Spectacular Thai food in a comfortable space. I've been here 4 times in the past month alone, have tried 8 different items off the extensive reasonably-priced menu, and each has been amazingly delicious. Great efficient and pleasant service. The foods good but the portions are way too small for dinner! We ordered beef curry and the bowl of it was like a quarter full with no meat. We had to send it back and then argue with the wait staff and manager which was precarious to say the least. They were completely unapologetic and told us that beef is "" expensive. well what were we paying for then? I told him if we wanted vegetarian we would've just ordered that. After waiting forever for them to add some meat to the dish we had very quickly finish the first portion of the stirfry which was OK but also very small portion and when we needed more rice they charged us two dollars for a tiny little bowl which they should've given us for free which I had to argue with the manager again on the way out that she take it off the bill also because they had us waiting to get the curry back but had no beef in it. read more

I have live in this neighborhood all throughout college and after college. I have tried ever single Thai Restaurant in the area. ( and there are like 7 of them) No Joke, this Thai restaurant is the best in both service and quality of food. Its really interesting you can tell when the chefs actually eat the food they prepare. Not bad for thai food. Like the atmosphere and appreciate the efficiency of the service. I had Pad See Ew with Chicken, 3 star hot (out of 4) it was spicy but not in the "make me sweat" spicy. Food was tasty but could have been warmer. Will go back as it's close to work. read more

1st off they were very accommodating for a party that was larger than what we originally told them. All the food was really pretty good, all while being a bit different. The fresh rolls with chinese sausage was tasty, the egg rolls equally good, the mee krop rn was interesting as the crispy noodles were, completely fried which wasn't expected but then soaked up the sauce which had great flavor even if their very hot was not so much for me. All in all we will have no problem visiting here again. read more

This place is ok, a little bit old. I expected more of the food quality. My crab fried rice wasn't warm enough. Service is extremely slow. The staff are nice but it would be better if they show a little more welcoming and friendliness. read more

Came here on Tuesday for dinner with a girlfriend. We shared an order of salad roll (they were pretty great). She had the lemongrass chicken salad and i had the lemongrass chicken. I think she loved her salad and i really enjoyed mine as well. read more

Cha Ba Thai is, hands down, my favorite Thai restaurant in Portland. Pad Thai can be a hit or miss experience - but here, it is exceptional - as is everything I've had the pleasure to order and eat. I love this place! They've always been friendly and their food is consistently amazing. You can order one dish and feed two hungry people. I usually order their Kao pad, spicy basil and it's so full of exotic flavor. I also really enjoy their soups which are great for nursing colds during the winter season. I came here to get a lunch order for the office last week. The interior is very warm and inviting, I really like their dining room and the decor. Staff was very friendly to me and helpful when I had questions. I want to come sit down and eat sometime because I also noticed a $3.95 mimosa special. The kitchen was very fast in preparing my large order. I'd have to say this is some of the best Thai food I've found so far in Portland. Very nice ingredients with tons of flavor. The best Thai food in NE Portland. I love their phad thai, papaya salad, fried catfish with kaffir lime and glass noodles. Great curries too. Their food is flavorful, well-spiced and not too spicy or sweet: balanced the way good Thai food should be. The staff is friendly, you can dine in, eat on their lovely patio or order to go. In fact, I'm writing this while sipping an ice cold plum wine at their sturdy wooden bar, having a delicious break from my kids and listening to the sounds of chopping and stir-frying having just put in my to go order. Really delicious thai food. I counted three other thai places within a quarter mile on Alberta, but this is the one I will be going to. I got the chicken cashew and beef pad see ew, and both were delish. I got take out but the place looked clean and nice inside. Not high end, but pleasant and colorful. Will NOT be going here again. I ordered green curry take-out, which was delicious...until I found a BEE in it as I was scooping it onto my rice. I called to ask for a refund and was told I could only be given "store credit" or a new meal....they wouldn't give me a refund after finding a dead bee in my food!! Ridiculous! When I asked to speak to a manager they informed me the manager was not in, nor did they know when he/she would be in. Frustrated, I went back to the restaurant with the food and again requested a refund. I really like Thai food and have been to a lot of different Thai restaurants and this one is my favorite. I have been here at least 10 times and I love everything I get here. To be fair my husband doesn't like it nearly as much as I do ... To each his own I guess, but he doesn't stop me from dragging him there either. I love this place ...great outdoor space, consistently good food, decent wait staff. We live around the corner and we love it here. The waiter Nick is absolutely lovely and accommodating. We described what we felt like eating, he suggested the right dishes, and also seemed concerned that we enjoyed them. The food is very good - a little better than the other options nearby. I haven't tried the Pad Thai yet, but the lemongrass salad is wonderful, pad kee mow was great, and we had an appetizer (like a samosa) which was flaky and yummy. I've eaten here twice and overall it's an average thai restaurant. I give 'em kudos on their bar (they carry Ninkasi IPA), their food(standard for pdx thai restaurants), and their outdoor area, but they're a little lacking in the service department. In a town filled with meh Thai it was nice to finally experience this joint. I had heard many wonderful things about this place, but wasn't about to go out of my way to have another mediocre experience. But on Sunday I found myself on Alberta hungry and swung in with my friend. The fried calamari is to die for with a sweet and tangy dipping sauce. The inside has a very lovely decor and perfect for those romantic night out. This is one of my fave thai food spots. Always excellent, fresh, simple food. They focus on authenticity and freshness, but the prices are very reasonable. Service here is great. They even let us order and put on our order before the 15 person table. And the decor is they use real Fiesta ware! read more
