Right after eating it, my stomach started hurting.... I was sick for 4 days!!! On my second day I had to go to the Urgent care for medicine, I ended up getting food poisoning from this sandwich! I normally come here on the weekends. I usually order a sausage & cheddar omelet with a side of white toast. I can only maybe think of 2 times that I actually got a correct order. I came to "Central Avenue" because a few friends recommended it. They said the food is excellent. On of them recommend a few places that turned out great, so this place would definitely be on my list. So on this rainy Saturday, I made my way there. The building outside looked amazing! I love the brick work. Going inside is equally as beautiful. It's definitely a modern looking deli, with a lot going on. I guess that makes sense why the staff didn't talk much. They really worked and that was it. It was definitely busy. I got a Hungry Man on a roll and they made it pretty quickly. Once again there's a ten dollar limit, but it was nice, the guy let me slide just this once. I took my meal and my appetite outside and began to eat. As expected my friend was right. The food was delicious. It's impossible in my opinion to mess up a breakfast sandwich and if you do, your deli won't last long. But the sausage was flavorful and they used plenty of bacon. Even the amount of cheese they used was perfect (did I ever mention I love CHEESE). So I will definitely be going again. There's two more items on the menu I have to try. Being a local living in the area this is my and about everyone else within 15 Miles go to spot for bfast and lunch. They have a variety of different things for lunch. It's a small area which gets packed out real quick. The sign says bagel shop but they specialize in everything else. My go to breakfast is the #10 breakfast box. Its just ok. I would say 2 and half stars. My husband likes the God Father Sandwich. They have small containers of fruits in the fridge, sometimes not fresh enough to sell. Staff comes and goes, some are better than others, as it all depends on who you happen to get. I saw bananas there today, which were super ripe. I asked the young man behind the counter if he could give me a sale on them and I could buy a bunch. (for freezing and smoothies) 8 dollars later I realized even at the so said sale, 75 cents a banana was quite high. I shall make the best of it to enjoy my smoothies and buy them in the supermarket in the future at 49 cents a pound. It is a place we go to on occasion. Yes there are other deli's. read more

I really don't know why I continue to come to this deli other than the fact that I'm a bagel addict. Regardless of the time or day, EVERYTIME I go there I'm waiting a ridiculous amount of time. There could be no one on line and I'll wait a good 15 minutes for an egg white sandwich. The morning potatoes are always overly salted to the point of them being inedible. When I call ahead the order is never ready on time and I have to go collect one or more of my items behind the counter. I get charged for every add on item and the cost is always different. The bagels are delicious but I really am so annoyed with there being an issue every time I'm in there. They also need to fix the parking lot. Huge potholes everywhere. I always wait some time in between visits hoping the next time will be better but unless the owner makes some changes I don't plan on being back too soon. The staff behind the counter taking orders is constantly changing which makes me think something is going on, and they don't seem to be happy. I used to be friendly with some of them and they're all gone to other delis nearby. One young lady at the counter is usually very pleasant and one tall blonde gentleman taking orders gets it but other than that, they need a morale boost! Side note: it's unsanitary that the cooks / helpers go out in the back to throw out trash or for smoke breaks with their aprons on. Please fix that ASAP. read more

After coming here every single day, I will make sure that myself and the 60+ employees that work in my office alone, that work right around the block from this dump, will never give business to this lousy, cheap, dirty deli due to the so called "manager" Pam. Pam is the most rude, inconsiderate human being I have ever encountered. She made one simple mistake on my order that could have been very easily fixed. Rather than handling it like a "manager" who's been there for "10 years", she refused to own up to her mistake and on the contrary YELLED at me and hung up on me when I called back for a new wrap. A fellow employee of mine overheard this conversation and said he went through a very similar situation with Pam. She refuses to listen and will talk over you because she cannot own up to a simple mistake. A child in a grown woman's body. I ordered a meal from this deli this afternoon, and was so disappointed in both the service and the food. I ordered two wraps and an iced coffee, which took one hour and twenty minutes to be delivered. I called back after an hour, at which point I was told the food was out for delivery. When the food arrived, it was clear that it had been sitting around for quite some time - the iced coffee had absolutely no ice and was watered down, the wraps were soggy, the chicken and bacon were cold, the lettuce had completely wilted, and the cheese in the wraps had congealed. I called back to speak to a manager, and the rude girl who had taken the order gave me a hard time about being connected to a manager. When I finally did speak to Pam, the manager, I explained about the problems, and that I wanted a refund for the wraps, which I was unable to eat. She offered to have another one sent over, despite the fact that it was now two hours later, and the food originally was inedible. She explained that the owner refuses to provide any refunds, and that I could have another wrap sent over, or I could get store credit, explaining that this is posted in the store, despite the fact that I had obviously not been in the store, since I ordered food for DELIVERY. I had to request that the owner call me, and was told that he would call me tomorrow, since he isn't in the store today. I don't have high hopes for hearing back from him, and I'm definitely never going here again, or recommending this to anyone. read more

When we called to speak with a manager we were told that they were busy and not available and then were hung up on by rude employee when we asked for her name. I will not be returning nor will any of my friends and family. I prefer to drive 1-hour out of my way than give them my business ever again. Shoprite has better bagels on their worst day anyway... I order food here fairly often, because I work in the area. It's okay. If you're in the area there are definitely better delis, with fresher salads. For breakfast, I have no issues. The staff is quick and whether I'm getting an egg sandwich or a bagel, it completely satisfies me. Lunch is a little overpriced and bland for my taste. The chopped salad, create your own, is very chopped. The pieces are so tiny, I was kind of confused if I was just eating mush. It did not taste crisp and fresh. Other sandwiches and such that I've tried are alright, nothing special. Sometimes, my order even comes out wrong, but I am not traveling back to have it remade, sorry. Management really needs to be more selective in their hiring process. One bad employee can really affect your business. We got charged DOUBLE for our bagels and when my friend complained the teenage girl ringing him up told him to relax... after being charged double the amount. Rather than argue with her he just paid and then called from home asking to speak to a manager. He was told "the manager is busy and not able to speak until tomorrow" and then "the manager isn't here. He said he's a devoted customer, comes in at least once a week and if he doesn't get to speak with someone he won't be coming back. She replied "OK, that's fine" and hung up on him. Great Staff friendly people for the most part. Bagels are always huge, soft, and fresh. I always go for the egg everything bagel and love they put ingredients on both sides. Good choices of cream cheese, and egg sandwiches are awesome. My son loves the lemon muffins but I don't think those are made in house. I have done the catering with them and they're really good with 3' heroes and platters. They always try to do special dishes and sandwiches for the holidays which are pretty good. I get a great friendly yet harsh sense of your average Long Island, NY attitude everytime I come here. The frequent patrons make their orders simple and quick while the out of towners take their time and need to converse back and forth a few times to get what one wants. I usually get a deli sandwich here made from the fantastic meat that is Boar's Head and they deliver a quality organization of bread, cheese, and condiments to surround the fancy meat. This is a relatively new deli and being from the neighborhood, I like to see independent / small business thrive in my town. If only this place was open 24/7, I would come by many times at night. read more
