Racially intolerant establishment After going here for months I noticed that I was among the few people that the owner asked at the end of the services to tip . So I asked the owner why that was and she stated because I don't tip enough for them to service me. I paid $75 for gel manicure and regular pedicure. I've tipped between 10 / 20 dollars almost every time I've came with the exception of twice I tipped $5 . I believe this is racially motivated. The majority of the clientele is Caucasian with very few women of color( maybe 4 or 5). She has not once asked any of her Caucasian clientele to tip. read more

I received a manicure and pedicure from this lovely nail salon a couple of days before my summer 2021 wedding. The nails looked gorgeous and they even withstood my honeymoon in Iceland! From the start to the end, I felt incredibly comfortable in this immaculate nail salon. I especially loved how friendly the owner, Helen, was to me and my sister-in-law. Upon my arrival at Century Nails I was taken aback by the lovely scenery and cleanliness of the place. Atmosphere was so nice I had to snap chat my sister and show off the nice renovation to the new nail salon down the street that was hidden and always empty quite frankly. Make a long story short they have a ridiculous price for stuff I've never seen a nail salon charge and the lady that did my nails did such a half ass job with runny paint and got oil on my Michael Kors Sandals. Like why did yu feel the need to put my shoes on if yu still needs to apply more oils and runny products as yu hack at my feet with the cuticles. This place has above average prices, but worth it! They are fast and efficient - and the quality is consistent. The ladies here try really hard to make my nails look perfect in every step of a manicure, AND then give you a short back/neck massage while you wait for your nails to dry. Just went to get a gel manicure and I couldn't be happier! The technician shaped them exactly like I asked her to and the paint job is the best I've ever seen. (trust me I ask for some pretty intricate designs) I was skeptical at first because of some of the older reviews but decided to give them a shot since I heard they were under new management and I'm so thrilled that I did. I used to go to this salon all the time. I live nearby and I always had decent experiences. Plus the place is huge and everyone is friendly. When it came time ot book a salon for my bridesmaids and I to get our nails done for my wedding, I spoke with the ladies at Century about it. They were fantastic and super excited. They let us bring champagne and food and we played music and had a great time. .....until we saw our nails. I don't know if it was the chaos of the day, but no one had a good experiences. My pedicure color was nothing like the one I requested (the non-gel version of the gel color I liked), my gel manicure was messy (gel all over my fingers, half of the nails were sticky, with no relief after swabs of alcohol trying to remove it, and the other half completely lost their shine). I got rhinestones on my ring fingers for the big day, and the woman doing my nails didn't even make sure they matched. Of course there was so much going on that we didn't even realize it until we were all out of there and hated them. I feel like they have the potential to be good, but they are in such a hurry that your nails end up looking sloppy. At my wedding, my nails looked decent from far away, but like I said, completely lost their shine (and that's what I get gel manis for!). I went to Mexico the day after the wedding and ended up peeling off my mani and getting a pedicure at the spa at our resort less than a week later. It was such a disappointment! I won't be returning to Century. Go see Ada or Aliyah at Salon Esperanza in Ambler if you want a good manicure. read more

I used to religiously use this salon for my pedicures until I discovered one Sunday that they were not open (they now have hours on Sundays). I started using another salon closer to my house that had better hours. This past weekend, however, my salon was jam packed, so I decided to stop by Century and see if they could get me in because I had a wedding to go to. I walked in and was immediately greeted as they asked what services I wanted. I was going for a gel manicure and a pedicure. They sat me down for the manicure first (which I thought was weird) and did not have any of the colors I wanted and were not helpful as I was trying to select one. I am used to to OPI gel, and the other brand is very different. Everything was going fine until I took my hand out of the UV light and the polish had bubbles all over each nail. The man told me it was just the light and it would be fine. He then went on to my second coat and top coat and as I dried, he moved on to another customer. He never came back. The old lady manager came back to spray my hands off. Usually a hand massage with lotion follows. No massage. As I waited a long time for one of the FOUR old, dirty, and cracked leather pedicure chairs to open, she made me pay for my services (shouldn't you wait until the end, like any other service ie/ restaurant, car repair, hair salon?)..... A chair finally opened and I sat down, handed a different girl my color and turned on the massage. As my feet were soaking, she answered her cell phone that was loudly ringing and proceeded to talk on it for about 5 minutes. Then, she takes my feet out of the water and, with no cuticle oil, begins butchering my feet. She was so rough with my cuticles they actually bled and were sore for days. When I told her she was hurting me she replied, "your cuticles are so dry!" Yeah...that's because you CUT THEM DRY. The rest of the experience was just as bad. She continued to pay no attention to what she was doing, didn't buff my feet, and didn't massage my feet or legs AT ALL. She then painted my toes worse than my 10 year old cousin would. I still didn't complain and just went to sit at the dryer. When my "pedicure" was dry, I politely spoke with the manager telling her that this was the worst pedicure I have ever gotten, and I get them every 2 weeks. I even gave her the opportunity to look at the terrible paint job. Since I had already given her the $45, she handed me my refund. $5. How generous. An all cash, under-the-table business gave me FIVE WHOLE DOLLARS back. I left, infuriated. Needless to say, I will not be going back there ever again, and I have learned my lesson about paying up front before services. **5 days after service my gel manicure is totally chipped off. This same manicure from my regular salon lasts a standard 12-14 days looking almost perfect, and I am a nurse who washes hands all day long** read more

I have gone to Century Nail & Spa for years. I have always been impressed by their attention to detail and was assured when I saw them remove their tools from a sterilizer for each client. Today everything seemed a little different: less workers and clients. A few clients came in with appointments and had to wait. The manicurist that I had had to be reminded to clean the corners of both my big toes not just one! ***While I was drying, she proceeded to go to the next client with the SAME tools she used on me and how many more that day!!! I have been going here for years and was excited to see the new renovations. That's where my enthusiasm stops. Yes - the place looks nice, but I received services I did not want and definitely did not ask for. I confirmed several times that I was only getting a regular pedicure and regular manicure. I was sprayed, oiled, lathered in lotion and rubbed with hot rocks. Then they put gel on my nails. I specifically told them no gel! The worst part was the workers. I used to use this nail salon often. Why they refer to this as a spa is beyond me, as it is far from a spa. I figured I would try it again after a few months of trying other places. I, still, was far from impressed. The "spa" is dirty and seems unsanitary. The technicians are nice which is why I decided to give two stars instead of one. I have been going to Century Nail & Spa since it opened. I love this place. I have had a number of different nail technicians and all have done a wonderful job. Helen, the owner, is very caring about her customers. You get a wonderful neck and shoulder rub after your manicure. And the pedicures are wonderful. They take very good care of me. The TV is set on a cooking channel, and it's always fun to see the different recipes and cooking tips. Would highly recommend. It takes about an hour and a half for a pedicure and gel manicure, so if you don't have an appointment, make sure you allow for enough time before they close. read more

I arrived at 6:30 (they close at 7), signed in and was greeted/hugged by one of the staff members. After spending almost 10 minutes looking for a polish, I settled on a color and sat at the bar to wait. A lady doing pedicures looks over at me unapologetically tells me they already have people waiting and they close at 7. She never even bothered to ask me what service I needed or even ask if I could come back another day. She just wanted me to put the polish back and leave. Why would she not tell me they were too busy when I first walked in the door? If you knew then you didn't want to service me, why let me waste my time searching for a polish RIGHT BESIDE YOU for nearly 10 minutes? I have been to this location several times and really enjoyed it, but this time I felt like I was not welcome or valued as a customer so I won't be back. read more

Randomly discovered this spa while roaming about in the mall. I got the best facial and massage from Sarah. I highly recommend her. They offer so many different services. Don't waste your time here. Poor products and service. I came in for a gel manicure and toe nail polish change. They charge an additional $5 to take existing gel polish off which I think is absurd being that this service is free at other salons. The manicurist soaked my nails in hot acetone for over 10 mins. Most of gel polish peeled off but for the reminder of the polish she proceeded to file off...filing not only the polish off but also my nails..leaving my nails almost paper thin. She continued to buff and file my names even after I told her about the tenderness I began to feel after she had been filing for almost 5 mins. I instructed her to stop but she complained that all the gel did not come off..so what was the point of soaking? I guess I got my $5 worth. Unfortunately, she thinned the hell out of my nails - leaving them soft, sensitive, and brittle. The manicure literally consisted of her soaking my nails off, buffing, squaring the tips, and applying the nail polish. What kind of half azz manicure was that? So much for a gel manicure...the very next day the "gel" started peeling off. If I could give this place no stars I would - horrible, horrible service! What a rip off! read more

I got a manicure and pedicure last week and had a fabulous experience last week. I have tried a few nail salons in the area and by far this is my favorite. The staff was friendly and they took their time. They shaped my nails perfectly and the massages were great. I was even given a parafin treatment to my heals when it was noticed that they were very rough. I cannot say nicer things about this place and will definitly go back more often. They are also reasonalbe. And although appointments are not required it can't hurt since it does get busy at times. read more
