I was hoping their tiki bar would still be open but it was a little late in the season I surmise. Their Side Door saloon was also closed with intentions on reopening in the spring but that would've only been icing on the cake. Trisha (who's totally lovely) checked me in, runs the inn and the Blue Pelican restaurant and runs a great crew of people to realize all things hospitable at the BP. The room was beautiful, it was clean, and it was private and perfect. A king size bed, a clean bathroom offering good water pressure and a nice overlook of the main drag. You're nearby the local pizza place (Classic?), the local pub and Mammoth distilling. You're 6 miles from Bellaire and 30 minutes from Boyne City. I'll be back. We loved this place!

The flatbread was tasteless, as was the chorizo cheese dip. My sons had the meatballs and chicken strips, and both were subpar. I eventually had to go to the bar to order my own refill and then go back to the bartender to pay my bill because apparently our server couldn't be bothered with our table. I worked in the restaurant industry for four years in my 20s and almost always tip 20%. This was the first time in my life I left a $0 tip. That's how bad the service was. Not one person apologized or even acknowledged it. The one bright spot was the busser/food runner, who was very nice and actually took the time to ask my kids if they needed ketchup when he brought their food. He provided more service in 30 seconds than our waiter did in an hour. Absolutely terrible experience. We will NEVER be back.

They also have a nice outdoor deck seating area with great views of the water, although there was some construction going on when we visited, so we decided to stay inside. They also have a Northwoods soda machine, which is a lot more fun than plain Coke or Pepsi for a northern Michigan adventure like a trip up to Suttons Bay. The guy behind the counter was perfectly friendly and didn't have an issue with us trying all of the different sodas. This will be a place we make into a destination next time we visit northern Michigan!
