I really wanted to like this place. Peruvian cuisine is probably one of the most interesting and complex, and this neighborhood (which happens to be my neighborhood) is extremely lacking in anywhere decent to eat. This place looked like a nice little place, and there is definitely nothing wrong with the atmosphere. So I was really hoping this was something good, and I even gave it two chances.
The first time I ate here, I had a soup and a ceviche mixto, and it was alright. I remember something being off, I'm not sure what it was because it was a couple months back. Overall I remember feeling that it was an iffy meal and probably cost a little more than I thought it was worth but I wanted to give the place another chance. So I came back and ordered a different mixed seafood dish which wasn't ceviche but I forget exactly what it was. It was alright other than the squid, which had an almost rancid, garbage like taste lingering about it. It was completely grossing me out and turning me off to the meal entirely. I'm not sure exactly what it was, but I eat a lot of squid, and I never tasted anything like that before. I want to say that I don't believe it was very fresh, but I don't know. Ever since then I have had little interest in coming back to this place.
I was going to give this place two stars, but because it is a new place and a local place and because some of the food was decent, I gave it three. I think they have room for improvement and I don't want to completely turn people off to this place if other people are enjoying it. I actually had decided against being the first person to review this place simply for that reason, but being the first reviewer to come along gave them a perfect 5, I thought I'd give you fair warning that my experience definitely was not a 5, and barely even made a 3. read more
