Met a friend for lunch and we were so impressed we scheduled another lunch date at the same place!

My wife and I had lunch at Cha Cha's last weekend. I had the carnitas and she had the roasted chicken. We also had a couple margaritas. The food was excellent. I am not sure what they use for spices but both the chicken and pork were some of the best that we have ever had. Drinks were great as well. We sat at the bar and the service was exceptional! The enchiladas tasted better this time. I had the enchilada combo which is a crab and shrimp enchilada, a cheese enchilada and a chicken enchilada. The sauces they put on top greatly upstage the fillings. Delicious sauces, maybe sour cream based? The insides were ordinary and I stick with my prior review that the filling for the crab and shrimp enchilada is more like a crab dip with a few small shrimp in it, than a true crab and seafood enchilada. Black beans were perfect and I am jealous since I cook beans all the time. They are not smashed but they stay together on the fork as if they fully reduced the bean broth. They are not overcooked or exploded though. They were also seasoned perfectly. I could go there just for the beans! Covid-wise, many people ordered to-go for their family because there is a large clean eating area in front of restaurant. When it became too warm, the manager shut the heat off to ensure our comfort! Our server, I believe her name is Angelique was so pleasant and gave really good suggestions!!! You won't be disappointed. We ordered crispy calamari for our app. They were good but about what you would get at almost any restaurant. For our entrees we both ordered the Wood-Oven Carnitas. The plate comes with rice and beans and your choice of flour or corn tortillas. This was for-sure the star of the show. Cha Cha's makes the best carnitas I have ever had. They are so good that ever time I go I always get them. It's the only entree I've ever had there. The other food look amazing too but the carnitas have a hold on me haha. Cha Cha's is a modernized Mexican restaurant that brings an delightful atmosphere for its patrons. They have outside seating and inside seating, great service, and delicious food. My fiancé and I went in on National Taco Day (Feels like every Tuesday is) that featured specialized tacos made with lobster tails, brisket and a mushroom taco. To top it off my fiancé and I both got large sized Sangrias that were enormous for $12 (each). Our service here was top notch where she came back and refilled our waters timely, reassured us they our food was coming and was able to hold conversation well. As for the food I loved the brisket taco and the lobster taco! The wild mushroom taco was not my taste, but would be if you're a vegetarian. My fiancé had a chicken taco that was pretty damn spicy and I love spicy! She also got a carnitas taco, which was actually my top favorite. So for tacos I would highly suggest the lobster taco (short featured item), brisket taco, the carnitas taco, the chicken taco and the mushroom taco in that order. The bathrooms here were clean. The seating arrangements to be honest do not fee 6ft away from others, but they are trying their best to make sure customers are happy with their experience and are very accommodating. Overall, this has been a staple in the Brea community and seems to be one of the more busier establishments where you may have a wait time, but if you catch it before the busy restaurant hours you should be fine! Definitely recommend this establishment that has been part of the Brea community on Birch street for some time now! Great to eat here prior to the movies or going to the improv! read more

The red salsa is tastier than the green BUT BEWARE you are going to have the worst garlic breath for the whole day. And we gotta wear MASKS so just beware lol. This place is a line of a lot of restaurants in Orange County so it was hard to see which one I wanted to try so here we are how did we choose this one since this was a last minute thought we did not have reservations and they don't take any we called ahead and they originally said a 30 minute wait so we came and when we got here they said 30 minute wait we'll it was like an hour wait we doubled booked with another restaurant a few doors down this one called us first so we ate here. They are super crowded and under staffed we had to wait for chips and salsa and the amount they brought us was for a couple not 4 people it took a long time for them to bring us more water and chips of course not the fault of our waitress she was super busy and trying g her best so the service was slow we were out of drinks for awhile. Our food we had seafood enchiladas which were good and tasty but small portion, carnitas sorry I didn't like them they had a sweet taste these were not for me but the presentation was good they came in a little cast iron skillet sauté in onions, next stop was salmon And roasted potatoes these were good portion was kind of small but very tasty, next stop last was carna asada with potatoes this was tasty and good. Venue and service is great. It's in downtown brea in a great neighborhood. The taco platter I ordered was kinda salty, the black beans were super salty and the rice was kinda crusty. Idk what it was. It some sauce or seasoning of the shrimp was kinda funky (it wasn't the mango salsa, Idk what it was). Not that it was spoiled but it just wasn't fitting my taste buds. I've come here before and the food was great. Not so much today. All in all, great place to go. I'll come again but will try to order something else. read more

I'm only leaving stars because the food wasn't too bad. And as someone who has worked in the food industry, I too would be annoyed working with such volume. I shouldn't have went to a restaurant during a pandemic. It was so blatantly obvious and frustrating that there is some serious racial bias out at cha Cha's. Got to the restaurant around 4 and was told that there was a twenty minute wait. No problem. 20 minutes later I get seated in the far back of the restaurant as we passed about 6 empty bussed tables. So my logic is okay maybe it's social distancing, makes sense. But as I look the other direction they have dozens of Tommy Bahama wearing folk in the front of the restaurant all huddled together. Me and my asian girlfriend asked to just move up a few tables so we could have a better chance of being attended to. We got moved up one more table closer to the restaurant. Okay, I don't mind, I don't wanna more complicated. I'll take what I can get in a pandemic. But then I notice the next people being seated even further back to me we're a black couple and even they were confused as to how far they were from the restaurant. They also requested to move up. Then soon after they seated another asian couple in the far back. Meanwhile all the Tommy Bahamas were all concentrated at the front. Then we get another black couple seated next to us. 20 minutes later boom a dog next to us. We finished our food, walked around the world market, Starbucks and just took a stroll since there's nothing to do. Came back to our car, passed the same area. Another black couple all the way in the back. Then another party with dogs in a stroller. Hear me out I thought I was reaching until the other black couple noticed too and we had a quick exchange. I'm over here thinking, they got all the diverse people in the back, black, asian, one older Mexican couple and they keep seating whites in the front. Not to forget it's where they kept putting parties with dogs. We are all paying money to eat regardless of whether what race looks better facing the street. This is a Mexican restaurant for gods sake, with some Mexican workers it should be diverse. How did this not click in anyone's head after we were consistently grouped together in the back as I ate for an hour only to come back and witness the same pattern. Don't attach any young liberal entitlement on me, I normally just let it be, but at least don't make racial bias this obvious. Anyways the food was alright. I got the watermelon margarita and the combo enchiladas. Very well presented. My girlfriend got a skirt steak carne asada. I think it was better than my plate. The shrimp enchilada was pungent. Service was okay, I got my order taken, waited for food, ate, paid, tipped and left. All I wanted was to feel normal again after being stuck at home. Maybe next time. Parking is free around the corner and there's a bath and body works about 10 steps down the street. read more
