I have been with Century Eye Care approximately 4 years. I have read several reviews and not surprised in regards to persons leaving a low rating because of lack of answering the phone or too many people in the waiting room or long waits in the waiting room after one's scheduled appointment. If you ask me, that's most Drs offices! I had the same experience in regards to not being able to contact somebody on the phone, but they have since been improving through the years that I have been going to Century Eye Care. I have been to both locations: 118th St. in Hawthorne as well as the Redondo Beach location. What I found is that the staff are very educated and are very busy with a lot of patient's. They are trying to help a lot of people so having patience when you come for your appointment and will get good service is imperative. I was tested several times and couldn't get why I couldn't see correctly until I was seen by Dr. Aghai that diagnosed me with cataracts in both my right and left eye. I had several appointments with him and his staff, of which they conducted several test to make sure that once I had to have cataract surgery, the lens that they were offering me were proper for my condition. Because I stated that I wanted to have Lasik eye surgery, they offered me the Elite Multi-focal lenses. We are currently in June 2025 and I have had cataract surgery on both my left eye at the beginning of June and now my right eye in the middle of June and my vision is amazing. My cataracts have been removed and replaced with the Elite Multi focal lenses, which is a true miracle!!! Dr, Aghai and his staff have treated me very well through my process of having very blurry vision and not being able to drive, to my current stage of being able to see the day after my surgery to 20/25. In weeks to come I should be at 20/20 vision and be able to see far, middle and near without any assistance from glasses. Although this office does help so many people and they're waiting room is usually packed, the service that you receive is amazing and this office is well equipped with a variety of machines to test you properly so that once your diagnosed you get the proper assistance to have you seeing 20/20. Dr, Aghai and his staff are very patient and they don't rush you in and rush you out, especially with something as serious and important as your eyes/vision. I would definitely recommend Dr, Aghai and his qualified staff for their knowledge, skill and patience with every patient. Dr, Aghai was always very friendly, very personable and very open to any questions you may have even if you repeat the same question. He always has a smile on his face and is very open to helping you feel comfortable and to make sure that you understand the procedure or the service that's going to take place! 04/08/19 once again if I could I would give this place a zero. None of the concerns got addressed!!! Got here at 8:50 the nurses took my mom in did their part then told us to wait 10 mins which turned into 20 cause I was actually timing. Talked to this girl at the desk and told her how it's 20 min and they still haven't called us in. She called the back and they said my mom is next. So I see the people that the doc took in came out but they still haven't called my mom. We are now going to 40 mins of waiting while seeing the doctor walking around inside. It still looks like they have scheduled too many people. PLEASE TRAIN YOUR DESK PEOPLE!! THEY ARE RUDE! I have worked at customer service before and if the desk people isnt helpful or friendly then it ruin the whole place cause the desk people are face of the facility!! My mom had an appointment at 10AM. They took her in around 11 and said she need dilate so they put eye drop in her and told us to wait 30 mins someone will call us back. One hour later still nothing. Asked the nurse (asian male) when they will call her in or if i could get estimated time frame. He rudely said don't worry about it. Was losing sight to cataracts/glaucoma..been wearing glasses since age 4...fir more than half of my life. Can't believe I don't any longer. Dr is professional, knowledgeable, caring and friendly. If I could rate Gardena location no stars, I definitely would. 1st of all there's a bunch of girls in the front desk who never answer the phone, all they do is eat chips and gossip. 2nd of all wait time is RIDICULOUS, it makes no sense to have an appointment when your wait time will still be 1+ hours. 3rd of all the guy in charge of contacts/glasses.... WOW he is definitely the definition of lazy. I ordered my contacts with him more than a month ago, (before Christmas to be exact) and payed in full like he required me to. I called 2 weeks after and he said shipping was delayed which I totally and completely understand and then he said he'd reach out with an update which he never did. He works at both Hawthorne & Gardena locations so for more than a month I've been having to track him down just to get an update & when I finally do talk to him he simply says he does not know. I recently moved to California from the south, and was in need of an optometrist. I have a slight case of glaucoma and the vision in my left eye was very blurry. I work from home utilizing 4 screens, so my vision is vital to my career. Instead of looking outside the neighborhood where I moved, I looked to do business near me. I found Century Eye Care through my insurance web site. I spoke with the young lady who answered the phone and explained my situation and sense of urgency. I was given an appt for an examination promptly and was seen by the staff within a week. After all of the test and exams, I was told that I needed to get laser treatment on both eyes, with the left, obviously being the priority. The 1st Red Flag was that they could not schedule me for the treatment for another month. I accepted the schedule, with the understanding that treatment would be done. However, upon my arrival for the long awaited appt, I was told that more tests were needed and that it would be ANOTHER MONTH before the actually treatment would take place...another red flag. To make this long story shorter, I showed up early for my late afternoon appt, only to be told that the doctor was in surgery and had not arrived on site. 2 hours later, he arrived, apologized and explained that he had an emergency surgery that had to be done. I asked him if the surgery was successful and he said it was, so I accepted his apology and we went forth with the procedure. I was then given an appt fort he right eye and was given a time of 2pm. I received a call the next day, changing the time to 4pm. I arrived, early as I usually do, and guess what....the doctor was in surgery and not on site. I told the receptionist that I'd be back in an hour and she said that was a good idea. To shorten this up further, I was there until 6 pm and still had not seen the doctor. I left!!!!! Any professional who feels that my time is less important than theirs does a disservice to the serviced public. I was even told by one of the staff that they understood my frustration because they did not want to be there so late either. My response..."you are being paid to be here", I'm not. In fact, I'm doing the paying, so my time should be of more concern. The bottom line is, I have found another optometrist who, after hearing my story, promised to be a better steward of my time. Century Eye Care may provide a much needed service in an under serviced community, but that does not give them the right to take that community for granted. Everyone's time is important to them, whether they are a minimum wage employee or a doctor. read more

I visited Century Eye Care 28 Oct 2021, got my eyes tested, measured, I selected my two frames, and I left a $302.20 deposit. I was told my glasses would be ready in 3 to 4 weeks; I returned 29 Dec 2021 and my order had not been initiated much less, processed. I was not a happy camper, so I asked for my deposit to be returned, I planned to take my business elsewhere. I was told the person that handled finances was out that day, so if I wanted a refund, I would need to return the next day. I returned the very next day, 29 Dec, Wed and the office was closed supposedly due to COVID-19 concerns. I called the office number and of course no one answered, and it was not possible to leave a message. At this time, I contacted my BofA credit card representative and got my $302.20 refunded. If you need eye care in SOCAL, I highly recommend you go anywhere but Century Eye Care, they are very unprofessional. If I could provide a NEGATIVE rating I would, 1 star is too high of a rating for Century Eye Care. read more

dear Lord HELP this office . the opticians are very good . staff is nice in the back end BUT the front office is so up and down / shifty / irritating . my grandfather had to get surgery on both eyes - so we've had about 10 appts - routines and pre and post appts . each time we have sat for HOURS - so bring a book , bring snacks , bring something ! plan to sit here for HOURS . I'm talking 1 1/2 is the LEAST you'll be here before an appt . the longest we have sat around and been in this office was 4 hours. this WASENT just a one time thing - it's back to back . not only that , but scheduling IS HORRIFIC. we have literally sat four hours waiting for surgery . upon leaving the office I have gotten the time for the next appt , then called the day before my appt and it would literally be switched WITHOUT my consent . this has happened NEARLY EVERY TIME! today we arrive to the 12 pm appt and they said it was at 1140.
