In early December, my elderly in-laws asked for my help because their CenturyLink DSL service (both phone and internet) was down. When I connected to their Wi-Fi, I discovered a CenturyLink splash page bluntly informing them their service was being discontinued, and they'd need to switch to Quantum Fiber, CenturyLink's supposed "sister company." Without warning, CenturyLink had already cut their service. After examining their modem's setup page and confirming the service was dead, I called Quantum Fiber on their behalf and scheduled an appointment to install fiber at their house. The earliest available appointment was December 18th. When the Quantum technician finally arrived, they took one look and declared, "Oh, we're going to need to dig a cable to the house. We'll do it after the holidays." No firm date, no follow-up plan--just a vague "after the holidays." The holidays came and went. Still nothing. In the meantime, I reached out to CenturyLink to at least reconnect their phone service, as my in-laws--both elderly and not comfortable using cell phones--had no way to make calls. CenturyLink flatly refused, despite their old modem showing the DSL status as "connected." A manager dismissed me with a hollow apology: "As much as we'd love to help, we just can't reconnect the phone now that it's swapped over to Quantum." Weeks later, my mother-in-law called CenturyLink directly and was told, "Oh, this isn't right. We can reconnect your phone until Quantum finishes the install." That was two weeks ago. Despite repeated assurances that it would take no more than three business days, nothing has been resolved. To add insult to injury, Quantum already has their payment information on file from the initial setup process, yet they've done absolutely nothing to deliver service. This entire experience has been a masterclass in incompetence, finger-pointing, and customer neglect. CenturyLink and Quantum Fiber are two sides of the same broken coin, and neither company seems capable of basic communication, let alone providing reliable service. I wouldn't touch either of these companies with a 10-foot Ethernet cable. If you value your time, money, or sanity, stay far, far away. I'm also now exploring potential legal options, because leaving elderly customers without phone or internet for over a month is not just negligent--it's disgraceful. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would! My disabled parents, ages 95 and 86, have received less than 5 days of service over a one month period. Their "service" is constantly down. After 5 service calls, they still do not have phone or internet! Per their own technicians, Century Link/Lumen will not properly maintain their infrastructure and have "crumbling lines." They use temporary solutions that quickly fail in order to skirt legal requirements. This company should be out of business and held criminally responsible for failing to provide service to the disabled! read more

Worst internet service. My internet turns off every day. It has been this way for years. I tried tech help a few years ago. I gave up. In the last few weeks this is my speed. DOWNLOAD Mbps 31.19 UPLOAD Mbps 2.52. That is actually a faster upload than I have seen for at least 10 days but it's so slow you cannot even open Microsoft shop/game page to look at the information and your account. It's just gray boxes for a long long long time. "While the FCC's standard suggests a minimum of 3 Mbps for uploads" [Century Link can't even do the minimum]. Do not get them, you will be sorry. Worst internet service, ever!! My internet goes on and out of working, everyday. Now, we have had an outage for 2 days, and it's supposed to be down for the next 2-3 weeks!?! WTF?!? My family might end up homeless over losing our internet, because now we have zero income coming in, since I can't work without Internet!! They simply don't care. I had a land line, for 47 years, with the same number. Kept it as it worked during the earthquake, 9/11 and power outages. It broke at the Century Link office. Day after day I was told it would be fixed the next day. Each day they cancelled the repair. But said nothing. Finally after 3 weeks with a dead service I cut bait and cancelled my account. You have several ways of contacting CenturyLink. One is by chat. The queues are long and god help you if you get distracted and miss the narrow window to chat then you start over. If by chance you get through odds are that this person won't be able to help and you get to wait in another queue. If you're lucky you stumble on someone that thinks they can help well they manage to totally mangle the request and you start over. You can also try by phone. The phone tree was designed by a sadistic drunk monkey. Your experience will be similar to the chat but you speak to a recording for long stretches answering seemingly unrelated questions. Finally you get a real person who's been studying English since last weekend. You answer questions with many "Will you repeat that please?" and finally they decide they can't help you, so you start over. I've wasted hours on chat and hours on the phone just to have a jack relocated so I can remodel my home. The result was one technician shows up with a completely wrong work order and the second the guy is a no call no show. The bottom line is CenturyLink service is a huge waste of time and they couldn't find their collective ass with two hands and a flashlight. read more

For the past 6-7 my household has had no wifi, apparently due to "failure in equipment". i'm sick and tired of hearing them change the days when the wifi is coming back. When we call, the staff constantly say the same thing as if we haven't been doing it already, "unplug the router for 30 seconds". They don't listen at all they just act as if they agree and say the same thing but not fixing the issue fast enough. Many of us work from home and it is difficult!! read more

This review is written while i am on a long hold to the main number. Historically the hold time is long and the information from the live agents is inconsistent; resulting in multiple calls or transfers. I am on my third transfer. The audio spam is worse here than any other company. It would make anyone want to hang up and take their business somewhere else. I would switch land line carriers, but options are nil. read more

Crooks and Terri tripi is part of that you can reach her at 318-450-4023, they were told by Verizon that there would no longer be combined billing but they refused to except that. Even though I pay me bill directly to Verizon fir my wireless centurylink keeps billing me and Terri tripi would not adjust off my bill even with I did a conference call involving my bank and Verizon saying my paid in full. She had egg on her face twice and still would not adjust my bill. Needless to say I've filed report with attorney general and will go to small claims court to resolve. So here is an update on this. I called Century Link's customer support and they told me the same for rescheduling install. The person I was speaking with ended up hanging up on me after going silent for a minute or 2. I called back and asked for a supervisor and was put on hold and was hung up on again. So i called back and asked for a supervisor again. This time I was put on hold and after a couple minutes she came back on and said she was connecting me with a supervisor at that moment. With trying to connect me to the supervise we were disconnected. However this supervisor called me right back. She apologized for the disconnection and again after hearing all about what I have been through to get internet installed. Her name is Anna and she did everything she could to help me out. Anna did get my install date moved up even though I do have to take some time off work again. Anna was able to answer all of my questions with no problem. She did have to get off the line for a meeting but did call me back promptly afterwards to confirm that everything was setup and I will have internet installed on the 7/9 in the AM. Anna is a great supervise with great customer service skills. Thank you Anna! I only gave Century Link a 3 star because of you Anna but you are a 5 star in yourself. Now lets hope my install goes as good from here on. read more

My mom was with out a landline And Internet for three weeks. When I finally came to her house to help her quit century link because they weren't doing a thing to fix it and continuing to bill her full price It took my aunt myself and my mom from 11 AM to 4 PM getting the runaround from century link, it took my aunt my self and my mom from 11 AM to 4 PM getting the runaround from century link we were passed around from tech to tech we were on hold for 30 and 45 minutes at a time we were disconnected over and over again. There's no place in Tacoma to take the box to drop off ,old Century Link businesses are now a Jack-in-the-Box and an apartment building. Centry link techs refused to give an address to send the box back to, finally we were able to get the land line closed, then we had to work on closing the internet account. Then after the 6 th tech and 5 hrs on the phone we finally learned to go to UPS and they would print out a return label to put on the box to send back. And we were charged $2.00 for that,The workers at ups acknowledged our frustration and Exhaustion. We were told to keep the receipt for the rest of our lives because century link does not pick up their boxes when they're delivered to a p.o Box in Kentucky! I can't believe we were treated like this and this company should be shut down. Going three weeks without a landline could have led to an emergency not being met! If they needed to call an ambulance. And who goes 3 weeks without Internet?! F Y I when my 93-year-old grandmother had century link She was always getting charged a bill and never had working service!
