I've been in and out of many bike shops in the Seattle and Tacoma area over the past 18 months as I looked to transition to my first high-end bike. In all my shop visits, Dave Yamamoto at Center Cycle was the first sales person to take the time to measure me, use a plumb bob, and make the effort to ensure that the bikes I tested were measured to fit reasonably well. Yay! The effort Dave made to provide a reasonable basic fit, rather than an eyeball guesstimate, really helped me compare and understand the bikes. I did not know that I was going to buy a bike when I walked into Center Cycle, which means that Dave did not know I was going to buy a bike. Still, he still gave 100% in answering all my questions. Dave is a racer and has been involved with bikes all his life. I was impressed that he was able to verbalize his experience to help me. I did not feel that I was "being sold" on a product. It is important to note that I had taken the time before going to Center Cycle to define as clearly as possible in my mind where and how I was planning to ride. Dave had the selection of the various models of Specialized Roubaix I was considering plus he made the decision difficult by letting me try the Epic mountain bikes I like so much. I ended up selecting a previous model year Specialized Roubaix SL3 Pro Ui2 compact that was on closeout. I feel this bike will serve me well as I "munch miles" around the Puget Sound area. Having bought a close-out, I was doubly impressed by Center Cycle when they decided to get the device required to update the year-old firmware in my Di2 electronic shifter. Now I have the advantage of repeat shifting on the rear sprocket and the ability to customize the speed of the shift. Basically, they made the extra effort so my brand-new, yet year-old bike would have the latest firmware. Kudos! It also shows a very customer service orientation as they now have the in-house ability to update other Shimano electronic shifters. All told, I had a very positive experience as Center Cycle worked to find the right bike, made certain is was the best it could possibly be going out the door, and then turned clothier as they helped find the right shoes and clips. Bottom line: In my experience, Center Cycle is a great place to go once you figure out what you want the bike to do, and how you want to ride. They can then target their volume inventory to make your purchase the right one, and possibly more difficult given multiple choices. Now its up to me to make the best use of my purchase. read more

I've been a Center Cycle customer for several years and have bought a couple of bicycles from them as well as various accessories/supplies to keep me going. First off, the place is enormous. Like... really, really big and it's filled with tons of bikes in all price ranges and styles. I've bought several bikes from them including a road bike and a triathlon bike, and they literally have everything from starter bikes to hi end pro-worthy cycling dream bikes. In other words, they have something for you, which is more than likely what you're looking for. In addition to the bikes, they have a huge selection of clothing and food, bike gadgets, computers, and even things like GoPros, which makes it a great one-stop-shop. Second, the staff is very helpful and offers some great services. With my last bike purchase I decided to go all out and do a proper bike fitting to make sure that my new hooptie would fit me like glove, and they spent 3 hours with me to get the fit right. That's awesome. I have had numerous questions or weird parts or needs for my bikes, and they've always been great with working with me, trying things out, and offering to order something if they didn't have what I was looking for. So many local bike teams work with Center Cycle, and that's not surprising - they really do care and are knowledgeable as well. That's really what you want - many of the people who work there are avid cyclists, are on teams, and love everything from the road to downhill. It's also low pressure, which is great. Of course they do repairs, tuning, and all the things you'd expect and they do them well. Last, I always feel welcome and they stand by their work. I had an issue with the taping on my bike and they fixed it right when I brought my bike in. My experience has always been first class there, and everyone I know who goes to Center Cycle has had the same experience. Highly recommended. read more

I have heard about Center Cycle for some time but just never made it down there. I was preparing to ride the STP and the RSVP and was looking for a new bike. I had a few bikes in mind but my mind wasn't made up. When I arrived the store was busy. I was shocked at how many customers were there and how many staff there was working. I didn't think bike shops were that busy! There seemed to be both older guy and younger guys. A couple of the younger guys were helping customers and one of them was playing with his phone. One of the older guys approached me. He was not only very friendly he was very cute! (I thought Lucky me). I think his name was Dave. One of the young guys referred to him as Dave #2.He said he only works a few weekends a month. I think the owner s name was Dave too so I am assuming he must be Dave #1. The selection was huge. Dave #2 (LOL) said they had about 700 bikes. I felt he was very informative and really cared about what I had to say. He inquired deeply into what type of riding I was going to do and what my experience was. I was looking at a very expensive because I liked the colors, however Dave #2 talked me into a bike that was less expensive and said that I was over spending for my experience. I was very pleased with his direction and felt I could trust him at this point. Needless to say I left with a brand new bike that I love!!!! I bought all my accessories there and recommend them to all my friends. I know that there are some people's bad experiences but mine was fantastic as well as each one of my friends and club members. My peeps and I are customers for life. If you need some honest advice and a new bike or accessories then head on down and see the guys at Center Cycle, AND Dave #2. :) I did finish the STP and the RSVP thanks to Center Cycle!!!!! Bought my bike there earlier this year after visiting a handful of other local shops and lot of online research. As with the other shops I visited, I did little perusing, and asked for help from their staff. A very friendly and knowledgeable chap asked some entry questions, understood that I knew about fitment, riding styles, and componentry, and we quickly narrowed my search to two bikes (though they have an enormous selection hanging above your head). I was encouraged to take both for as long of a ride as I liked and my choice was obvious. I was given a final fitment adjustment, added some pedals to my order, and then did some price negotiation, which they were fine with... I actually knocked a couple hundred dollars off. So, don't be shy. If there is wiggle room, they'll work with you! I've now brought my wife's and daughter's bikes in for tune ups, and had excellent service It's nice to have a local bike shop that I can trust and that fully meets my needs. read more

If you wanna find the right bike and not just any bike: Go talk to Peter. The guy knows his stuff and answered every question I asked which is pretty rare for me. I can be a tough customer and most of the time I find that I know more about somebody's product than they do, but this wasn't the case. Peter kicked ass and I would not buy a bike from anybody else. He got me a great price on my new Santa Cruz and set my suspension up himself. It rides spot on and I do not have a single complaint. I really appreciate the rest of their staff as well for using their teammates to answer questions they weren't certain of. A lot of people blow sales for their stores by trying to lie about a product or interpret something they don't understand, but at Center Cycle they understand customer service and understand what it means to work as a team for the good of a customer. This is my favorite bike shop! I have been purchasing bikes and cycling-related gear for the last 15 years from them. They have more bikes than any other shop I have been in. The staff is great; it is a low-pressure environment and that is one of the things I like about it. Because it's a large shop, one can get left alone for a while. If you need help and you are not getting it, just ask, or go up to the counter. When you need help, the people who work there are friendly and are genuinely interested in helping you find what you need. The service shop is also top-notch. Many service shops have young or inexperienced labor that come and go frequently. Center has had the same experienced guys in the shop for years. They are great and have helped me, on a number of occasions, come up with creative solutions. Whenever friends or family need a bike, I always take them to Center. read more

I have been riding the same (outdated) mountain bike for several years and have begun exploring the new bike options that are available. I stopped in at Center Cycle and received outstanding customer service. A service associate by the name of Cole was very patient and extremely knowledgeable about the bikes I was interested in, discussing the advances in mountain bike technology, the details of the components, bike performance and more. I am also a female, and he took the time to discuss the differences in design between the male and female bikes. (My current bike is not gender specific.) He shared his expertise on obtaining the best fit on a bike, and he also specifically adjusted the sag for test rides for me. The store also has a very large selection of bicycles to choose from, along with apparel and other bike gear. I would absolutely recommend Center Cycle. read more

Center Cycle was recommended by my friends when I was looking for a mountain bike. I hadn't had a new bike in a long time and wanted a nice bike, but not one that I was planning on racing or super high end. My 8 yr old daughter was also ready to move up to a bigger bike. Center Cycle had a bike for her, helped fit her and find her the one she wanted and also helped me narrow down. I ended up with a dual suspension mountain bike (great for me now that I'm older) that I love to ride and want to ride more. They also gave me 20% off both bikes for getting 2 with them. Many years ago my wife and I purchased our mountain bikes from Center Cycle when they were in their previous smaller location. We had a tremendously positive experience with the original sale and the follow on visits for accessories. Just recently I returned to upgrade my aging mountain bike with a new replacement. I had not been riding in a number of years so I had not been to their new location. I was amazed at the size and the quantity of bikes and accessories they had in the store. The sales people were very friendly and knowledgeable just as I had experienced before and I left with my new Specialized Rockhopper Comp very satisfied. It was my first time visit there yesterday( i even signed up to leave the review) because i had constant pain from my old paddle. Even though i did not purchase my bike from this store, they were kindly helped me to find right saddle for me, and adjusted them. Since i was there i also got my fit done which I've never got it done when i purchased my bike. I highly recommend to riders to get fit done here, it makes so much difference. Also i think it is the one of the biggest bike shop around this area, they carry huge amount of bikes in store, and many experienced workers here who know what they are doing. Super Pumped with the Bike Fit Session with Peter! I had my Specialized Roubaix pretty close to fit me I thought... Peter was very complete in his analysis of what I was experiencing riding. Taking that input, Peter made adjustments to my cleat positioning, changed stem to shorter, moved my seat back to get me directly over crank to maximize my pedal power and get me comfortable. 2 rides in next 2 days proved Peter is very skilled on Body Geometry and rider fitting! This store is the best! The repair shop has always finished work well before I was expecting it. You can tell the employees just love bikes. They are willing to help with any questions, and make you feel comfortable asking. The store is big and well lit, and laid out in a way that makes sense, and takes advantage of the impressive inventory of bikes! My wife is getting a new bike this summer, it will definitely be here! She bought my Father's Day gift at the store, and was made to feel comfortable and welcome. Highly, highly recommend! read more

I stopped in yesterday for bike service, to look at new bikes and shop for some gear. On all counts Center Cycles was great. At some shops I get the feeling they don't take me seriously since I'm a middle-aged female, but all the folks at Center Cycle understood my obsession with bikes. I want to have my bikes serviced to perfection and to receive good input as to choices in a new ride and gear. All 3 staff members I worked with were really helpful, informative and friendly. I have spent a lot of time in bike shops over the years. This one is a class act. Owner-operated with great knowledgable staff and a an amazing inventory of bikes, components and assessories. This is not the classic bike shop where the sales guys are too good to talk to you. They know their products and love serving thier customer's needs, whether it's a $300 urban trail bike or a $3,000 race machine. You'll be doing yourself an injustice if you don't stop by this shop the next time you need a bike or bike gear. read more

Very knowledgeable staff-- friendly, and easy to talk to as well. I am new to biking, and the sales staff took time to answer all of my questions and guided me through all of the products that I wanted to get. He explained the price vs quality on all products that I asked for so I could get he most for my money. I've been to quite a few bike shops lately, and these guys were the most helpful. Center Cycle is my Go-To Bike store. I've been going to them since 1995, and have enjoyed their friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff ever since. I tell everyone to go there. I've bought 10 bikes from them, from kids bikes to top of the line road bikes. Dave, and his staff, are great to work with when you need advice on bike products, or equipment. I bought a Specialized bike from Center Cycle a little over two years ago and use it for daily commuting. I've had some issues with parts wearing out before their time, but the guys at Center Cycle have always made it right. They've replaced parts free of charge, or at a reduced rate, and taught me how to maintain parts to prevent premature wear. I couldn't be happier with the customer service I've received from Center Cycle and I will certainly be back when the time comes for a new bike. read more

The service from the repair shop has been excellent. I got my last fix in a few hours from when I dropped it off, getting a very convenient notification via email. [Removed my rant about my GPS purchase. I was too hasty and frustrated with Garmin. Center Cycle was correct that working thorough online help with Garmin was the best way to go. It just took a week and several emails before the Garmin help desk got to the solution that worked (a format of the device). ] read more
