The hostess was welcoming and pleasant.. comfortable seating. Food was wonderfully seasoned. Green tea served complimentary. I got the shrimp egg foo yung, my niece the shaken beef and broccoli, from the dinner menu which included an egg roll and soup of your choice, she got wonton, I ordered chicken and rice. No complaints. Plenty of parking in the rear

Wing Wah Tidbits for 2....note the 4 Ribs, 2 wings, 2 shrimp toast, 2 egg rolls and 1 crab Rangoon (Cuz I ate the other one b4 i took pix;-)

Well I'm back in Baltimore unfortunately, however a bright spot is Wing Wah. This is my second time and they dont disappoint. The Wing Wah Tidbit box is delicious Think of a back in the day chinese restaurant with a large menu and everything cooked to perfection. The box (made for 2) contains 2 large shrimp toast, 2 crab wontons, 2 chicken wings, 4 ribs and 2 egg rolls. Think of a pupu platter...or a meal for 2 days..just add soup or large fried rice. So if you have to be stuck in Baltimore try out this Tidbit Box.

Sesame chicken was a disappointment bland

We ordered crab wontons, sesame chicken (requested spicy), chicken and broccoli and 2 orders of chicken and rice soup ( essentially wonton soup with chicken and rice added) The crab wontons were so over cooked we tried to break off the edges of the wonton and enjoy the middle just to be the egg rolls were so dry and bland! Between the 5 guests no one enjoyed there any part of the meal. The chicken that was requested spicy was really sweet and bland the rice was bland and oily.

You can't go wrong with food from Wing Wah. Has been in Pikesville for many years and is worth the trip. Service was good.

We walked in and asked if they were still serving Dim Sum and were told yes and saw the carts with the foods we love going around the restaurant. We were sat in the back by the kitchen. On the table there was a plate and a fork no chopsticks for us but on other tables we saw chopsticks. No cart came towards us. The waitress brought us soup on the house, crunchy noodles and tea with an American Chinese menu. Asked what we wanted and we said we came for Dim Sum (2nd time we said this) she responded it's coming. So we waited patiently. Then she came back with a dim sum menu and a cart. Offered us chicken feet and some pork dumplings and we told her we wanted the Pineapple buns and shrimp dumplings. We also showed her the stuffed crab claws and shrimp balls from the menu. She said the cart was coming around. Then came back and said she put the order in for the crab claws and shrimp balls. We thanked her. Then they came back with the cart and offered us chicken feet and pork buns. Then tried to pass the pork buns off as pineapple buns. This was not the first time we have had dim sum and told her no, and repeated what we wanted including sticky rice. They seemed to be annoyed cause we didn't want the pork buns. Not five minutes later they came back and said sorry no more dim sum. While we were waiting patiently we saw the carts with the food we wanted going to other tables, some of these tables were seated after us. My friend got annoyed because she has been there many times with her son and has always been treated like a valued customer. We were very disappointed because we were looking forward to a delicious lunch of dim sum. But were treated like a step child so we left. Not sure if we will go back or not. We don't mind traveling up to an hour for dim sum, which we have done many times. But we were excited to have a good dim sum place in our own backyard.

Every interaction feels uncomfortable. They repeatedly push for tips and insist on cash payment in a way that comes across as aggressive rather than informative. On top of that, the tone when ordering is consistently rude, no matter who answers the phone. It feels like you're inconveniencing them just by placing an order. Their loud tone, rushing you to hurry and place an order, only to arrive at a restaurant that isn't even busy to be excused for that behavior. Honestly, the place doesn't ever really seem busy, and I can see why. I want to support local businesses, but it's hard to enjoy or recommend a spot where customers are made to feel unwelcome or pressured. With better service and more respectful communication, this could be a solid place--but as it stands, the experience isn't worth it.

After a long day outside, we decided to drive a bit further to Germantown for a Cantonese dinner. A…read morefew of us grew up eating Cantonese food, so we wanted the classics. The servers speak Cantonese, which was a good sign. We ordered food and a couple plates arrived within 5 minutes (!!) which was insanely fast. I think we got all of our dishes within 10 minutes of ordering. I'm not sure how they whipped it up so quickly. CHICKEN & CORN SOUP - 9.95 We got two orders of this since there were six of us, and each person was able to enjoy almost two bowls of the soup. This was more like egg drop soup at an American Chinese restaurant with some bits of corn and chicken. You really can't call this "chicken & corn" soup. There was lots of cornstarch to give a thick texture. Overall, it's not bad but I think most people can make a better chicken & corn soup at home. BARBECUE PLATTER (3 SELECTIONS) - 21.95 +bbq pork +bbq crispy pork +bbq roasted duck The bbq was fine, nothing to write home about. The bbq pork was vibrantly red, but flavor was a bit bland. The bbq crispy pork wasn't very crispy, but it had a good ratio of skin, fat, and meat. The bbq roasted duck was just fatty. SEAFOOD CHOW FUN - 14.95 Instead of the wavy egg noodles, the server recommended the flat rice noodles (hor fun) because she said it was better. There was a good amount of vegetables and seafood. Aesthetically, it looked delicious. It wasn't too oily, which is good, but it was pretty bland and lacked the "wok hay" flavor... Almost like they just lightly sauteed it on a pan. SAUTEED CHINESE BROCCOLI W GARLIC - 13.95 The texture was nice and crunchy, but again, very bland and no "wok hay" flavor. I ate it for health. EGGPLANT WITH GARLIC SAUCE - 11.95 The eggplant was incredibly saucy and flavorful, definitely the best dish we got. It was soft, tender, and creamy which went well with the garlic sauce. Our entire table agreed this was our favorite. KINGDOM PORK CHOP - 15.95 The sauce was a dark red and very thick. We knew without trying that it was going to be too overpowering and sweet. Indeed it was. Out of everything we ordered, this was definitely our least favorite because it was borderline inedible. I had high hopes since someone recommended New Village as one of the best Cantonese restaurants in the area, but it ended up being pretty mediocre. Like another review had mentioned, most dishes felt flat since the flavors lacked the "wok hay" depth we were looking for. The pricing was very good though since we paid less than $21 per person after tax and tip, and we had enough leftovers for at least two more meals.

This is a much needed addition to the Connecticut Ave corridor which lacks authentic Chinese restaurants and especially Dim Sum (brunch small plates). The parking can be daunting since it still is in DC, might have a bit of a walk but that is everywhere in DC. The food was fast and had some unique choices that are not on a standard menu.
