Cha Cha Matcha is located in Moynihan Train Hall, so it's convenient if you're close by or trying to catch a train. The store itself is nice and clean, mainly the counter and some display shelves for matcha you can purchase. Staff overall is friendly! I came on a weekday morning and there was not a lot of people waiting. They do whisk the matcha themselves but seem to do so in batches vs one per drink. I ordered the strawberry matcha latte, which was one of their popular drinks. They seemed to make a strawberry milk using your milk of choice, then top it with matcha. It was much more milk than matcha that my matcha felt like just a cold foam topper almost. My cup was basically full with just the ice and milk. For paying $9 for a matcha, I just dont think it was worth it. It tasted ok, not anything mind blowing or different. I probably won't be returning personally. read more

I would have expected them to honor the $1 difference in listed price... moreover, the menus don't list the price for a size upgrade. The drink I got (matcha yuzu-ade) tasted decent but kind of comically small for $9.50 even after upgrading the size. Super fast, efficient service, which is top priority when you're early and waiting to get on line for Amtrak!! On top of that, their matcha is next level. I've always walked past this store and their flatiron location but never actually gone in. I ordered an iced nitro draft matcha, and was blown away by how smooth, creamy, and sweet it was, without tasting too sweet. The superior quality of the matcha shone through and eliminated the need for more milk and sugar, so it was a lovely deep green color. It may have been the location since it was in a high traffic area in a train station but it fell below my expectations unfortunately /: I got a strawberry matcha and the flavor sat on the bottom no matter how much I tried stirring it around. Since I didn't have a straw I couldn't taste any of the strawberry sadly. I don't think it's worth the price since this was $11 with tip. I've been drinking matcha for years and this ceremonial grade is different. Not only does it taste good, I enjoy an additional energy boost, antioxidants, and amino acids in my system. Literally the worst matcha in NYC do not believe the hype LOL I mobile ordered 3 matcha lattes from this location and it said it would be ready in 20 minutes, and I had to wait an additional 20 minutes (so total 40 minutes of waiting) for my drinks! I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Cha Cha Matcha in Chelsea was disappointing enough that I felt compelled to share it. The employees were beyond rude and made me feel extremely uncomfortable, like I was inconveniencing them simply by being there. When I approached the register, the employee didn't greet me, smile, or ask what she could get for me. Instead, she stared at me and bluntly asked, "Do you want to order or not?" The tone was incredibly unwelcoming and honestly shocking for a customer service job. After I placed my order, the other employee made my drink without saying a word and turned her back to me the entire time. There was no acknowledgment, no thank you, and no basic courtesy. The whole interaction felt cold and dismissive. What makes this especially disappointing is that I genuinely enjoy their matcha. It's sad that I won't be returning because the product itself is something I like, but customer service matters. No one should feel uncomfortable or unwelcome when they're spending money at a business. I understand that everyone has bad days, but being treated like a nuisance when you're paying for a product is unacceptable. Even though I've had both matcha and chai numerous times, I've never had it combined until the day I ordered this. It didn't disappoint. It was refreshing to have after getting off a 4 hour train ride (Amtrak)! No one flavor was overpowering, they each worked well together to create a well-balanced iced beverage. I decided to get an apple danish because it was calling my name as it laid in the glass display... definitely don't regret getting it. It surprisingly paired well to eat it as I drank my matcha chai. It was a huge danish, in the shape of a diamond, and I somehow ate the entire thing myself, in one sitting. There isn't any seating inside because there is plenty of seating in the actual food hall. So make sure you grab your seat near the other food options! This location is vibrant with eye-popping pinks and greens everywhere, giving off a tropical feel with the plants all around. I was served really quick when I ordered. Within 5 minutes I got everything. I also went on a very non-busy day at the train hall... it was a Sunday afternoon for context. I'm actually usually not a huge fan of strawberry matcha, but this was an exception--I caught myself taking multiple sips of my friend's drink. I ordered the purple drink with a matcha shot, which the barista told me is lavender and ube flavored. I found the matcha to really balance out the sweetness of the lavender, and the overall drink was a great blend of earthy and floral flavors. I found both drinks to have a really great balance with body and sweetness. I think the pricing was on the higher end of reasonable, but it felt worth it for how good the two drinks were. I did really appreciate the no extra charge for oat milk!
