My barber was Ashley D Page (there were two Ashely's so the last name is for clarification). She did a great job on my hair. She listened to what I wanted and executed. It kind of bothered me for some reason that she would never remember who I was. After going a few times and having personal conversations (I even bought her a sub one day because she said she never tried DB's Cheesesteaks across the street) you would think that person would at least remember that she's seen you in real life before. She did give an amazing cut though and was fun to chat with so I let it slide... haha. I love being able to use an app to see available times and book right there, but I don't like that it would often only give me the option to book a cut with Ashley and have someone else do the shampoo/scalp massage. Obviously it's the available booking times and the computer isn't going to have overlap but I appreciate going through the whole process with one person and I could rarely book it that way. Even when I did, I was sometimes passed off to someone else because they were running behind. When it came time for my next cut, I logged into the Vagaro app to book an appointment and there was nothing available... for anyone. I did some Googling and Facebook stalking to find out that a bunch of barbers all left around the same time. Maybe a mutiny of some sort... I don't have the deets. I thought about booking another appointment with someone else but I was turned off by the manager/owner commenting on the Facebook posts that stylists walked out on customers leaving them high and dry. Maybe that happened, maybe it didn't but either way, it's not a good look to be badmouthing your former employees on social. I found out that Ashley landed at Broad Street Barber which I'm not a fan of (personal reasons that may not be an issue for you... feel free to see my review) so I decided not to follow her. It seems that BSS has hired new barbers and are back on track. No real issue for me with the quality of the shop and their cuts but after the fallout they had, I think I'm moving on to a fresh start elsewhere.

The salon booked me with level 4 stylist, Amie. She is very personable and we chatted the whole time. All of the employees that work for the salon seem to enjoy the work environment and culture, which always makes the experience pleasant for customers. I was the only customer in the salon for the majority of my cut--wouldn't have minded if it had been slammed. Amie gave me the best "wash before cut"! TBH can relax myself just thinking about the head massage. All of the hair products used on me were up to standards. The hair cut itself gets a 10/10...just the right length and amount of layers. However, the reason why I'm writing this is because I booked a haircut recently on May 22nd at 3:45. I got the text message saying to confirm my appointment like I always receive the day before a haircut. I confirm my haircut appointment message by clicking CONFIRM like I always have. I walk in 10 minutes early to get checked in, only to find out that my name was not on the schedule! And that someone else was booked at the same time I was supposed to get my haircut. The lady at the front desk couldn't provide any information on what went wrong and just said "Oh that's too bad, i'm sorry" "maybe we can get you next week around Thursday, the 29th". I then asked, "Can you see me today as a walk in?" She goes, "Sorry, everyone is booked today" (Acting like I didn't book the haircut on the day I'm supposed to get one). And then, I asked "Who would have canceled the appointment when I have the confirmation on my phone?" She goes, "Looks like someone called and canceled the appointment". To which I was automatically frustrated by that and said "Who called? Because it wasn't me!" Couldn't help me and was a lousy excuse to cancel my appointment without my approval. Disappointed in how downhill this Barrelli has gone. Definitely recommend passing on this Barrelli until they get a new front desk representative replacement or at least somebody that's a little more competent.

Then a coworker recommended Moxie Miller and I figured I had nothing to lose. I went in with very dark, box color-treated hair and some weird orange balyage and came out with shiny, smooth perfectly highlighted hair. Quality - Dave remains the professional he has always been…read more Service - a haircut; a conversation; and community update. Vibe - Down hill. Cleanliness - continues to slide down the hill. Hair; dirt; and stains on the floor; under the cabinets; on the counters; covering the kids toys in the off white basket; just dirty. The base of the chairs are marked up; dirty; and unkept. Reading materials on the floor unkept and look like trash. The entire workplace is getting trashy. Last trip the "clean" area was the comb holder and the blue water - not any more. The tops are off; the stains run down the sides; etc. SC Code 17 - 50 maybe a solid reference.
