Nice little cigar bar on the main drag in DSTP. I went for the first time in a few years this past Friday, and a few changes have been made to the layout. For one, the "cigar lounge" section of the bar is gone, and has been replaced by a live music venue on the back called Ruby's Elixir. I can see that this was a wise move for the owners because Ruby's was packed and the atmosphere was pretty live. But for me, the Ruby's modification was a downer. When I smoke a cigar, I want to relax and chill, maybe dance to some Salsa or something, but I certainly don't want to rub elbows on the dance floor with drunk, sweaty 40-something year-olds bouncing around to Stevie Wonder cover songs. The two just didn't jive for me. I miss the back section with comfortable lounge chairs and board games. It was more classy. With that being said, the cigar selections were still strong, the humidor's setting were great (set a tad high to 84 degrees, probably because of the constant opening and closing of the doors) and the service was super-friendly (as always). I would definitely stop in the next time I'm way down there, but won't enjoy it as much as I had years ago. read more

The cigars are well kept and the tobacco is moist and wrappers are well-formed. I usually go with a Hemingway by Arturo Fuente, but they have a large selection of popular brands like Rocky Patel, Cohiba, Romeo y Julieta and I believe I saw some Rage. They also have a fine-looking bar with an educated whiskey selection and some outdoor seating. The cigars have a healthy markup, as do the cutters and accessories. The staff there is knowledgeable but not encroaching. I would come here to have a drink and a social burn but I don't recommend it as your primary cigar shop. The cigars are pricey and the lack of street parking makes it an inconvenient place to drop in. Good atmosphere, good quality, good people, a little bit pricey. read more

Best place to get a nice cigar and great drinks and by far the coolest busiest spot downtown 7 nights a week a you can smoke inside and it's connected to rubys elixir and you can bounce between the two. Had the the best old fashions ever and and had a really good cigar that Patrick the cigar person picked out for me and also educated me in the process and even gave me the ends and outs of the downtown night life scene. Probably one of my favorite places to go downtown St Pete for nightlife. It's nice you can grab a cigar and head to the connected bar (Ruby's Elixir) for live music. The only problem I have with it is the unfriendliness and untrustworthiness of the security. Went on a Monday night...went on a Sunday night and it's treated like a club entrance with the dude already whipping out his flashlight to look at your ID. Now this is what you call a cigar bar! Great atmosphere- classic southern look to it but has a comfortable vibe. Great selection of alcohol. Limited selection of cigars. Staff was great from my experience- they were attentive and friendly. Could get a little loud here on weekend nights. The priciest selection of cigars in the area as you would expect since its located in downtown. I wouldn't recommend this place if you are looking to just buy a cigar and get out since there are better prices elsewhere (as a respect to the Central Cigars, I won't mention my recommendations in this review). I do recommend this place if you want to smoke a cigar, have a drink, and socialize/relax. Nevertheless, a great place to smoke and enjoy a cigar bar atmosphere. read more

My friend Jimmy is a regular and my brother Lou has been telling me about this place for a while. On a recent visit through the area I had then chance to visit on a Friday night. Good atmosphere, great people ! From the excellent selection of reasonably priced cigars to the well stocked bar and attentive staff my visit here on a Friday night exceeded all expectations. We sat out front and the staff and other patrons couldn't have been more friendly. For someone who was visiting for the first time I was made to feel like a regular. As a cigar novice Matt provided expert advice on which cigar would be best for me and his guidance was spot on. Kayla behind the bar provided great service and even came out front often to make sure we had everything we wanted or needed. I'm about to move overseas for several years but will definitely be back when I visit family in the area again. read more

Would have loved to have had a cigar and a single malt however that didn't happen. I sat outside waiting for the waitress to come to our table. She seemed to chat and help every other table, even chatted up a table from the neighboring bar. After waiting 15 minutes and trying to get the waitresses attention I went inside to be told there is no waitress service outside but they could send a waitress over. Just had the greatest experience here. My boyfriend is a cigar smoker and I wanted to get him something for valentines day.
