My husband and I are always looking to try out new spot, Ceron did not disappoint, I had the duck breast with sweet potato butternut squash ravioli, creamed spinach and Cabernet demi glaze and it was delicious. Each item is so well complimented with the next. My husband ordered the Berkshire pork chop with pumpkins gnocchi, turnips, greens and cornmeal bacon, which was perfectly cooked and the cornmeal bacon added a nice crunchy touch. We've been here a few times for brunch and we are always impressed by the food...but let me tell you, it's dinner that really sets it apart from the best. Flavors are complex, layered, and full bodied. Seafood is fresh, doesn't taste previously frozen, and produce is as fresh as if it came from a garden outback of the restaurant. We've met the head chef during brunch visits and this evening we met the owner whom approached us while we were wrapping up my husband's bday dinner. The staff is professional and the ambiance is up-scale. Highly recommend Ceron! We are anxious to try out Alley and Vine which is operated by the same owner. From Proud to Punched in the Face! I have never been to this restaurant before but I had heard good things. In fact, before they even opened I started following them on instagram. But when they published the menu it was very meat focused so I never visited. A friend told me they made a lovely brunch and it had more options for a vegetarian like me. Sooo, fast forward to today. I had a big group of people I was hosting in Alameda for the weekend and we needed a brunch spot for a party of 12 - finally I had chance to make a reservation for Ceron Kitchen! When we arrived, on time, for our reservation we were happy to see our table was set and ready for us - everyone in the party was so thrilled about the location. "What a pretty place!" "Oh the menu looks scrumptious!" "The prices seem high but I bet the food is delish!" "I didn't know Alameda had places like this!". There were only a handful of vegetarian options on the menu but I found something I was interested in trying. After about 20 minutes our server took our drink order and we ordered a few apps. That was a long time to wait to order BUT we were in a happy mood talking and gabbing as friends. The drinks took about 15 minutes and arrived at the same time as the apps. The cocktails and mocktails were very yummy. The cheese plate was fresh and the bread was crunchy/hard which confused me because they didn't seem like they would be crackers but the cheese made up for it. The biscuits were tasty but tiny (seriously like REALLY tiny!). Although they were really good they were literally one bite per biscuit and three biscuits per order - totally overpriced at $14!?! We ordered our main meals and continued on with our conversation. Although things were progressing slowly at this point I was still feeling total PRIDE that Alameda had such a beautiful top-notch restaurant. BUT this is when things started to fall apart... no one checked on us, our water glasses were empty, the drinks were drunk, and there was no food coming our way. After another hour we received our main dishes at exactly ONE HOUR and FORTY FIVE MINUTES after we sat down! That is literally almost TWO HOURS later than our reservation!! Not only that, two members of our party received their dishes nearly 10 minutes after the first food arrived. Our friends were all still in fairly good spirits so everyone looked forward to their meals with anticipation... well partially because they were probably starving by this point BUT also because all the food DID seem so scrumptious on the menu listing. Alas it was all a PUNCH in the FACE! Some of the food was cold (eggs), other dishes anemic and undercooked (Huevos Rancheros), others not cooked (Potatoes), other dishes boring (Waffles and Chicken). The restaurant had one other large table and I counted that there were 5 other tables occupied at the time we were there. Soooo I would say they should not have been all that busy to be able to make our experience more enjoyable. Although Alameda restaurants can be a little on the casual side when it comes to service, at this place the service was horrendous. I was so embarrassed that I brought everyone to this restaurant; very annoyed by the whole experience and bummed to spend so much on a below-average experience. read more

Interior nicely done, service poor. Seven people waiting 8 customer tables. We think there was a party upstairs but over all not worth the wait or the food. Had chicken and waffles, rubber waffle and small chicken breast split in half to make it look bigger. Been to other restaurants in Alameda cheaper and larger portions. Waffles was cold like it was made earlier in the morning. Had to ask for water and coffee. Asked 4 people for coffee till someone had remembered that I and others wanted coffee. No one ever came to check if needed anything, just disappeared or staff not sure who does what. Suggestion: hire a person to just refill water and coffee and everything else would be a positive. Food and was so so, should've gone to someplace else. The staff nicely dressed but does not reflect food or service. Recommendation is if you want to wait go here, but if want tasty food go someplace else. read more

I came here for my 30th birthday back in January and had such a wonderful experience here. The owner was super nice and provided us with complimentary champagne to celebrate. Wow, the food is very good at Ceron. The appetizer was off the chart. I looked at what the ingredients were and could not imagine the combination. When it came out it was so beautifully arranged and the taste was divine. We ordered the seafood plates with pappardelle and linguini. I highly recommend the seafood linguini or pappardelle entree which the linguini had a very subtle spiciness in the white sauce. I really liked it. Try it. It's a beautiful place. This restaurant is very nice and upscale but the food & service didn't match up. I came on a weekday and it was not very busy (got busy later after I was finished with my meal) but the service was very slow. The portions were also very small for the price. The biscuits were weird and some tasted overly salty and others tasted very sugary. The calamari was very good, I'd go back for that only. The branzino was very good and cooked perfectly but their was a weird green sauce on the plate that wasn't pleasant. The prawn & chorizo risotto lacked flavor. The prawns were over cooked, barley any chorizo flavor and the risotto was under cooked. I don't know, like some stuff was ok but I wouldn't come back. My Honey Love had been wanting to try this place for a while so we reserved dinner here on a Sunday night. It was very quiet and not busy at all. We were seated right away and were appalled by the ambience. From the outside looking in I didn't expect this establishment to be so fancy and beautiful on the inside! The staff were very friendly, professional and checked on us frequently. The food and drinks were extremely tasteful. I had the seafood pasta and my love had the chicken entree. We happened to eat here on the last day of restaurant week. We tried the pre-fixed menu, the savory biscuits appetizer was not doughy and very tasty. Lobster Fettuccine- very tasty and I like that it's got more lobster meat than most places I have tried. It had one small lobster tail and at least five claws. The crème brûlée was good. We enjoyed an evening of good food and good company. The ambiance is made for it, dimly lit with exquisite copper lights on the tables. The ceiling tiles must be acoustic because we were able hold a normal volume conversation. Service was slow but the waiter was alone but efficient. Now the food was very good. I got the Buttermilk Chive biscuits and they were so had wonderful layers with craggy, crispy bits on the tops and sides. My pork chop was beautiful, well seasoned and juicy. A tad underdone in the center of this double thick morsel of meat but that is fortuitous because I took it home and it re heated to perfection. My dining partners had the crab risotto in a spinach purée that was visually lovely and the rice was creamy but had texture. The crab flavor was hit and miss. The other star was the Sea scallops as they were big and bursting with "brinyness" and fork tender, it was a "clean plate club" winner. Pricey but worth it. read more

Located on the main thoroughfare that is Webster Street in the quaint community of Alameda, California, Ceron Kitchen is a passion project of owner Vicente Ceron, whose background is that of a construction company owner. Along with Executive Chef Juan Jaquez, they managed to successfully achieve their dream of serving elevated New American cuisine to the suburban masses. I had heard about the buzz coming from Ceron Kitchen after multiple media publications, including Eater SF and the San Francisco Chronicle, described the journey that it took for Ceron Kitchen to make it after the previous tenant venerable Otaez Mexican Restaurant closed back in June 2021, and Ceron Kitchen fully gutted their new home and just opened as recently as March of this year. When a friend who lived in Alameda asked me to dine out for lunch on a recent Monday afternoon, which happened to be a holiday, I suggested going here, as they were not only new but open on a Monday for business, they were excited. Reservations via the OpenTable website were super easy to make, and with no credit card necessary, receiving 100 points was a nice touch. They have a parking lot in the back of their restaurant, in addition to a separate entrance. The host stand was in front of their restaurant door, which faced Webster Street and we decided to sit on a four-top table with the street activity as our view for the afternoon. They have quite the expansive drink menu at Ceron Kitchen as they have a wine book with a wide variety of wines to select from, and full cocktail and liqueur menu to select from. My friend and I decided to each order a cocktail from one of their three, yes three menus, they have Featured Cocktails, Classic Cocktails, and "All Things Considered Equal'', which featured cocktails made with equal parts. From their Featured Cocktail menu, I ordered the El Sueño, which contained Belvedere Organic Blackberry and Lemongrass Vodka, Crème de Cassis, pomegranate juice, lemon juice and served with half of a copper sugar rim and a dehydrated strawberry slice, while my friend ordered their Lil' Pick Me Up from the same menu. This cocktail had Ketel One Vodka, Mr. Black Coffee Liqueur, Cold Brew Coffee and Housemade Coffee Syrup. These two drinks were lovingly crafted and delightfully presented which gave our meal some initial promise. It turns out the afternoon we arrived they would only have one server and one bartender on staff which would eventually affect how our day would go. We did ask our server what their most popular appetizer on their Firsts section of their menu was and she suggested one of the final four options listed were the top-sellers. We opted for their Hamachi, which featured spring fruit, melon granita, Brokaw avocados, Shishito peppers, and trout caviar. Once presented with this sharable dish, we were so impressed with both the bounty of flavors and rustic presentation emanating from this dish. We did wish there was more Hamachi in the dish, as all of the fresh ingredients tended to get a little too muddled and drowned out the intended star of the plate, besides the trout caviar of course. As for our entrées, I opted to order their Chicken Marsala which was served with a side of pappardelle pasta, grilled asparagus, and topped with a gravy with wild mushrooms, while my friend opted for their Porcini Ravioli which was topped in a wild mushroom marsala cream sauce. I really liked my Chicken Marsala, as it was cooked well and the marsala sauce wasn't too overwhelming as it sometimes can be. To pair with his entrée, my friend opted for their Corpse Revivor #2 cocktail which featured equal parts Hendrick gin, Cointreau, Lillet Blanc, lemon juice, and a spray of St. George Absinthe. He actually was ready to order a third cocktail but things got so chaotic with their service that after taking over fifteen minutes to come out, he decided to pass on receiving it and got it knocked off of our final bill. Since there was so much food in my entrée, I decided to save some of my Chicken Marsala for later and our server even offered to box it for me, which I instantly learned to regret that decision as they would return to tell me that they accidentally threw out my remaining meal instead of boxing it up for me. They were nice enough to offer to actually re-cook my dish, or take it off our final bill, which is what we opted to do. We actually had a nice time at Ceron Kitchen, as the atmosphere is lively yet gives a façade of high end service and food. Since they're still so new they still have some kinks to work out, but the dishes were presented with rustic flair that has serious potential that foodies can appreciate and locals can enjoy at the same time. We went again last night and split the rib eye. It was fantastic. Somebody in the kitchen knows how to cook a steak. We shared a bottle of Rutherford Ranch Cab which went perfectly with the meal. But, check it out, as great as the steak was you have to try the chocolate silk pie. It is excellent. We are thinking of going back today and just getting wine and this pie. read more

I've been wanting to try Ceron since we moved to Oakland last year and I'm just sorry we hadn't come sooner! My husband and I dined here for brunch with our 3 month old. We were seated promptly and in a booth to accommodate for our baby in carseat. The restaurant is beautiful, welcoming and bright. Our server was lovely and attentive throughout our meal. We enjoyed cocktails and glasses of wine. Their beverage and wine list is really extensive and impressive. Our food arrived quickly and was delicious! We shared calamari and a frittata. Came here for my birthday dinner with a few friends on a Wednesday night. The restaurant is much bigger on the inside than I thought it would be. Our server was attentive and friendly. The owner came out at one point with champagne for us, and someone came later to take a photo and printed it for us before we left. While never expected, these extra efforts are greatly appreciated. To be clear, I would have still left a 5 star review if not for the champagne or photo and dont feel that a restaurant should be penalized for not doing these things. We ordered cocktails off their harvest menu. The pumpkin one was amazing. It was sweet, but that is what I like. Tasted like pumpkin pie in a glass, with some booze included. The chive biscuits are so good. I got the lobster fettucini which was amazing. We were too full for dessert. We stayed past their closing time, but no one made us feel rushed out like other places have in the past. Will definitely be visiting here again to try more items off the menu. read more

This restaurant is so good!! Out front they have some seating with fire pits which made the restaurant look relaxed and casual. When I walked in I was surprised by how nice the decor was. The menu was on the pricey side so we were expecting the food to be small portions. We were surprised that the firsts and entrees were pretty big and filling. We tried the duck breast with truffle ravioli, octopus tostada, Hamachi, and Margarita pizza. Everything was soo good. The duck breast was rich and paired so well with the ravioli. I was surprised that the fruit paired well with the Hamachi. The tostada had a good combo of flavors and textures. The octopus was nice and tender. The pizza had a nice, crispy crust. The waiters pace up and down in their "pinguins" outfit and forget to ask for your order. The atmosphere is nice, food great and a little pricey. I went for lunch and had the B L T A on brioche bun. It was the best BLTA I had. The bacon was thick, crisp and salty/sweet. The brioche bun was soft yet toasted with crisp edges. The avocado was fresh and so plentiful. I really enjoyed the shoestring fries and pickle! Except when the waiter packed my leftover, he didn't pack the fries or pickle....the best part to complete my meal. I came here a few weeks ago for my friend's birthday and I was so excited because I heard great things about the food, especially brunch. Unfortunately, none of it is true. The food and drinks were absolutely horrible. I got the Prosciutto and Arugula Pizza - the crust was tough and chewy, the prosciutto was dry and impossible to bite through, and there was a ridiculous amount of arugula on top. I sent it back because it was inedible. My friend got the bolognese and he said it was tasty but extremely greasy and heavy and they didn't even serve it with bread to soak up any of the greasy sauce. The only good thing we had was the lemon drop cocktail which was great but was over $16 which is just too high. The prices here are ridiculous considering how bad the food is and how small the portions are. The ambiance is very "romantic" meaning it's too dark. We could barely read the menus even though we are young (in our 20s!) If that wasn't bad enough, the service was severely lacking. Our server wasn't rude or anything but he made no effort to remedy the situation or offer any alternative suggestions. Made a last minute reservation and this place definitely did not disappoint! Lived in Alameda all my life so I didn't exactly have any expectations for fine dining in this area, but I was pleasantly surprised. Let's get straight to it. Must try's: 「Cloud 9 cocktail」A little on the sweeter side with foamy whipped eggs whites and liqueur. If you're a Lemon Drop person then you'll like this drink! Absolutely amazing. 「Margarita Pizza」A delicately thin crusted margherita pizza. Flavors and consistency paired so well together! 「Spanish Branzino」My absolute favorite dish! It is not easy preparing fish without overcompensating on other flavors, but the chef really brought out the true natural flavor of the Branzino. Branzino was perfectly cooked, drizzled with olive oil, topped on a buttery potato purée. 「Hamachi Appetizer」Freshly sliced hamachi sashimi with cute little ball-shaped melons and avocado and radish. Definitely an interesting dish with many diff layers to it and good one to cleanse the palette with. 「Others」Calamari Fritto, Clam Chowder, Squid Ink Risotto, and Sea Scallops were also all really delicious as well! No dishes disappointed us to be honest. I was slightly taken aback to find that the clam chowder costed $17. While good, I also found that the salads were also indecently priced as well. I completely understand they are trying to achieve Fine Dining standards, but prices like that you'd expect Fine Dining Ambiance and customer service. It almost felt slightly fast-paced, inattentive, and not a whole lot of explanation to what our dishes were. We had an odd number of 5 but we were placed so close to another cluster of 5 that we had trouble getting in and out the area which made it an inconvenience to the both parties and the servers who tried to serve us. Make no mistake, the waitress was warm and cordial. All-in-all, this place is nothing short of amazing. I would definitely be back for more and recommend for others to try this place. We ordered cocktails and they probably took closer to 25 mins to be made, we came at lunch so the place was empty except for a few other tables. They also took like 20 mins before serving us water.... I feel like some servers were nice, but some were extremely snobby. My friend and I came here and was dressed really casual for a random lunch, and I felt that they treated the other patrons better. Tab still came out to 165+ after tip and it wasn't worth the price. First of all, this is a very expensive restaurant and I am judging it on that basis. For example, they charged $32 for for a pasta dish and $14 for three small biscuits. Please! Now, let's talk about the food. In a word, it was uneven. My pasta dish came hot and it was very flavorful. Not worth $32, though. On the other hand, the two soups that some other people had arrived cold, and the portions were small. Another person's Benedict also came in luke warm. In addition to that, the restaurant ran out of black tea and skim milk. So what about the service? The waiter was nice, and he did the best he could with what he had but he had only been there two weeks. I wonder how much staff turnover that place experiences. Bottom line. There were few people there and those who didn't show up obviously knew something we didn't. I have no idea how this restaurant gets more than four stars. You could not tell that this used to be Otaez Mexican restaurant! The owners have done a fabulous job remodeling! The ambiance, the details, the food, everything is amazing! Anne was our server and she really outdid herself to make sure we had a great experience! We were a table of six, and four opted for the restaurant week fixed menu. While a friend ordered the short ribs and I ordered the sea scallops. Everyone was pleased with their meals and desserts! I highly recommend the Paris Brest, so yummy! It's similar to a cream puff with salted caramel ice cream/gelato on top. The table agreed that it was the best dessert. The only downside was the wait time. Our drinks came out fairly quickly but the food took a long time. Understandably so, they were a packed house! I wish they had bread for the table in the meantime. Either way, we will be back!! This will probably be my first and last experience at Ceron. I give 5 stars for the ambiance and decor of this establishment. The service was good but not excellent. This restaurant is just too overpriced for the amount and quality that you're getting. To be honest, their prices are more higher than going to a comparable restaurant in SF. I do agree with the other posts where they have an identity crisis. The drinks were mediocre. The quality was not consistent. We had 4 cocktails each. For me, 1 out of the 4 were delicious. We had to return one of our drinks because the cocktail was un-drinkable. Each cocktail cost you around $17. You're literally ripping your customers off when it's not top shelf liquor! I cannot justify paying $17 for cocktail when I'm getting Captain Morgan Rum and Bicardi as my liquor. For starters, we had the lobster bisque. It was bland and could use little more salt. We had a party of two so each person had 3 spoonful each. Not a memorable dish, I do not recommend. We had the hamachi next, I had the same sentiments as our lobster bisque. Hamachi was barely non existent. I kept getting grapefruit thinking I got hamachi. The grapefruit overpowered the dish. Some of my grapefruit was bitter or sour which messed up my taste buds. Next dish was Beets & Burrata, for the price of this dish, we only had 4 little dollops of burrata with baby beets and greens as garish. I don't believe those 4 itty bitty dollops made up a whole ball of burrata you would buy at a cheese store lol. Not worth it. Do not order. Finally, we got the duck liver. This was my favorite dish of the night. If I were to ever go back here, it would only be for this dish. The liver reminded me of Foie Gras. *chef kiss* For our Main entree, we had the scallops. For $50 you get four scallops with cauliflower and garlic aioli. Didn't give me a lasting impression. I've had better for a quarter off of the price. Desserts, what a total disappointment. I was excited to see chocolate soufflé on the menu. When it came out to our table, I was so confuse to why they served us a thin slice of dense chocolate cake. I confirmed with our waiter if this was soufflé that I ordered and he replied yes. Correct me if I'm wrong but Soufflés usually come in a ramekin, puffs up and served hot? Lol Why did I get a sliver of cold chocolate dense cake?! Ceron, if you're reading this, please change the name of this dessert. You're bamboozling your patrons. I already returned my cocktail earlier and could not bring myself to return another item to you guys. Then we ordered another dessert but I cannot barely remember the name. Probably because it was not good and did not leave a lasting impression on me. It was cookie crusted creme puff. The puff was stale and I did not taste any hazelnut which was the flavor of the dessert. Each dessert cost $13 each. I believe these desserts are bought by a third party vendor and Ceron just jacks up their prices to sell. I may be wrong but I did not see a pastry chef in their kitchen. All in all, I really want them to do well and succeed here in Alameda. However, if they plan to be here for the long run, please fix your price points for the quality and quantity of what you're serving. For a party of two, we spent $300 and left very disappointed of the amount we paid for what we got. We left unsatisfied and not full. Came here on a whim w out reservations on Saturday night & took seats at the bar. Was a lot of fun actually chatting w bartenders & watching cocktails being made. There's televisions for those who want to watch sports, and nice heaters out on the patio. Most importantly-Food was on point! Everything we ordered was delicious, fresh, good attention to detail. Octopus appetizer was probably my very favorite. Service was excellent all night, we will definitely return! Pretty easy parking too which makes this way less stressful dining destination than SF or Oakland. read more

The restaurant is beautiful inside. Lovely bar. The service was great and the food was delicious. We shared small plates and a dessert. All were good. Our least favorite was the octopus tostada. It was good just not great. We will definitely be back. read more

Big Hungry and I ventured out into Alameda for dinner tonight and so glad about it because we discovered Ceron Kitchen at 1619 Webster St. SOFA KING GOOD. So it was a soft opening with a fixed menu. After chatting a bit with our lovely server, Alli, we learned they will be expanding their menu to include salads and more dishes. Excited to go back and try! Food first - Chef sent out little shots of beef broth that was so perfect for the cold weather to start. We chose to share the warm tomatoes with burrata and castelvetrano olives (I don't know what castelvetrano is but you should get it for sure bc it's delicious). Big Hungry couldn't get enough of it and basically hoovered the whole dish. I got in a few delicious forkfuls and if it wasn't 2022 in the middle of a pandemic and environmental crisis I would've asked for a plastic straw to slurp up the sauce with. We also had the octopus a la plancha with Spanish chorizo, blistered canneloni beans and tomatoes. It was perfectly cooked and every morsel was so flavorful. The octopus had the perfect char and all the flavors went so well together. Then for our mains we had the bolognese and sea scallops. Again, licked the dishes clean. The scallops were cooked so perfectly and just melted in my mouth. We had one of each dessert that was being offered - chocolate soufflé with coffee whipped cream and a citrus cheesecake. The soufflé was really rich and paired perfectly with the light and fluffy coffee whipped cream (the star of the dessert show). Citrus cheesecake was a work of art. It was served "deconstructed" with the cheesecake filling served super fancy like a football scoop (I think it's called quenelle?) over lemon curd and lemon rosemary crumble with a scoop of lemon sorbet on the side, gratefruit pieces, and a couple of what I think were ginger-poppy seed brittle crisps -whatever it was it was delicious. What a surprise when Alli brought out complimentary after-dessert dessert. Chocolate chip cookie sandwiches with hazelnut and chocolate filling. Okay - ambience. You guys. This place is so pretty! They put so much thought into every detail. High ceilings but still feels intimate. There were these really cool purse/coat hooks at the bar that were made to look like octopus tentacles. The bar is stocked and pours are generous. We will definitely stop in just for drinks on days we're not hungry. LOL - I guess it's not that obvious from my review so - I highly recommend!!! read more

Had such a great dinner here for my friends birthday. They served us birthday champagne and took their time letting us browse the menu. We ordered a bunch of starters and main menu items. Some of my favorites was the calamari fritters and the duck liver. King salmon and pork chop. The menu must be seasonal because it looks like the it changes based on the other posts I see. The service was amazing and he was funny I would definitely come back to try the other items on the menu. They also brought out a special birthday treat at the end. read more

Beautiful restaurant, upscale, modern. Good service. We came in on Mother's Day 2022 and didn't have too long a wait. The service is very good and the servers are attentive to your needs. The food presentation is nice. The restaurant is pretty new and some things need to be worked out but overall a great addition to the neighborhood. read more

It was my grandpa's birthday. We went here for a birthday dinner and all three mains were excellent, in the way that you'd hope based upon the price per plate. Meats were exquisite, cooked to perfection with a good balance of cream and spices to balance them out. Pizza was cracker thin with pockets of chewy softness. Staff was on top of it. Our waitress Alexandra was awesome. Gazpacho shots glasses seemed to go out as a "gift from the chef" to every table. Inside and outside is still reminiscent of Otaez that was at this spot previously. They have a beautiful wine room now though. I got the duck breast with porcini ravioli. Tender and well seasoned but the best part was the sauce. Loved it. read more
