I had been craving Chinese food for the last few months but unfortunately living in silver spring it's really hard to find a tasty fried rice and chicken wing combo. But this location definitely fulfilled my cravings! I got 4 piece chicken wings and fried rice. That rice was to die for, literally did not need soy sauce or anything in addition to it. The rice was perfectly cooked and literally tasted like it was infused with the perfect amount of soy sauce. The chicken was delicious as well, with hot sauce, perfect! I called my order in and it was ready in less than 10 minutes, customer service was good! This is definetly not a sit down restaurant. There is like a little area to sit and wait for your food but otherwise, it's a carry out! We picked up from here. The reviews seem to be promising. However we were not in the usual dishes kind of mood, so my honest opinion is more about the experience, with some food items mentioned. The dumplings: the dumplings were good the sauce was sweet. These are the old style dumplings I'm used to, where they had more of a doughy texture. I like that, not a big fan of these potstickers in style. For me they were perfect. The shrimp and black bean Sauce was good but it was my first time so, Good will have to do. I will say there was plenty of sizable shrimp. And they were perfectly cooked! But I will have to try elsewhere before further commenting. My wife's usual, Hunan chicken was very saucy but the spices were right on. My daughter got the roasted pork Lo Mein. It was her first time with that too, so good. Every time I grocery shop at Aldi, I come out smelling the most delicious food ever, but I could never see the sign with the name. Tonight, on a whim, I googled til I found Central Asia. Our household has a cold, so I ordered a bunch of soups, crispy spicy beef, lo mein, and a combo order. We found a generous pack of crab Rangoon upon unpacking our order. The crab Rangoon was substantial, with a hint of ciitrus in the filling. Better than most places. The soups had this crazy good umami in all of them (hot and sour, egg drop, wonton), and the crispy beef is the best I've had yet! I'm so excited to find a new-to-me go-to for Chinese food. This place is a super legitimate, judging by our first order. I lookk forward to trying more of the extensive menu!! read more

The BEST Chinese I've had since coming to Baltimore. I drive from Canton to Towson for the carryout, and it's still warm when I get home. Check this place out! What makes this place so good? Fresh ingredients, good and tasty seasoning, not greasy or cloying, friendly and prompt service. The food feels like it was made with love, which is pretty remarkable! The prices are a couple dollars more than your usual Chinese joint, but I think it's completely justified, given the quality and taste (and the portions are generous). I agree with the other reviewer, the fried rice is amazing! I really don't think I've had any as good, anywhere, period. It's moist, flavorful, fresh! You can tell they make it to order, and it doesn't come out of some huge vat like at other places. Cafe Zen seems to be a popular place for Chinese, but it doesn't hold a candle to this place -- Cafe Zen food was too greasy and a little strange for me. But Central Asia hits that sweet middle ground between "American" and authentic taste. My favorite is the fresh shrimp egg foo young. I didn't even know what this was till I tried it--it's kind of like a fresh shrimp (yes, you can tell they are fresh) omelette with gravy. But not the greasy salty gravy you get at Thanksgiving for your turkey. This gravy is a perfect complement to the egg foo young, and poured over white rice, it is really a revelation. I actually like how with the General Tso's, they wait till you walk through the door to get your order, then they pour the sauce over, to keep it extra crunchy for you! Anything done Hunan style is good, they're generous with the veggies. The only drawback of this place is the lack of dedicated vegetarian dishes (like eggplant, for example), so probably not the first choice for vegetarians. It will definitely be worth your while to take out from this quiet little carryout in a strip mall in Towson. It's close to the big shopping center on Putty Hill. read more

This food is not good at all and deserves no stars. I got 2 orders of shrimp and broccoli, a shrimp fried rice and 2 orders of general tso shrimp. Disgusting. I couldn't eat anything but the rice. The general tso shrimp were frozen, heavily breaded shrimp that were grey on the inside. The sauce was old and thick and made me gag when I ate a piece of broccoli. Oh and I only got 3 small pieces of broccoli in any of the meals and a bunch of the old shrimp that they're trying get rid off. This was nasty. And after spending $56 I had to post this so no one else would waste their money. read more

Order at your own risk. Tried ordering chicken chow mein. Didn't want vegetables. They got that part right - but I also didn't get any noodles, just some weird gelatinous goop with chicken in it. They were nice enough to provide a fork, but it really didn't work as what they gave me was basically soup. I did get a fortune cookie though! There is a definite change for the worse here in the food. I saw earlier post about the place possibly being sold and I agree. Tried the egg rolls to test the place and they are not the same! No filler but cabbage very little pork, no chicken, one or two shrimp. Yuck. Egg rolls are smaller. Much! And no fortune cookies given. Only positive change is kitchen looks like it was cleaned. The new owners are really trying. The service is good. The food is good and improving. My understanding is that the previous owners have provided some guidance to the new owners hence the improvement. The previous owners had the food down to a science and it was always great! My family has frequented Central Asia for over 40 years. I miss them but after running the business so long they were due a retirement. read more

This has got to be one of the best chinese places i've ever gotten food from, my roommates and i love this place. We always get the same order of steamed dumplings and crabmeat wontons and love it every time i highly recommend those two and i have tried a few other things on the menu and they were all good as well. Pretty good chinese food. The general Tso's had too much meat per unit of breading, but some people like that. Not my thing though. I had some bacon shrimp with a really weird sauce too, but the fried rice was freaking awesome. I went there with someone who is chinese. first- the place is old-- it's like walking into a scene from welcome back kotter. you cant smell food or ingredients cooking- it smells like you are walking into a clothing store- not a good sign for chinese carry out. the portions are huge and and lunch menu is economical. large portions that taste horrible. i regret going here. read more

In town for business and on a suggestion from my friend, stopped in to pick up dinner. Fantastic!!! Had shrimp egg rolls and shrimp toast for appetizer, and Chow Har San (seafood dish).
