I called CertaPro for a painting quote on two sets of wrought iron railings on two different levels of decks. Alma responded quickly with her quote and it took another two weeks for me to get back to her because I had 5 wrought iron legs of the railing replaced and had the upper deck surface completely replaced before having Certapro return. I gave them the date of deck completion and one day later the painters came and finished the entire job without one drop of black paint misplaced on the decks just the railings were beautifully painted by Gomez and his team. The price was thousands less than two other bids because CertaPro is cutting edge with paint selection quality and experience. I was blessed to have selected them for the job and definitely recommend them. I will have them come back for more jobs. read more

Carlos and his crew did a great job painting our two bedroom condo. Our HOA is on the more difficult side to work with, requiring the submission of more documentation than any HOA I've been a part of. Carlos handled difficulties with ease. Did I mention that Carlos also came in significantly cheaper than multiple other quotes that I received? Like most contracting projects, the previous project was running behind, so our project started a bit late. Carlos was extremely communicative along they way, which prevented the delay from becoming an inconvenience. We decided to add both accent walls and floor boards to our project days before the project was starting. Carlos was able to accommodate the additional workload. Carlos' crew did a great job with the actual painting. They even compensated for the previous owners "self paint" job in some locations. They came back multiple times to make sure we were absolutely satisfied with the paint job. No project is perfect, however CertaPro Painters came close. My only complaint would be some paint spots on the floor. However, this was easily removed with the latex paint remover they paint crew left with us. We will not hesitate to call Carlos again for our next painting project. read more

I continue to find errors in the paint job that was done for just my master bedroom. Carlos came out to give a quote in late May, and was aware that a ceiling fan would be installed, a door would need to be shortened to allow clearance for the bath mat, and bathroom fixtures would be replaced. He even agreed to shorten the door for free, and complete wall patching needed for the ceiling fan (at extra cost). He also gave numerous recommendations for an upcoming Mexico City trip. I thought I found a well organized and dedicated team that I could trust to complete the job. The job was started a half day late. They still ended up finishing on time, but we're evidently rushed. My door was also damaged. Carlos sent his team back for touch up without any apology for any of the damage or poor detail. In addition, each patch is very poorly matched to the texture of the surrounding wall and ceiling and obvious to the eye. The bathroom fixtures were never revisited, so were removed after the paint. Carlos stated it would be an additional $800 to fix these small areas which should have been addressed from the beginning (again, lack of detail). My door was "fixed" with paint and remains chipped at the bottom. His staff knows the errors are present I'm certain, but don't want to go the extra step to make it right for some reason. Don't bother with this team, go with another company. **update 8/22/22: Carlos did make this effort to come out and review/correct the project which was much appreciated. It did take some effort to schedule the needed revisions. I'm thankful the project is done and Carlos effort to correct it. Future customers should be aware of the errors I experienced and be prepared to review consistently with the team. read more

Very happy with the job done by Carlos and his team. I got 5 different quotes from painters and his price was consistent with the rest, but his proposal was easily the most professional. Being insured was also very important to me. He organized free paint samples from a nearby Sherman Williams so we could test our color choices. This was very helpful. When the job was 90% complete, he did a walk through with me. This gave us an opportunity to identify items that needed to be resolved before the job was done. I was prepared for this to be a challenging conversation, but Carols was great, made a list, and took care of everything. What kept this from being a 5: The team used spray application of paint. No issue with the way it looks on the house (it looks great) but there is overspray on things like our plants, the grill, outdoor furniture, etc. The other issue is that his team left 3 very big bags of trash behind. So big, that they didn't all fit into our bins so I had to wait until the 2nd trash pickup date before they were all gone. BAIT AND SWITCH SCAM - KEEP LOOKING....Carlos Cancino (the owner) came out to my house to review my project. He spent 30+ mins taking photos and shmoozing my Mom, seemed like a really nice guy. The quote came back several days later for a reasonable price and it included all the photos he had taken of my house. After getting a few other estimates, I decided to schedule with CertaPro. This is where we get off the rails and the scam begins. He looks the job over and decides he missed something. The new price is now $1000+ more than the original estimate. What?! This man was in my house, looking at the entire project for 30+ mins. How could his quote be that wrong? I found this great Co. by doing an internet search. We were having major problems with the paint on our stucco coming off and the white primer showing. We had contacted the original stucco co. and the owner came out but we were basically told he doesn't do painting. Really??? We were greatly disappointed since it had only been 6 years and cost $10,000. Well the good news is Steve Rael who owns CertaPro of La Jolla came to our rescue! From the first meeting we were impressed with his knowledge and excellent customer service. If only other co.'s would run their businesses as well as Steve. He also made sure the color matched perfectly to our liking. The painters Juanita and Mario did a fantastic job! They hit a few bumps (like more paint coming off when they cleaned the stucco) and fixed the problem. We are so happy with the results! Painted our house interior. Horrible painting experience. Sloppy, sloppy work, large paint drips on baseboards, excess paint on all metal window frames, paint on kitchen stone countertops where they meet walls. They even painted the ceramic tile baseboards in the shower room! Any painter would know you don't do this. This has to be removed. I am correcting all these things myself. They damaged carpeting from their ladders placement and removal. They tried to remove many dropped paint spots on carpeting with some kind of paint remover, and left white spots on the tan carpet. They wasted the entire first day by using the wrong color and had to redo it all the next day. The job was supposed to take 4-5 days, but the painters said they had another job lined up and thus tried to do the entire job in three days. The resulting hurrying to finish plus the obvious two young painters' inexperience resulted in a very poor job that I am correcting myself. The painters spoke no English so it was obvious anything I told them or requested was not properly comprehended. I would never, never recommend CertaPro La Jolla to anyone. read more

My property looks fabulous thanks to CertaPro! I have dealt with many painting companies over the last 25 years, both with my own home and with my rental units, and this company is by far the best. First off, the attention to detail was refreshing. The owner knew how to deal with a coastal property and all the issues that come with it; recurring rusty nails, morning moisture problems, paint failure, etc. Over the last couple of years, I hired four color consultants to help me update my property to a high-end, sophisticated coastal look and none presented me with a palate of colors I loved. The owner of CertaPro provided, at no cost, a color consultant and she nailed the concept. The property looks fabulous! The FedEx guy, that I don't even know, flagged me down and told me there are no words to describe how beautiful the property looks. Next off, the workers were friendly, respectful, hard working and patient. Their attention to detail started the minute they began the job and and continued to the last moment. There were two crews that worked on my property and both crews were first rate. The crew chiefs, Juanita and Max, were exceptional. Juanita's crew was here a week longer than the other crew, and Juanita made sure everything was perfect and to my liking with the entire project before ending the job. She also made sure everything was cleaned up. So refreshing! After the job ended, Max came out right away when a small area started to bubble, and he fixed it. His great attitude throughout the whole project was infectious and he was a pleasure to have on site. Lastly, I really liked that the owner, Steve, had a rendering of the property done by Sherwin Williams so I could see what the property would look like with the colors I picked. Steve's sense of color and design really helped make this project shine. I have an older property with some quirkiness to it, and Steve knew what color to put where so those details disappeared. Now my property sings! The colors are like a symphony. They all work together to provide something so beautiful. I look at the property and nothing stands out like a sore thumb. Every element works in harmony and it's pure joy to look at it. I've received many, many compliments from people I know and don't know. During the painting, vacationers staying on other streets made it a point to walk by daily and watch the transformation. They were amazed at what the right colors could do to transform the look.
