I stopped by late Friday morning for some matcha. Now I will say customer service was really good here. Staff were friendly and welcoming, so for that reason I would give this place another chance. It was clean, minimal, and organized. Seating is in the center of the place. I got almond croissant and strawberry iced matcha with almond milk. Croissant was tasty, wasn't too much almond on top, and buttery inside. The matcha was another story! I normally just get regular matcha but this was my second time trying strawberry matcha and I don't like it. When staff asked if I liked it, I said no lol but they recommended mixing it up to get the full taste of it. It wasn't sweet at all to me. Only gave three stars because I did not like the matcha however, the customer service was really good so I'd give it another chance for sure. read more

After walking past this matcha place for a long time, I finally decided to swing by and check it out. I got the strawberry matcha - it satisfied the craving and had good strawberry flavour. It's a bit on the sweeter side and you don't get as much as I'm used to at other places given the large amount of ice, but overall a decent fix to pop into if you're in the area and really wanting a matcha. read more

Came here at around 8:45 on a Monday and it was pretty slow. I placed a mobile order that said my order was going to be ready at 8:50 but it was ready when we arrived there. The store was spacious, and there was plenty of standing area to enjoy your drink. They have an area that had self-served coffee sleeves, lids and even simple syrup. I loved the pink everywhere! I got the ube matcha with an extra matcha shot and I really enjoyed it! It's definitely on the sweeter side, so if you're not into that I'd stay away from this drink. This had a great ube flavor that paired well with the matcha. My boyfriend got the Kyoto cream top, and the cold brew was extremely acidic and sour. I stopped in while taking a break during a Pokémon Go event, looking for a cute café to sit and relax in. I don't drink coffee but I do love a good matcha latte, and this spot popped up nearby. The storefront is small and I actually missed it the first time walking by, but that was on me for not noticing the sign. Inside, the space is clean and minimalist with a calm vibe. The menu is small, which I usually take as a good sign since it often means they focus on doing a few things well. I ordered a basic matcha latte with whole milk. Price-wise, it was standard for matcha, so no complaints there. The drink itself looked very pretty when it came out. I tried it first without any sweetener and was impressed by the strong, solid matcha flavor. At the front of the café, they have a sweetener station with simple syrup so you can adjust your drink to your taste. I thought that was a fun touch and added some in. The downside was that the bottle was disgustingly sticky -- to the point where even hand sanitizer couldn't get the stick off. Once I added syrup, the flavor actually became surprisingly muted. It reminded me of a lighter, more toned-down version of a Starbucks matcha latte, which was fine but not as good as the strong unsweetened version. Would I recommend this place? If you're new to matcha or like customizing your drinks, then yes. The staff was friendly, the café itself was pleasant to sit in, and the sweetening station is a unique idea. For me personally though, I prefer when the balance is set by the café itself. I kept worrying I added too much syrup, and I think that's what ruined the flavor of my latte in the end. read more

Finally got the chance to pop into Cha Cha Matcha after walking by locations around the city. The aesthetic of the shop is very cute. I was able to order quickly as there was only one other group ahead of me. Customer service could be improved. It seemed like the employees were annoyed that I walked in after another group lol. I ordered a matcha latte with oat milk and vanilla. The drink was prepared quickly. I could already tell I wouldn't be a fan of the matcha based on how it looked. They use electric matcha whisks but did not whisk the powder long enough, leaving grainy clumps of powder throughout the drink. I wish it was mixed longer then I would've enjoyed it much better since the flavor was there! read more

Ordered: Purple Drink (~$7): mix of CBD, lavender, and ube with oat milk Aya's take: I've been to a different Cha Cha Matcha location in the past and even though there's matcha in the name, I decided to try the Purple Drink since I'm a big fan of ube. To start, it was silky smooth, with subtle taste of lavender. I couldn't taste the CBD at all and quite frankly had no idea it was in the drink until after. I tried the strawberry matcha and it was really bad. Although it looked gorgeous, the whole drink tasted undrinkable. Not sure if the strawberry syrup or milk went bad but to the trash it went. It just had a really weird aftertaste including the matcha. For $9, I would not try it again. read more

First time going here after hearing so much about this store in LA. I ordered the iced chai matcha and was most disappointed. I asked for less ice and was given that as well which was perfect because most places usually forget. The service was nice and the girl who took my order was friendly and efficient. The drink was tasty and was made with oat milk. You could taste both the matcha and the chai which created a nice blend. The only reason why it's not 5 stars is because of the price. With tax my drink was 7.90 which is a very steep price. Otherwise, I would give it a 5/5 and I would be coming back here. Enjoy! read more

New open Cha Cha Matcha at Madison Ave! Nice to have around fifth ave so when you are tired from shopping and want something to eat or drink, this is a good one! I ordered Crispy Rice Bowl, Breakfast Burritos, Matcha Energizer, and Strawberry Matcha. Everything was delicious! Especially the breakfast burritos! Stumbled upon this by chance. What a find. The ube drink was sublime ordered with pistachio milk. I asked for a matcha infusion as well. Incredible taste sensation. I'd had a drama morning and the staffer gave me a free cookie as well. That chocolate chip cookie was one of the best ever. It wasn't overly sweet or buttery so the chocolate really stood out. My friends and I love going to Cha Cha Matcha and I have been going to this location all the time. Twice now the staff have been really rude. My friend who works at the area swears she will not be coming back to this establishment. Today was the last straw for me and I also will not be coming back to this location. We ordered some drinks and some people behind us got their drinks before mine and I asked nicely if they had my order in queue and one of the female baristas snapped at me and said "can't you see us making it? Give us time, seriously!" Rude customer service especially if they were making drinks out of order and I waited 15minutes already when people got their drinks within 5minutes. I'm a huge fan of Cha Cha Matcha. I generally go to the same 3 locations that are further downtown than this one, but yesterday, I was in this area and wanted my usual Draft Latte. I've been drinking this nonstop basically since it was added to the menu. This store's Draft Latte is totally off and I don't recommend it. I'm not sure of the protocol of how it's stored or poured or if you do any extra additions to it before serving... but me and my friends go 4 of this drink and all of ours tasted bad. Mind you that I normally drink this and absolutely looove the taste! It was extremely watery (normally milky and thick due to coconut + oat milk), and had very little sweetness and hardly any vanilla smell or taste. It just tased like a watered down matcha latte but with no milk? So matcha iced tea, but not in a pleasant way. So, please figure out what's off about it (vs. other locations!) so people can enjoy the Draft Latte at this location -- thank you! read more

I was at this quaint tea shop east of Koreatown earlier in the evening before going to a meal at the excellent new Thai place, Wanglang. The staff was very friendly, and they specialize in matcha, along with having hojicha, genmaicha, black tea, and sencha. Along with more traditional drinks, they also have fruit options as well as black sugar jelly (I presume kuromitsu) and a Japanese citrus that's not seen much here, hyuganatsu. Along with the citrus, this place is rather unique as they had three different matcha options in terms of variety. As I tend to prefer teas pure and without add-ons, I ordered the Matcha Americano, which is simply matcha and water. I went with the 12-oz version for $6 + tax and ordered the Hajime, though I would likely get the Fuku No Midori next time based on descriptions online. The matcha was solid and had a mild sweetness and a light earthiness. However, it lacked some of the mouth coating found in very high-quality drinks from Sorate or Setsugekka, while being similar in price. Still, that is comparing to some of the best, and this was still very tasty and a lot better than 90% of the places in the city, being more comparable to Kettl. I get my custom half matcha, half strawberry order, and the staff is always so accommodating about it. Everyone is genuinely so sweet, Mika is incredible. The matcha is a 10/10. So good. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! FYI - there are two unisex restrooms in the rear for customers to use with really cute wallpapers too.

My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.

They're a little pricey, but each donut is a pretty hefty ring of chewy glutinous rice flour batter. I had them the following morning, and the donuts still tasted fresh. There was a little bit of oiliness from the frying, but it did not taste off or too greasy. I think this is from the meticulous frying process and good management of the oil. I got the Cookies and Cream, Rose, Lavender, and Pistachios. I loved the Rose and Lavender flavors, especially the lavender which had a solid floral flavor without being perfume-y. I look forward to trying other donuts and sweets from Bear Donut in the future!

One good thing is that, at least on the upper level, they do not rush you out whatsoever. You can literally stay for as long as you want.
