, and there were several people already here. By the time we left around 4:30/5, most of the tables and the bar was full. You can get a flight of five 2oz pours here for $35, or you can get wine by the half glass, full glass, or bottle. The servers were wonderful! They take your order wherever you're seated. The space is beautiful and it was really cozy inside. They have a wonderful menu with a lot of options for different tastes and preferences, and the atmosphere just can't be beat. Can't wait to come back here! read more

One of the worst experiences I've ever had at a bar. The male owner kicked seven women out simply because only one person in our group ordered an alcoholic drink. When we calmly explained that not everyone wanted to drink, he became increasingly aggressive and told us we had to leave immediately. He was yelling at us while we gathered our things, and as we were politely walking out, he told us to "get back to your country club" and called us "assholes." The comments were completely inappropriate and shockingly unprofessional as a male to 7 younger females. Not to mention he physically touched my back following us up the stairs. The female bartenders witnessed the entire interaction and did nothing to intervene. We were respectful the entire time and did not deserve to be treated this way. I would strongly discourage anyone from supporting a business where customers are spoken to and treated with this level of hostility and disrespect. read more

My group of seven visited for the first time on Friday night. While we were standing at the bar, the bartender offered us seats in a lounge area, which we accepted. As we were ordering drinks, we were told they were out of various spirits such as vermouth and saint germaine, so only one person ordered a drink. After a few minutes, a man who identified himself as the owner approached us in an agitated and confrontational manner because we only ordered one drink and expected to be allowed to sit down. We explained they were out of several regular spirits listed on their cocktail menu, that three members of our group don't drink, and that we would be happy to shift back to the bar area -- but instead, he told us we needed to leave. I had to ask multiple times for a refund since my friend would not be allowed to drink what she had just paid for, and he eventually handed her $20 (not even a full refund). As he walked us out, he pushed my friend and said, "go back to your country club with your fur you a**holes," before slamming the door behind us. There were plenty of open seats at the bar and several empty tables at the time. The situation could have been handled in many more professional and respectful ways, but instead it became an extremely uncomfortable and unwelcoming experience. We visited Old Town Cellars to grab a drink before dinner and it was perfect! We were on a fun girls weekend and this was a great spot. They make their own wine and they have about 10 choices. They also have some bubbles and beer in case wine isn't your jam. The place is small and tucked away and really feels like a cellar. An intimate atmosphere with a small bar and maybe 7-10 tables. It would be a great date night spot, but probably not the best for any parties bigger than 8-10 people. The staff was super helpful and friendly. The wine was delicious and we really enjoy our time there. It's kind of hidden on Main Street, so you have to be looking for it. Three of tried out this great wine and beer bar on Sunday afternoon during our visit to Park City. What a gem and pleasant surprise! They make several varieties of their own wine and carry many other local excellent local wines and beers. There is something on the menu for everyone including a tasting flight of wines that I recommend. They also have a great selection of light bites, cheese , crackers, dips, etc. to purchase also What made our visit so special were Remy and Rebecca, our bartenders, who were experts on the wines and beers and made great suggestions. They were also fun to chat with during our afternoons visit to the bar. Great hidden gem in Park City. I almost passed by this place, but my husband was wanting to go into the store next to their door. Their sign was scooched in and I wasn't sure if it was open. It's a wine bar, so of course I had to try. The decor is very warm and welcoming. It looks like something that you would hide away in. Everyone that was working there was super friendly. The menu had some excellent options for wine and beer. I was a little sad with the food availability, so I wouldn't have this place as a dinner backup. I asked for a Chardonnay upon arrival and the barista recommended the house/ local Elusive Chardonnay - made in house with grapes outsourced from CA / OR / WA. Normally, I shy away from "house/local" wines . I hail from the Midwest - I've been burned far too many times with locally produced (regional grapes or outsourced grapes ie wine behemoth Coopershawk). I mean there's trustworthy few but not something I'd seek on vacation. The house Elusive Chardonnay was perfectly mellow, not oaky or citrusy . Medium/heavyish body. Light enough for sunny patio, heavy enough to match a snowed in fireplace night. Drinks well on its own. Well actually all of the tastings I ended up having certainly can stand on their own - all are true I then decided I would like a long nap later, I went ahead and ordered the red flight. Holy smokes. Being a silver mining town with a rich history OTC has origins mining family descendants. They had live music which was great. Service was okay. This thing that bothered me was charging $4 per drink for soda for a vodka soda. Making their vodka sodas $18. I think that's the most expensive vodka soda on main and it's with bee hive vodka. I understand it's a wine bar. I went with friend who are wine drinks and I have an allergy to most wine additives. There are three wineries in Utah; one in Moab and two in Park City. Through a combination of serendipity and destination planning we have been to all of them, including this tasting room for Old Town Cellars in downtown Park City. The space is rustic-pleasant and the service was top-notch delightful. I wish I could say the same of the wine. But to be polite, it was poor. My husband and I are semi-serious winos...ummm...oenophiles...with decades of practice of tasting, drinking and collecting wine. We are not snobs about wine. We are students of winemakers and their winemaking styles. But this OTC wine isn't made here. That is, vinters are elsewhere and wine, not juice but finished wine, is trucked in and blended by OTC for their bottlings. Or so we were told by tasting room staff. Which is 'no harm no foul' if that's your thing and sometimes can even result in quaffable product. But this is an expensive product by glass and bottle, which has less to do with this business than Utah's arcane laws about wine production and sales that drives the prices up, and it just isn't very good. We support local winemakers by seeking them out to buy their products and drink their wines wherever we go where wine is made. "When in Rome..." as they say. And on an evening when we had some time to spare after early dinner, as a creative procrastination to avoid going back to our condo to pack, this tasting room was destination to come in for an hour and sample the wares. But we wouldn't recommend it as destination unless you have spare time and keen curiousity. And we would not buy their wine aside from the tasting room pours. Great service, though, some of the friendliest in Park City. THIS N THAT: 1) BESIDES VINO: They sell spirits (over an ice cube or straight up) too and one cocktail. 2) PARKING: Is a bear in downtown Park City, but there is an awkward parking garage underneath; take the elevator up to the plaza level. 3) ACCESSIBILITY: Level in the door and throughout the space. All on one floor. Standard height seating options. 4) NEIGHBORS: Marriott Time Share facility shares this same complex. Also Vinto (Italian restaurant) is right across the plaza walkway. read more

A highlight of our Park City visit, with wonderful upscale cellar vibe. Hand-blown artisan cocktail glasses, brick walls, great feeling all around and staff couldn't have been more friendly. Both wine (proprietary and by others) and distilled, including Alpine. Their Outlaw cab was terrific and serveral servers around town mentioned Outlaw was their go-to cab personally. Great conversation and no pressure to be a pro taster. Loved the bottle designs and the wines were delicious. Went by Saturday afternoon for a before dinner cocktail. My DL was lost with my wallet on Thur. My wife and I were both "carded" upon entry. I had an official printed paper "temporary" TX license along with a cell phone picture of my now lost lic. (also, I'm 51). The "dude" who carded us was a COMPLETE jerk. This was the shocker place of our trip in a good way. After our last day of skiing, we were trying to find a place to have a couple of drinks and relax and we found this place on Yelp so we have it a try. At first I wasn't sure because seating is a little limited but we were able to get a couch area for the seven of us and the owner greeted us promptly and took good care is us. He recommended the red blend wine and a few beers for part of our group and they were spot on. The artwork was very catchy and the ambiance was exactly what we were looking for. I was recently in town for an extended weekend and there is no doubt in my mind this was my favorite spot in town, and I'm sure that was clear to the business owners as well. Within the three days I was there I went there every day and took wine home to the hotel every day. They do a wonderful job. Each wine is unique, light, fresh, and absolutely delicious. I wish I lived here and could have it more often. If you're in the area and appreciate wine I whole heartedly recommend you go here. The Rose was my personal favorite.
