I was shocked to be charged $15 for a regular grilled chicken sandwich on a roll--nothing fancy, just a basic sandwich. I called to question the price, and they admitted it was a mistake and said no one should be charged that much. Yet when I was in a rush heading to the beach, they still charged me that amount. This kind of pricing is unheard of for such a simple item, and it shows a serious lack of customer care. I have no idea what happened to this place, but sadly, it's not what it used to be. Definitely won't be coming back anytime soon. And it isn't about the price anymore, the entire establishment has become a money hungry place. It's so unfortunate how downhill this place has gone. I don't care if I $20 for a sandwich but the fact that it's grilled chicken on a roll and now they say they charge an extra $1 for a roll is beyond me. I recently visited Gold and Meyers Gourmet Bagels and Deli after a surgical procedure that required me to fast since midnight. Suffice it to say, I was absolutely starving when I got there! The place was bustling with locals and soccer moms chatting away, which filled me with excitement for what I hoped would be a delicious meal. As I made my way to the back, I passed a soup and salad bar that seemed like it hadn't been cleaned or updated in years, but that wasn't my focus. They had a separate order and call-ahead counter, which I thought was a smart move given their proximity to the hospital. This setup could definitely help save time for busy doctors and nurses. However, my experience hit a snag when I was trying to place my order. I noticed some confusion among customers about where to go, and with no clear signage, it wasn't very welcoming. Thankfully, a young gentleman stepped in to assist me. I ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel, with salt, pepper, and ketchup. It took a few attempts to get it right, as he tried to offer me bacon instead at one point, and then suggested a roll instead of a bagel. But eventually, he got my order sorted out. I also wanted to grab half a dozen bagels--two plain, two rainbow and two French toast. As he packed them up, I noticed he reached for what looked like cinnamon raisin bagels. I promptly clarified that I did not want those. After some back-and-forth and being informed that they WERE in fact French Toast Bagels and French toast bagels would come with an extra $1 charge each, I agreed, assuming that I was getting what I ordered. Once I received my sandwich, I couldn't wait to dig in. It was piping hot and tasted great, just as I had requested. However, my excitement quickly faded when I opened the bag of bagels at home. I discovered that instead of the French toast bagels I specifically ordered, I had received cinnamon raisin bagels instead. This mistake could have been forgiven if it hadn't been for the upcharge and the lengthy discussion I had just to get my order right. The staff seemed fluent in English, which raises questions about the mix-up. After reading some reviews, I learned that the place is under new ownership and that both service and quality have slipped, which explained my unfortunate experience. With several other bagel shops nearby that would likely appreciate my business and fulfill my orders accurately, I don't think I'll be returning to Gold and Meyers any time soon. It's a shame because they're just down the road from the hospital and could really cater to a busy clientele. The service has gone from bad to awful. This time because the service is typically bad I ordered ahead. When I got there I saw my order sitting on the counter, perfect I thought. One person in front of me already being helped, I'll be out of here in no time I thought. Took me over 15 min after I got to the counter to get out while my food sat there getting cold. Why? Incompetence coupled with only 2 people allowed to work the cash register. Both of which struggle with simple orders. Owners better make some changes cause all the customers in there were talking about was how slow And incompetent the workers are. The day after I posted the above review this happened... You literally can't make this up. Someone in my office just got back from Gold and Myers for Lunch. First thing they said is wow what a bunch of incompetent fools working there. I really miss that teenager who used to handle the call ahead orders he was the only one with a brain. She gets back to her desk and the order is wrong. Ordered a large soup got a small. Sandwich was wrong. Drinks were wrong but she caught that before leaving and they had to be remade. Service took forever. Ordered a turkey sandwich which came with the standard choice of sides, either potato salad, Mac or as I got, coleslaw and a pickle. No carrot salad though. They had soups - not hot or appetizing looking in 4 vats. no butternut squash choice and I was told, no one ever ask for that. I came here right before it closed and struck lucky!!! There was a WELL DONE everything bagel, brown ordering on black, sitting right in the middle of the basket, calling me. This time I went with butter. This was by far the best bagel I've ever gotten here! Crusty perfection on the outside and soft buttery goodness on the inside. Lately I've been sending my husband to Gold & Meyers to pick up a sandwich for me to bring to my weekly Mah Jongg game. Most of the time I'll get a hot brisket on a roll with gravy & a little ketchup. If they have no brisket (I believe they make their own) I'll get a rare cold roast beef with mayo S&P on a roll (I think the roast beef is Boars Head). Here's the thing 90% of the time the brisket is very good, 10% can be way too salty. The Roast Beef can sometimes be a sloppy mess with way too much mayo, and the Roast Beef sliced very poorly, like too thick, just bad sandwich prep. Maybe if I was eating it at home, I could take it apart, scrap off the globs of mayo, give my dog the grizzly pieces of RB. Like I said, I send my husband, he goes often enough now that they recognize him. Now he's a 'big' guy, and a 'regular' I wonder if it's just a particular person making the really big messy sandwich as a 'good thing'? My husbands style of sandwich for himself is more condiment the better, but that's not how I like it. Yes, I want a robust sandwich with meat, but, when you take a bite who wants globs of mayo squeezing out? Most of the time I can only eat 1/2 of the sandwich and bring the other half home for my dinner. The Kaiser seeded roll is always spot on, the potato salad and pickle, I leave home for my husband to eat, he likes it. We've gotten bagels there also, I'm mainly a bagel boss customer for bagels/lox and their whitefish salad, but their prices are getting outrageous and they make make overcharging mistakes constantly, and truthfully their bagels aren't as great as they used to be, so that's why I do on occasion get bagels at Gold & Meyer's (I never buy lox & whitefish there, I'm picky about that. I might give Town Bagel a try. I'm a long time Plainview resident, we used to have great bagel places and great bakeries, that ship has sailed. Oh well. I was craving a bagel-n-lox all week every since I saw someone one the LIRR enjoying one as if it was their last meal on earth. I was in the area for a meeting for a meeting and also had just come from the verizon store next door getting my sim card replaced. I had worked up a good appetite and the name of the store caught my eye as I was walking back to my car. I was curious so I popped in. There were plenty of tables and tons of options behind the counter. I saw a fresh pile of beautiful pink lox and ordered an everything bagel slightly toasted with scallion cream cheese and everything on it (minus capers, so technically that's not 'everything') and a large black coffee. The bagel was pretty darn good. They must have just come out the oven because even though I had it a bit toasted, the dough was still fluffy and well... doughy, just the way I like my bagels. Sesame, salt, pepper and onion flakes fell beautifully onto the paper with each precarious bite. I was so engulfed in the experience that I didn't even notice that a giant gallop of cream cheese had fallen onto my shirt. As I looked around to see if anyone else noticed, I immediately started to chuckle as I reminded myself of the person I saw the other day on the LIRR. Gold & Myers Gourmet Deli & Bagelry became an instant success and flourished in the neighborhood for many years; One will find the early morning wait lines somewhat long, but their staff is quite efficient in servicing all their patrons. The bagel was one of the best I've had in recent months, the eggs were cooked perfecting and there was a generous amount of turkey on my egg sandwich. They had a salad section where you can customize your chopped salad and a huge menu selection for breakfast and lunch. Unfortunately, the service was awful! There was no organization of the line there. I had no idea where to order or who I should ask for help. It was also reflective of the customers that were also there trying to order. Poor experience at Gold and Meyer in Plainview. I got a coupon for "buy 12 bagels, get 6 free" from Flip N Save that comes in the mail. I went on Saturday morning (10/12/24) to buy bagels from Gold and Meyer. The employee at the store told me that they were not accepting that coupon on that day b/c of a "holiday." The coupon and the advertisement from the Flip N Save did not state that the coupon was not good on certain holidays. There was no sign in the store or the window stating that because it was a holiday, they would not accept coupons. The only limitation on the coupon is that it "cannot be combined with other offers." I find this to be dishonest. The employee at the store was smug and unhelpful. I walked out and took my business elsewhere since I refused to give my money to a place that engages in false advertising. Usually a coupon will have specifications such as it's only good weekdays or weekends, or whatever. I think that if there is no limitation stated on the coupon, then the store should honor it. read more

Went back here on thanksgiving morning, called in the order. Very simple order. Bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel and an egg white turkey wrap with hot sauce. Somehow they managed to mess up once again! Bec came on a roll, no hot sauce on the wrap. Simple, little things add up for paying customers. I was headed to work and hungry. In the corner of my eye I saw a shiny deli, with plenty of parking. I thought to myself "Gold & Meyer's Gourmet Deli" is my next stop. Like I said before, the parking lot was big because they deli is in a shopping center. The outside of the deli promotes hot bagels. It's definitely enough to get a crowd in. I came in for the eggs, but I kept my opinion open to anything. Inside the place was Immaculate. I mean, it was so clean I wanted to take my shoes off to not get the floor dirty. Once I made my way to the counter (very careful not to make a mess) I was greeted by a big staff. They quickly took my order and went to work. It didn't take long, but it was long enough for me to look and admire the large selection of bagels they had. Once my food came I asked one important question, which they replied yes too. "Do you accept Apple Pay?" Know you see why I had such a great experience. But was the food enough to hit a home run? Regarding the egg sandwich itself, the answer is, yes! It was good. But the cheese they used stood out. It was really creamy. I don't know if they make it in the back or what, but it definitely add to a already good breakfast sandwich. In a word: home run Ok, that was 2 words but you get the idea - what I love is that the menu at G&M truly checks all the boxes of what a deli/bagel shop should have to offer. A bevy of bagels, spreads, salads (including the smoked fish ones that you can't find everywhere these days), egg sandwiches etc await you here. Truly something for everyone at breakfast or lunch. For something uniquely tasty check out the Asian chicken salad. Minus one star for being somewhat overpriced. As much as I loved the aforementioned chicken salad, $13 a pound is downright absurd, even for Plainview. Those types of goodies will have to be a once in a while thing unfortunately. Gold & Meyers holds a special place in my heart. First, food is incredible. Bagels are outstanding. White meat chicken salad is just ridiculously good. Don't bother with town bagel. Family bagel? What is that... ;) I've been coming for a couple of years now, and there has been a change in management that has changed some aspects of the store. Unfortunately, I fee like this is the kind of place that should have avoided an update like the plague. Gold & Meyers, to me, is a crusty, old, helplessly Jewish Long Island bagel establishment and should be presented as such with the old-fashioned neon and coffee coolers, etc. It kind of makes me sad that some of that charm has been removed. One thing (person) that can be removed is the lady who literally gets every order I've ever placed with her wrong. I've seen other customers avoid her with a, "I'll wait for the next person." Wow. I discovered this place a month ago (Farmingdale location). I've since ordered egg sandwiches, chicken wraps, soups and salads....their coffee is really good. I'd go there just for the coffee. So far everything I've ordered from here has been absolutely delicious. It's also nice to sit outside and watch small aircraft flying by from nearby Republic airport. Great benefit, instead of eating in the car when your on the run.. The Everything bagel is good. Chewey, good favor and decent sized. Not as crusty as I prefer, and way less toppings too. The cream cheese & lox was excellent. Hefty lox slices like I do at home, cream cheese was cool, but not hard like some placed serve.. Plenty of friendly staff, appears at least 10 people behind counter today. Huge parking lot too, so you can get in & out, no problem. Every time I complain they argue with me. They never understand the customer is always right. Before the new owners took it over I would spend approximately $8000 per year based on my credit card receipts. I have not been there in over a year so congratulations you lost $8000 per year.
