Cert-A-Roof just did an inspection at a house we just bought in the South Bay area, after our general inspector recommended we take a look at the wear and age of it. I left a message with them on a Friday afternoon, and Paul returned my call within a couple of hours and I was able to get an appointment for the following Monday. We were in a fairly shortened inspection process, so having them come out so quick was great. Paul arrived on time and even called when he was 30 minutes away to tell me when he would be there. My husband and I are currently in the process of purchasing our first home and wanted a certified roofing company to do our roof inspection. Cert-A-Roof was recommended to us by a friend, but we knew they were located in Orange, CA and we are in San Diego, CA. On top of that, we needed the inspection to be done in a few days. Needed my roof looked at for a quote after a leak during a heavy storm. Cert-a-roof quoted me $4,000-7,000 to repair that section of roof or $20,000-25,000 to replace the entire roof, which they stated is in its last couple years before needing replacement anyways. I got a second opinion who said my roof was in great condition and the need repair would only cost $1,000. These guys are crooks upcharging on services and recommending services that aren't needed! In purchasing a new house recently. The home inspector noted that the roof appeared to have significant deterioration and that I should have a professional roofer come out and look. At first, I was put off with the idea of having to pay someone to come out and look at my roof, but boy am I glad I did. I had 3 roofing contractors plus Paul (as others have mentioned) come out to take a look at my roof. By far, Paul was the most thorough (in his written report as well as verbally) He was on-time, courteous, and simply exuded competence and honesty. Frankly, if his company were to fix our roof, it would be nearly double the lowest priced contractor, but I am reminded of the old adage "you get what you pay for" and I certainly don't want to "get what I pay for" when it comes to my roof! We contacted this company for a roof tune-up. The inspection performed cost $350. We received a report with photographs and an estimate. The report used the verbiage "with proper repairs this roof should last five or more years". Because we were selling our home, as required by the state of California, we needed to disclose both the report and the estimate for work, which cost over 2K. Our buyer pulled out of the contract citing that she did not want to take on the roof issues. Our tile roof will last at least another 20 years, which was not made clear in the report. Before moving forward with the work, we asked our real estate agent for another roofer so that we could get a second estimate. That estimate was $450 dollars. We went with the second company. Their work was amazing, and they repaired everything on the report and more, correctly, and provided photographs and an accompanying detailed list of everything that was done. All's well that ends well because now we are recommending the second roofer to everyone we know. Oh, and we have new buyers now who are in construction and they are super happy with the work that was done, too. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. My roof had a leak so I called Certa Roof and Bill Hogue came out to give an estimate. Like any responsible shopper, I was getting multiple quotes to make sure I wasn't being ripped off as I am not a roofing expert. As soon as Bill found out I was getting other quotes he just left and wouldnt even submit a bid. It is clear to me this company is just trying to rip people off with outrageous bids. Bill clearly knew he wouldnt be competitive. Stay away from this company and always make sure to get multiple bids for large projects.
