The fact we are forced to use them is a complete joke and we are actually going to be moving to a service area that they are not it's so bad. How are you going to have nothing but barely speaking English employees. When we call customer service it's because we have a problem but you clowns want to make it impossible for anyone to get help because you can't understand anyone. CP sucks. They took down their online map so you can't see live outages and approximate ETA to get it back on in your area. That was never accurate, but it provided a bit of insight. Now you are just left in the dark both no electricity, and no communication. I use a provider other than CP, but CP apparently runs the infrastructure in this area. Like the blind leading the blind. Greedy shareholders and execs care more about lining their pockets than making the infrastructure less prone to going down at the slightest gust of wind. Electrical power surges and outage which have ruined a water heater, the central AC, the fridge and two microwaves are frequent. I've only moved here 3.5 yrs ago but it's the worst provider I have ever had. I do thank all the workers who have to repair the barely held together components of the grid, day and night. If you're looking for an energy company, keep searching. This ain't the one. DONT DO IT. I always looks at companies from the common sense of it all. Many adjust to the times. Many, (a common thing it Texas) are refusing to adjust and stay in he past. Today our gas was take down. You'd think with the cold wave they'd be more understanding as it's no joke for us all living in Texas. But we forgot to pay the bill and they just cut it off. I called the customer service and none could assist with coming to turn it back on although it take literally 2 minutes to do so. Aside that, I have to be here to turn it on because when you turn the gas on something happens that they need to check, completely opposite than when you turn off. On top of that, wait for it... they asked if I needed a warning call for the technician when he was on his way. I said where was my call when you were about to take my gas off in this freezing cold? A complete nonsense. Stupid I'd say. Yes we forgot to pay, maybe instead of just mailing bills send an email (which they don't do unless you request it) or a call. We'll be on the lookout for a new company after this and we'll make sure we're handled correctly as they need us more than we need them. Too many of them in this town anyway. Horrible horrible horrible. I have lived at The Grand Palms for almost a year now and the amount of time the power goes out on a perfectly sunny normal weather day is ridiculous. Most of the time (daily) there is about a 5-10 minute power outage and then it comes back on so I held off on reaching out the the company. Today though...I'm unable to go to work, waking up at 8am is enough as it is but to have my power go out as I'm washing and drying work clothes only to be told it will take at least three hours or more to restore is outrageous. This complex/area needs to find a new company to consider working with because Center Point Energy is no good. read more

When calling customer service for any reason, be prepared to wait 30 minutes or more to be connected to an agent.

Communications from Centerpoint are the worst. We have regular outages and it takes them forever to fix. We signed up for status communications and still don't get updates. I called in an outage that occurred to 8000 people at 2:30 am and it took 30 minutes to get an outage notice. It's been 12 hours now and not any follow-up notice. Their Outage Tracker doesn't work and can't talk to anyone at the company. They have horrible infrastructure and customer service. read more

This is completely unacceptable! This company KNEW that Beryl was coming and they knew days in advance! Plus, within the last eight years they could have done something to make improvements to the electrical grid system and infrastructure, yet they did nothing. you could not get a more shit company. they have disconnected their ability to report outages, obviously don't bother calling bc they have disconnected the lines, they cheaped out and only tried to get away with the bare minimum of fixing the 1 million people without power and then send periodic emails telling you "we are working so hard - like so so hard with the few extra people we have hired"...now that it's been 4 days without power they bring in thousands of extra line crews in to deal with the major issues since they got called out on it. Centerpoint is a scam. Make sure when you turn off your energy it is truly turned off. They have me responsible for paying 2 months worth of energy after i called to turn off the service and start the service on another location. Also, have to wait on the phone multiple times for about 70 mins or so to tell me i am responsible for their mistake. Still amazed at incompetence. read more

They send Davey Tree Trimmers out to butcher trees that get close to their power lines with no effort to trim to natural tree growth or to to allow the homeowner any input into how the tree is trimmed. We have spent over a week trying to get gas service turned on at a house we are trying to sell. We do not live there so we have to drive 30 minutes to meet someone. If they get there in 20, they do not wait and we have to reschedule. Their time frame for when they will show up...between 8am and 8pm. Horrible customer service. You call and you are on hold for 30 minutes or more and they eventually transfer you and it disconnects. They tell you the wrong information and we are sick and tired of them. I e been trying to get a meter on my house for a week- have had to live in a motel but they could care less

Horrible horrible customer service!!! I have been a customer with centerpoint for over 2 years and have never missed a payment, somehow (because I am human and a busy full time teacher/mother of 22 month old twins) I missed my October bill. Last night I showed up at home with a disconnect notice on my door. I never received a "pink slip" in the mail. It was 45 degrees out and I went into panic mode- because of my children! I immediately called and was made to feel like a criminal for missing a THIRTY-SIX dollar payment!!! To reconnect, I was told that I needed to pay the $36 in addition to $20 for Them Coming out to turn it off, $60 reconnection fee, and $80 deposit. OUTRAGEOUS! I asked please if any of that could be waived as I was willing to make the entire payment ($36) in full and had never missed a payment. She told me she would email her supervisor to ask about getting the deposit waived- whatever. She came back and told me she could "bill me for the deposit so I didn't have to pay it now for reconnection" well, that is not what I asked for so I asked to speak with the supervisor. I was told, "ma'am that just came from my supervisor" I told her I completely understood but wanted the opportunity to speak with her myself. She puts me back on hold, comes back and lets me know her supervisor said it was ok to waive it this once but if I ever got disconnected again, I would have to pay the deposit, and she was putting it into her notes. She told me to pay the $96 and I could get reconnected. She did not help me get scheduled for reconnection when I specifically asked. After making the payment right after hanging up with her, the store was closed and I couldn't talk to a live agent. Bundled up my babies and we made it through the cold night with no baths or showers and dinner from Lubys. Called first thing at 7Am to get the reconnection done. I am told that the following day is the first available! I said we couldn't go another night with no heat and of course I was told I could pay ANOTHER FEE ($47, more than the bill) to have same day reconnect. Even though, I paid and reported my payment the night before. Oh! And she let me know that the only thing In the notes about the deposit, was to BILL ME FOR IT! The first "solutions specialist" literally lied to me!!!!! So now, I have to bargain paying $47 same day reconnection fee to again not have the deposit billed to me but waived. I asked the "solutions specialist" how I knew that was going to be true, she replied, "cause I am going to put it in my notes" and I told her that was exactly what the other girl did.... She transfers me to the automated payment system, I pay $47 at 7:30 this morning and am told someone will be there between 8-5. I made arrangements to have someone at my home in case they came before I got home from work. 4:15 I still had not received a phone call letting me know the technician was on his way so I call Center point. I am reassured he is coming and if there was an emergency that takes precedence over reconnects. Even though they had a 9 hour window. The order was still open, so he was coming. Called back 45 min later and was told to just be patient and wait for the call. Call at ten til 7 as I knew the office would be closing soon and I wouldn't be able to talk to a live human again til the morning- THAT "solutions specialist" noticed the date for the order was for the next day! The two before her didn't notice?? They could see my payment of course!!! She "fixed" it and reassured me someone would be at my residence this evening to turn it back on. It's 11:01.... I paid to have my gas turned back on today! I paid $143 for a gas bill that was $36, and still have no heat. Also, this was my first time missing a payment. It's sad when a company's Facebook and surveys after customer service calls all seem to want feedback to give the greatest care to their customers- but not one truly cared. read more

This morning my neighborhood was enveloped in natural gas for around a 7 block radius. It turned out that someone hit a line while working on a parking lot. I did what I thought I should. I left the neighborhood and called CenterPoint. Now, keep in mind, I just drove several blocks through a very strong gas smell. As a person who has worked in plumbing, a little gas smell does not bother me. This was strong enough and spread out enough to make even me think things could blow up any minute. When the service rep answered, I explained the urgency of the situation and said, "I don't think we have much time." To which she responded, "I know it's an emergency, but I'm required to ask these questions." I was very apprehensive but complied until around 6 or 7 questions in when she said, "We will be sending emergency personnel to your address. There needs to be someone over the age of 18 to meet the technician. If nobody over the age of 18 is present, your gas will be turned off." Repeatedly I had told her that the gas leak was not at my residence. I responded by saying, "Wait, you're going to turn off my gas and are you seriously asking me to go back? I told you it's something big in the neighborhood and I don't think we have much time!" To which she responded, "Sir, I cannot send emergency personnel until I ask the questions." So I made a decision that she was probably a good person who was badly trained. So, I expedited the situation by saying, "I know you have protocols but they do not apply right now. You need to get someone out there ASAP." Then I hung up and called 911. read more

I cannot tell you how frustrated I am trying to follow up on a center point gas case # that was given to me on 11-24-21. I was told that someone would contact me in 5-7 days -- that never happened ! ! ! ! ! I have called 713-659-2111 20 to 30 times now --- I have been on hold at that number for at least 30 to 45 minutes each of the calls made. When someone finally answers they say that case #'s are handled by a different department --- but they cannot transfer me to that department. They cannot give me a phone number for that department ! ! ! They cannot give me a email address for that department ! ! ! I have emailed the general email form requesting information 3 times now and have not got any reply back ! ! ! THIS IS A HELL OF A WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS --- THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A COMPANY HAS A MONOPOLY AND CUSTOMERS HAVE NO CHOICE AS TO WHO THEY GET THEIR NATURAL GAS FROM. i THINK OUR GOVENOR SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT CUSTOMERS GETTING TREATED THIS WAY !!!! read more

Wish i could give no stars. Ive had a gas leak outside of my house off and on for over a year. Centerpoint's answer was to tighten a connection and leave. Gas leak is back. Centerpoint came to my backyard. Disabled the meter and left. No note no call. I called centerpoint this morning and they had no explanation. Still waiting for a tech on a Friday at 5:32 pm.
