Do not under any circumstances use this transport company. They held onto our shipment for weeks and customer service did not assist or offer help in retrieving our shipment. They put up as many hurdles as they could, and shifted the blame from department to department. They said it was due to a lost shipping label, that the shipment needed to be scanned in. So keep in mind, if this happens to you, there is an undetermined amount of days/weeks that they have to do it in, and who knows when you'll get your shipment. They won't even allow you to pick it up until it's scanned. Just got it scanned, guess what! They are still saying we can't get our shipment. Good luck to any of you that use this company!!! Central Transport is absolutely the worst transporter I've EVER worked with in my 20+ years of shipping! When you read all the negative reviews, BELIEVE them! Horrible customer service, just horrible. IF I COULD GIVE THEM NEGATIVE 5 STARS I WOULD! I had 3 shipments today, all on Central (Customer chooses the truckline, not me) and supposed to be picked up by 4pm when we close. Called at 2pm, had to hold 35 minutes to speak to customer service, finally was told driver would be here very close to 4pm. At 3:45 I called again, had to hold 25 minutes this time and was told driver was 20 mile out but on his way and would arrive by 4:30. Called back at 4:45 and was told driver was stuck at his last location (how? when I was told he was on his way???) and "unfortunately" (this is the favorite word of the customer service rep, btw) my pickup had been "bumped" to tomorrow. And do they let the customer know their appointment has been "bumped"? NO THEY DO NOT. I was pretty angry and asked for the number for corporate. The rep put me on hold and then cut me off! Very disappointing freight service! Never again. I used Central Transport twice this month and both shipments were delivered heavily damaged . We built a strong wood crate to house a one of a kind irreplaceable headliner for a classic Mercedes Benz and the crate was delivered in broken pieces. Also, at the same time used them to ship a pallet of carbon fiber molds. Custom boxed, and palleted with fragile signs and a do not stack cone on top. That box was completed destroyed. To put it into perspective, if Central Transport were a grocery store: 1. The entry to the parking lot would have those 'severe tire damage' claws, and the arrows would be pointing the wrong way, leading everyone to enter through the spiked side. So off the bat, your tires are fu**ed. 2. They would have a greeter that kicks you in the nuts and tells you to 'move along'. 3. While they would advertise having certain items, they would be out of most everything, always saying they'd be 'getting a shipment on Monday'. 4. If you make it to checkout, the process would be straightforward: a punch to the face and then they'd take your wallet. This is how they pay their employees, after all. 5. You would exit the store (without your items or wallet), only to find you car had been impounded. 6. Because of the hold harmless agreement you signed on the way in, you can't hold them accountable for all that much, and what you can, ends up not being worth your time, unless you are an avid masochist. 7. But you still keep coming back, because they are advertised as the cheapest in town, and your margins are just so strapped that you rely on the faint hope that your next experience will be better. I'd love for this review to make a difference. Look, we just have to accept it- as a small-fry company, shipping a pallet every 2 weeks, you have absolutely no power. Liability coverage renders your shipments too expensive for your clients; heck, the rates by themselves scare off more than a few customers, and even if you do have coverage, getting any recompense is such a bloody nightmare, it's really not worth it. Tally up the hours spent waiting at pick-up or drop-off locations, with no communication, even when you take it upon yourself to remain in contact with dispatch, or filling out forms and more waiting and incompetence. It simply is not worth it. It would be unfair to blame underpaid employees, whose minds are on other concerns. Still, it's just not worth it. Late pickups, and that's if you're lucky. Typically, they drive by, and tell dispatch that they either couldn't find it or that the pick-up was not there. No accountability. This is a corporate structure issue. I'm only writing this stupid review, because I am waiting yet again, on a pick-up that was promised at several points throughout the day and scheduled for the morning. I was in touch with both the consolidator and dispatch throughout the day, just to make sure everything was moving along. You have to, really, with this company. We're all closed up here, and the pallet is outside in the rain. I'm in my truck waiting for 5pm so I can call dispatch to confirm that the pallet will in fact not be picked up yet again today. I have no power but to avidly, with all the energy I can put into a silly review, warn you to stay away from central transport. Avoid it like Ebola. If your time is worth a mere dollar an hour, then warning you to go with any other carrier (and there are mostly bad choices anyway) is worth at least $40 to you (calculated over the time devoted to my last 3 shipments). If you value your time at more than a dollar an hour, then well, it will have saved you up to a week's worth of work income. Pretty good deal. So if you read this stupid thing to its conclusion, the takeaway is pretty clear: use any other carrier. The more expensive, the better, in my experience, if you can convince your customers to pay the extra amount. I only wish they understood how worthwhile it is. I booked a shipment with Central Transport through a logistics broker. The day of the scheduled pickup was a no show. The following day I called twice as the afternoon progressed and was put on hold for 15 minutes, respectively 10 minutes. First I am told that the shipment will still be picked up by 5 pm local time , and after I called again at 5.30 I am told it is now schedule for Tuesday. I went to the Hayward office for employment as well as the Sacramento office two weeks ago and it's the same type of non professional management taken place when it comes to it's employees for hire. The manager didn't even introduce himself as a manager would do if he went to college as the basics.when I spoke with recruiters at the main hub they were extremely rude as well. Terrible company biggest mistake I've made in a long time.i called central transport for a free quote.which was a little more than 200 bucks.they advised me of how to fill out the bol.as far as the weight and size. once they picked it up.. now there saying the weight and size are off by 80lbs.so they added 450bucks to my bill.i argued about it .customer service wouldn't do anything about it but tell me I got to pay or I dont get my plow.so I bite the bullet and figure I'll dispute it later.once I can weight it myself.because google says it's only 40 lbs over what I put on bol. And now they are punishing me by forcing me to wire transfer it to them..I asked if that was just for me or if everybody has to pay that way... So, bottom line, is how slow they moved my skid from MA to IA Shipped on 12/21, normally with the holiday in there that should reach me on the 26th or 27th. Oh no, the eta they put on it 01/02, fine I can live with that. Then they change it to the 3rd, then the 4th......then on the afternoon of the 4th they change it to. Monday the 7th. 18 days from when it was picked up. So I track it to the terminal in Omaha NE, of course there is no local number lited, like the terminal has no phone. I call the nationwide number and get put on hold for longer than my patience will allow. So, I drive an hour to the terminal in Omaha - when I say it is a Sh*thole that does not even describe this old trucking dock, any concrete that used to be there is filled with potholes, 90% of the lot is gravel/mud, the horrible working conditions for the guys working the dock. They were very helpful and apologetic, just stuck in a dead end job with a company that obviously does not give a fuck about their customers or employees. read more

DO NOT USE!!!! This is the shipping company used by Harbor Freight. After repeatedly calling to find out where my very large and expensive package was, I was finally told that the delivery was that day (between 11:30-1:30) and that I was required to be there so "I" could pull a 200lb+ box off of their truck. I left work, raced home, my boyfriend left work, then we sat around for them to arrive. By 4pm, they still hadn't shown up. I called and was told that they weren't going to get around to me....but could I take off tomorrow? NO, I work for a living. So after not receiving another call from them to confirm when they were going to deliver a package that I was paying $100 for shipping for, I called and finally scheduled another delivery date for the day after, to which they said they'd "try" to make. So day 2 of taking off work, they finally arrive...and my package looks like it's been run over. It's not only torn wide open on three sides, there weren't even flaps to close on one of them, they were ripped clean off. The inside boxes fell out as it was being moved off the truck. The entire side of the box had been ripped open, the other side was just as bad. It was being held together by two big zip ties that had ripped through the box. Even the inside boxes were ripped open. The driver had the nerve to tell me that they'd tried to deliver the box three times the day they were supposed to have originally delivered. A flat-out lie. He then told me to write everything that was wrong with the package, and that would be my proof of damage upon receipt. After calling the company after, he'd apparently reported that it was "Delivered without incident". Another flat lie. This company so far has taken NO accountability, and I may just be out $600. We have only ever used them if we do not need shipments to be on time to our customer. They charge $100 for a lift gate but do not actually have a lift gates available. Company basically runs a Ponzi scheme of the shipping world. We had a "Flat Rate" shipping program that advise the cost to ship from FL to AZ was going to be $169.50 plus the fuel surcharge. Then they send us a bill for over $1,200. Go back and forth with them for weeks advising them that they are outside of the agreement pricing that we agreed to, they refuse to move off of their pricing. We didn't actually choose to work with Central Transport. They were chosen as a third party company for a product we purchased so we have zero options here. Writing this review is apparently useless as they don't care either way. Literally the worst customer service we have ever dealt with. My husband spoke to them on the phone after they postponed our shipment for a second time without telling us and we had moved MANY things around to try to accommodate what we thought was the new delivery date. He spoke very calmly with the customer service rep trying to come up with options on how we could get our delivery as quickly as possible now that it was already a week delayed. We even offered to drive and pick it up at their warehouse! Not only did the customer service rep not care to help us...she HUNG UP on us! We were floored. Speachless. So we thought...well we will go on Yelp and write a bad review and they will try to make it up to us...only to find out that they already have 66 reviews and they are ALL 1 start reviews. Be very careful if you are a shipper but the paying party is the consignee. If your consignee checked on "pre-paid" on the BOL, which for us not working in the industry means "I am to take care of the bills, not the shipper", you as a shipper will be in for a lot of trouble. You will see bills coming to you instead of the right party (consignee). When you get tired of calling them that again and again that the shipments should be billed to consignee, who is Central's customer and who has ordered the shipments, they will simply go ahead and collect you. All this is because of a secret that they don't bother to tell you no matter how many calls you have made to correct their mistakes. And that secret is when we all believe checking on "pre-paid" means the ordering party (in my case is the consignee) is going to pay and "please don't charge the shipper, Central's policy means just the opposite: "The shipper pays!" No matter you have requested their service or not! It sounded as if to Central Transport, "pre-paid" means "collect". Or just their staff misinterpreting the term and mis-representing their company? I don't have to time to figure that out, I have a collection letter to deal with. I must contact the consignee (who is my customer by the way) that they must call Central Transport to get the matter resolved, or my company credit will be ruined! Central Transport only believes in their own papers. Too bad neither me, nor my customer, have spent enough time learning about trucking terminologies. It is not their job to tell us what went wrong when a mistake keeps happening. I just got off the phone with their Customer Service Rep who said" We handed this delivery off to our partner in Santa Rosa California and calculate delivery to you tomorrow. " MY business is in Lakeport California and typically freight from Southern California takes 1-2 days. Additionaly, the tracing on their Website First indicated expected delivery on 5/18, then 5/19, then 5/21, and now 5/22. This company is crooked and doesn't deliver your merchandise on-time or in my case ever. Shipment has been in there possession since 7/15/21 and today is 8/31/21... 45 DAYS my shipment has stayed at there location here in Medford, OR. Over 20 plus times I have called and gotten excuse after excuse... lack of drivers, setup 4 times to deliver with no delivery through customer service, no one calls you back from the terminal... even CH ROBINSON can't get ahold of them.. there the ones that hired this sham of a company! No refund, no apologies and no accountability. I would suggest they stop taking shipments until they get caught up. AVOID AT ALL COST They are Liars, who don't care about you or your business. We had them ship a pallet about 30 miles in SoCal. They said 1-2 days. The delivery required an appointment as well. had to arrive within seven business days. Well, on day 4 there was no delivery and not even an appointment made, so the buyer contacted us to check. We contacted Central Transport, and their customer service said there was a slight delay, but not to worry, it was going out for delivery tomorrow and they would make sure the appointment was made that day so the delivery would be smooth. LIARS. That same scenario happened three times, on day four, day five and day six. Lies! Lies! Lies! On day seven, they tried to pull that again, but I made them keep me on hold while they 'confirmed' with the warehouse. Yeah, the pallet was in the second warehouse they had shipped it to (apparently a pallet must go to a receiving warehouse and then to a distributing warehouse, and then to the destination) - so its day seven, the pallet has arrived at the distributing warehouse, but its not unloaded yet. It might take three or four days to unload and then another day or two to turn around, and then it might get shipped to the final destination. So suddenly the story is "we are experiencing heavy freight volume, and doing everything we can" - mind you this is the same 'supervisor' who 20 minutes prior had confirmed with me that the pallet was ready for transport and would arrive at final destination in a few hours. And not once did he apologize or even acknowledge he had lied. When I called him out on it, he acted like I hadn't said anything and repeated 'heavy freight volume'. When I asked him why four days in a row, why he and his team had lied to us, why they hadn't just said there were delays, he acted like I didn't understand logistics. When I said 'if one person had said there might be delays' we could have extended the delivery window without incurring charges, but no one ever did, he again explained they had heavy freight volume. I ended up hanging up on him, because he wouldn't hand the phone to anyone else above him, nor would he acknowledge that the lies and platitudes had seriously messed us up and cost me money. I was to receive a pallet shipment today between 9:00 and 5:00. At 4:00 I phoned for status. Was told that the truck broke down and driver returned to base. When I asked why I was not notified, I was told, "That is not a service we provide. Besides, that would be customer service, not dispatch." Both service and attitude are inexcusable. They never keep their commitment to delivery, have inaccurate Bill of Ladings and couldn't care less about customer service. Placed an order with a supplier who uses Central Transport and the delivery was due on 10/2 - never arrived even though they created a BOL showing delivery was done that date. Ordered replacement load through my supplier (rush delivery requested of Central) while still looking for the 1st load. Both loads showed up together on 10/18 on the same truck, even though they claimed the first delivery was done on 10/2. The second load was late too, and they said the driver had a flat tire. Well, that only takes a few hours to take care of. Now waiting for another delivery and wondering what the excuse will be - maybe the driver will run out of gas or possibly blinker fluid. Unbelievably bad. Ordered a tractor grapple from WI, a 6 hour drive from where I live. So far, I have waited over a week and a half. The grapple is in town but they have twice failed to show up to make the delivery. I have doubts it will ever arrive. No call.
