Dr. Sirounian is fantastic! She spent probably 1h30mins with me, which is something very little doctors do nowadays. I've been suffering with dry eyes for almost 20 years. Anyone reading this who has it, knows how bad it can get. There are days when I can barley be outside because it really looks like I've just watched the saddest movie ever. I can have tears (and mascara) streaming down my face. The outer corners of my eyes become so raw from being drenched in tears that it really hurts. And besides the outer looks of it, there are times when it feels like I'm looking through a thin water fall and everything is blurry. I've been through Dr's telling me it's allergies to an overactive sinus. I was diagnosed with dry eyes many years ago but the only solution that was given was plugs in my tear ducts which fell out in a few weeks. I've even had Dr's tell me this can't be dry eyes because my eyes are so watery at times, that how could they be dry (seems to me like someone didn't study this in school if that is their response). But I came here to Central Optometry and Dr Sinourian did an extensive exam on my eyes going over everything with me and what it means. She has a lot of information, many different product recommendations for what may work for you, and things you can do everyday that can help the issue not be so bad. In the end I was given Xiidra. I've been on it for over a month now and haven't had one day where my eyes got bad. I usually have really bad days at least a few times a month, if not more depending on things like the weather. So far, it has been amazing!! The only side effect I've had is a different taste in my mouth that isn't bad and doesn't last long after using the drops so to me, this is well worth it. I really appreciate Dr Sinourian for all her time and effort she puts into her clients. read more

I suffer or used to suffer from dry eyes! I sought out a solution for the problem after going to several ophthalmologists and they would tell me there is nothing I can do about it. A friend told me that her friend in New York had a procedure called Lipiflow done to help her severe dry eyes. So I googled it and found Dr. Sirounian, I left a message for her on her office phone and on a Sunday she called me and we had a 2 hour conversation. She was very helpful. I made my appointment and had the procedure done. There was no pain to the procedure at all. Dr. S. educated me on what my eyes were supposed to be doing for moisture and were failing at. After the procedure and education I left there with a routine for the next month. Long story short, I am very happy that I spent the money and I have found great relief. Yes I still have a small problem, but not nearly what I had been suffering from. I highly recommend Dr. S and I'm sure if you suffer from Dry Eye you will have the same story to share! read more

Dr. Sirounian is a LIFE SAVER! I came to her for a third opinion for my dry eyes. I wasn't satisfied with the previous two opinions as those doctors always seemed to be treating the symptom and not the cause. First eye doctor I went to told me my dry eyes were due to allergies so she prescribed some eye drops which did not improve my condition. I went back to the same doctor and she said "well, it's probably a bacterial infection" so she prescribed me $100 antibiotic eye drops that did NOT work either. My faith in her was dwindling as she seemed to be feeling around in the dark as to what caused my dry eyes! Therefore, I got a second opinion. This doctor confirmed my dry eyes and told me to take eye drops on the hour every hour. I did this and my eyes didn't seem to do any better. However, my eyes seemed to improve significantly when I went into the sauna after a gym work out. In the sauna, I noticed a HUGE improvement in my vision as my dry eyes were causing blurry vision which is terrifying since we're so dependent on our eyes! My blurry vision somehow magically cleared up when I was in the sauna. However, five minutes after exiting the sauna, I was back to my dry eyes and blurry vision. So, when I went back into the doctor (second opinion doctor) I told him about it, and it did give him pause. I could see him mulling it over in his head, but after 20 seconds of internal thought, he dismissed it and said my dry eyes were because my eyes were not producing enough tears. He then tried to put me on these monthly eye drops that were $500 A MONTH that would help my eyes produce more tears so that they would stop being so dry. I really didn't trust his opinion, his pause for thought made me question his conclusion. I visited him twice, and both times he spent five minutes with me before telling me to take eye drops and then pushing me out the door. When doctors treat symptoms instead of the cause, you'll only be left with a temporary solution. I questioned him about the cause, but none of his answers were satisfactory. Okay, so if my eyes aren't producing tears, WHY aren't my eyes producing tears??! NO ANSWER. I'm under the impression that the cause needs to be addressed in order for proper healing to take place. I mean you don't need to take a philosophy class to understand this logic! My dry eyes were so bad that I didn't go in to work one day. Instead I researched dry eyes, the causes and symptoms and came across a condition called MGD, Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). I suspected that this might be the cause for my unbearable dry eyes. After searching yelp reviews for doctors who helped with this I came across Dr. Sirounian. She opened up her office Saturday to see me (she's not open on Saturdays, but I told her assistant about my condition and she made an exception). She's absolutely dedicated to her patients. When I went in that Saturday I told her that I expected that my dry eyes might be due to MGD. Upon looking at me, she thought I could be right. She did a couple of tests and it turns out I did have MGD. She explained that MGD was the cause of my severe dry eyes. She educated me about how the eyes work and how I could take care of them. After concluded that I had MGD, I had the lipiflow treatment. Now, it is super expensive ($1400 and most health insurance doesn't cover it), but can you really put a price on your vision? Dr. Sirounian really took the time with me, I spent two and a half hours with her that day with her explaining everything. If you have severe dry eyes, do not hesitate to make an appointment to see her. Now this lipiflow treatment isn't a miracle worker, it's not an instantaneous healing treatment. It took about two weeks for me to really feel back to my normal self and every case is different. So, for all you dry eye sufferers out there...there is hope and that hope is Dr. Sirounian, as cheesy as that may sound, it's true.
