Things I learned during this years election: - my son has…read morebecome very interested in politics, and is majorly bummed that he can't vote yet (next year). - 17 year olds can be very insightful and inquisitive when they care about something - my children's political views are similar to mine - my wife's views are not as different than mine as she thinks they are - my parents and I voted differently on the major items this year - this is not usually the case - for the first time in years I was told to calm down during a political discussion. I usually am the calm one. But this year has got everyone rankled about something. --------- Regarding the CC Elections Division --------- Very well run this year folks. Much improved over last time. When the woman in front of me had a problem with submitting her ballot, they quickly tried to resolve it. She had marked two circles on one of the propositions (prop 8 of all the ones she could have messed up on). The machine you insert your ballot into gave her a choice of ignoring that item or redoing the ballot. She clearly wanted to redo it so her vote would count. No problem, they worked to resolve it quickly. Last time I heard lots of complaints. Not a single one this year. And I got a free Starbucks coffee afterward. Not my favorite coffee, but it was free. So go vote people.

This year was my first time applying to be a election clerk and it was a wonderful, albeit exhausting, experience. I was nervous about the process and doing everything correctly but they provide a very thorough training and an even more thorough handbook. They train and coordinate hundreds of clerks throughout the county and make it look easy. They also have a program where young people can work at the polls which I think is awesome and a great way for people who aren't able to vote yet to contribute their time and energy.

I also liked the fact that they offered a lot of chairs and tables for people to sit at, whether they'd want to read books, whip out their laptops to work or do homework. They also have a "teen" or "young adult" section where you would find a great selection of manga/Japanese comic books. The library staff were very nice and helpful. I just created my library card the other day, and the staff was very patient and friendly. I would definitely go back to the library to borrow some books and movies.

It's been updated in regard to technology, but the study tables, etc. remain the same. Online access to the library and peripheral resources is excellent! The computer lab and the classroom at the far end of the library are nice and new and set up to promote a positive learning environment. You can also get a DVC Connect Card at the circulation desk if you don't want to go to the Student Life Office. The students who staff the library are nice and helpful.

This library is strange…read more I have a like/ hate relationship with it. I like the copy machine and the printers, which saved me enough times as a student. The staples are free and all you have to do is load your card up with monies and you can use them any time you need. I hate being brought here for class "field trips" because beyond forced here for them, I never once used this library for any sort of research. Thats what the internet's is for. Duh. I like they wanted to teach us how to use the online site to look up information, because coming through those security doorways always hurt my ears so I never got into falling asleep here like others. I hate that there are no liquids allowed in here. I always had to hide my hot chocolate when making copies. And you ain't really lived until you've spilled hot chocolate in a library. I like that I never have to come here again... no wait... love. I love that I never have to come here again.

These men and women that work in this office are courteous understanding and have a passion for Veterans and helping them out. I am a disabled Vietnam Veteran. I have the pleasure of having Bill Reed as my service officer and he knows my story because we had the same job in the military, which we laugh about often. No need explaining what I was doing to him. This office connects Veterans with solving problems and issues that they're having with their health there benefits anything that has to do with their time in the military and after. This incredible group of men and women are highly trained and highly skilled at solving our problems. I put all my faith and interest in these people, and I would absolutely recommend this office to anyone in the area that's a veteran that needs help.
