We found this small gem through the Burg Wine Battles. Friday night was a busy night with every seat taken inside and seating available outside. Staff was friendly (only one person at the time we were there), made some nice recommendations. Quick to serve us while managing a full house. They had a nice selection of wines and were more fantastic as we paired them with cheese. A light food offering- we had charcuterie board. Cheeses, almonds, and sliced meats were delicious. The wine and drink selection is well curated and certainly different and more personal than you will find anyplace else in downtown. Loved the intimacy. The bartender was friendly. Ordered the meat and cheese plate, simple and tasty and easy. It was $8 and pretty straight to the point. The wine was tasty and the beer was tasty. I can't remember what we tried, but the vibe is intimate, casual and attentive. I would go back. This place makes me happy. They have been around for 9 years ! I had no clue. This place was the cutest find in downtown St Pete! If you love wine, beer, happy hours, and chinchilla-themed anything, this is your place! Meredith, our lovely purveyor of "great liquids", was awesome and friendly and informative about their offerings. They have a fantastic selection of madeiras, ports, and other wines. They also offer an array of draught beers. Be sure to check-in on the app for your free pour of their Rainwater madeira (if you are new to madeiras, this is a great one to start with). The chinchilla theme is so much fun! They have chinchilla vids playing on the TV, have the cutest shirts and masks and you can even play "chinchilla plinko" with a purchase of a bottle! They do have bottles for purchase to consume on or off premises. The inside is so clean, adorably and fashionably decorated, and there is inside, outside, and bar seating. I can't recommend Bar Chinchilla enough. Parking is tough to come by near the bar itself and so you might need to do a little stroll to get there and trust me when I say it will be worth it. read more

Found a DTSP hidden gem! If you like wine then this is your spot. This cozy wine bar is small but mighty! There is a bar with maybe 5-6 seats, a few 2-person tables and one larger 4-5 seat table as well. The staff is friendly and offers suggestions based upon your preferences if you're open to it. The wine list is quite extensive and they even have a wine membership club. This wine shop only offers small meat and cheese plates for purchase as far as food goes but they also have a little pub mix to snack on as well. Poured glasses weren't stingy and definitely on the "half-full" side. My friends and I would definitely return for wine next time we are in the area. (No flights) read more

Happy hour here is probably the best you can get anywhere in town. The selections of wines and craft beers is impressive. The charcuteries boards are smaller but you can keep adding on anything you like for I think 3 dollars and the meats are fresh and reminded me a lot of mezzarros. The service is really good, and Madeline the bartender/ server. Is amazing and has a lot of knowledge. It's a nice quiet place to be, the ambience is very calming which is what you want when you're enjoying wine. The people I met there were very lively and made it an amazing experience. The establishment is on the smaller size and parking can be a little difficult but overall I think it's one of the better wine bars in town. Plus on some Fridays (maybe every other) they have wine tasting from different regions (Portugal, France, etc) They also have rotating wine selections. read more

This was a night cap that was a pleasant surprise. We were walking to our car and noticed this little spot and figured we would hop right in and order a round if they would let us. The kind lady behind the bar was welcoming so we sat down and ordered. This menu is not for the bud light or cider lovers of the world. This is a legit beer menu with choices with really high Abv options. A more sophisticated beer pallet if you will. Pro tip, make sure you check in on yelp and they will give you a free pour of one of their mederias. That's what I ended up drinking and it was alright. A little too sweet for my liking but I drank it and made it work. It's a small space and I don't think they need much more. They show chinchilla movies the whole time which is pretty cool once you hear the back story on how they got their name. I hope they do well as we would like to come back sometime to say hello! We spotted Bar Chinchilla while walking back to our hotel and loved the name. After changing for dinner we looked them up and saw they had happy hour going on till 7 so decided to walk back and check them out. It's a small bar with seating for around 20 I would say but also have outdoor tables for the nicer weather nights. We were greeted by the two ladies behind the bar who we came to learn were the owners. Happy hour was explained and my wine was an amazing deal at $4.50 for a good sized pour. My husband opted for a craft beer which they also had a good selection of. Service was very personal and friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them about everything from how the bar got it's name, to other bars in the neighborhood. No food served here unless you're doing one of their great wine tasting events, and then a charcuterie box is included in the price.
