After neglecting our roof for several years, we had an inspection of our roof completed by Cert-A-Roof and learned that extensive repairs were needed. There were also some issues with the roof going back to the original build of the house that needed to be addressed. The inspection was very thorough and included several pictures so we could clearly see the issues and why so much work was required. Paul was able to work within our schedule and the work was completed in one day. All of the team were very professional and explained what they were working on. We had an incident with some roof tiles being broken by the fumigation company after the roof repairs were completed, and Paul was very understanding of the situation and was able to quickly get repairs completed for a reasonable price. If I could leave a 0 stars I would! Do not trust this company! Paul showed up with a perspective buyer (we were in escrow) for a roof inspection. The buyer was aware that we had just found a small leak above a window. Without lifting a tile, he claimed my home needed a complete new refelt for $12,500. I hired a roofing company to check the leak and give me a report. Roof was repaired for $500 and I was informed that the felt would last another 30 years. Buyer was nervous due to Pauls report and cancelled sale. Well Paul you still got $275 from the buyers, but you didn't sell a roof. Nice try. Everyone needs to know how you do business. read more

He did not attempt to up-sell me with repair services, instead he gave us a clear description of the severity and urgency of each problem so that we could make an informed decision. He patiently explained each issue in person, and followed up with a thorough written report. We were concerned from a termite inspection report that the roof might immediately need expensive repairs and difficult negotiation with the seller. After Paul's advice we have a better understanding of what is normal wear-and-tear and how long we can expect the roof to last before significant repairs are actually necessary. However, I have to rave about Paul because he was simply above and beyond for us. We are in the process of replacing the entire roof at our house. We called John and he was right on top of it. We called many companies prior and no one was nearly as straightforward and professional as John. He understood the problem and help us to schedule Paul to help w our roof inspection. What started out as a small paint job turned into a roof replacement. The painter noticed several areas that appeared to have water damage, and strongly urged us to consult a roofer. Paul Watrous from Cert-A-Roof completed a thorough inspection and provided us with dozens of pictures of damaged shingles and fascia board. He also provided us with solid evidence that the previous roofer (from about 20 years ago) failed to place the mandatory barrier between the shingles and the wood, and warned us that when the shingles were removed it would likely reveal damaged wood underneath. He gave us an estimate for the work, but included additional fees per square foot of wood replacement, should that be necessary. The crew was on time, professional, and cleaned up every evening. They neatly stacked the rotten wood in the driveway, making us comfortable that indeed the wood needed to be replaced. Paul kept in touch with us via email almost daily. I had clear leakage in my home after rain storm last week. I called this company to find out what the problem was. The tech came as scheduled. The problem was he couldn't access my attic. I have an access in my garage he said he couldn't get in there. He did. It tell me he couldn't move the freezer, which I would have done. He did not offer to use a camera. He looked at my ceiling and confirmed I had a leak. He went on my roof and took pictures confirming some shingle damage. The cost for this appraisal and proposal for repair; 250.00. Maybe 20 minutes and my attic not repaired. I would caution you to be be very clear what you get for the appraisal. The company responded and offered to come back with a camera and also stated their tech's couldn't move things to gain access. I understand, but this could have been offered as alternative when tech was at my house. Most roofing companies offer free appraisal to go on roof. I'm in the process of purchasing a home in the San Diego area. I live out of the area and have had to find professionals in the housing industry that I can trust to do a good job without my being present. That can be difficult to do but when you're trying to do it remotely, it can seem like a random process. That's why I love Yelp. When searching, I usually sort by 'most reviewed' and look for five star ratings and then I read the reviews - as many as I need to feel like I have the right person or company. That's how I found Cert-A-Roof. It turned out to be a great choice. I was on an accelerated schedule and had to get all inspections done in a matter of days. Paul scheduled the inspection for a couple of days later and got the report to me the that same evening with details and photos. He found where there'd been problems and the owners had gotten them repaired. He inspected the repair work done and noted if it had been done right and remedied the problem. That was reassuring to me. Then he found several leaks and numerous other issues that the owners had missed and documented them along with any damage done to other structures within the house as a result. He was thorough and detailed in his report. He then provided an estimate for the repairs needed that I can now take to the sellers to negotiate the final price. I was very happy with the work of Cert-A-Roof. I had called another roofer earlier, but they were unable to get to it for several months--Cert-A-Roof could fit me in within a couple of weeks. Paul Watrous came out to inspect the roof, found the problem that was causing the leak but also found several other issues with the work that had been done by the previous owner. He gave me several options; I chose the most comprehensive one since I plan on living in the home for several years. The workers (2-3 each day) did a very thorough job on the roof, and cleaned up all of the surrounding area (e.g. asphalt particles on the concrete patio) every day. It took about 4 days, longer than I expected for only a partial replacement, but that showed me how thorough they were. They even repainted part of the chimney that they had to work on to get the seal right, even though I didn't have any of that paint (they went out and bought some). When going through the Home Buying Experience we were in need of a Roof Inspection. We called a company we found online and paid to have their company perform an inspection after they insisted we needed a complete re roof :( this was horrible news as there was no way we could afford it. I contacted this company after looking at reviews online. I needed a roof certification for a mortgage. I spoke with Les, the owner and arranged for the inspection. Paul came out to the house and inspected the roof and informed me that he could not certify the roof due to it being in poor shape. He showed me photos of the areas he was concerned with and explained that the roof really needed to be replaced. I asked for a quote and he told me he would send the official report and the quote that evening. He followed up as he said. I spoke with him the next day and he indicated that I could probably find a roofing company that would do the job cheaper but would not give the warranty that Cert A Roof does. I checked with a few other companies and found that Paul was correct in this. My wife and I made the decision to have Cert A Roof do the job. I recently needed a big repair job on a house in Mission Viejo and it was very urgent. On a Monday morning I started calling roofing companies. I must have called 10 companies and left 9 VMs, the only one that answered was Les from Cert A Roof. He promised to send Paul to the house to give me an estimate in the afternoon, and said that he will call me in advance to let me know when Paul will be there. Sure enough he called in the afternoon and said that Paul will be there in 30 min. Paul showed up right on time, inspected the damage on the roof and give me an estimate which was reasonable. I told him that I needed him to start ASAP, he said he will check the schedule and let me know by the end of that day on when he can start. He called me back in 30 min and told me that he can start on Fri of this same week and finish by Sat.
